Ahh I didn’t know this topic was here! Just threw away the label to a bar I was given yesterday at the Earth Day event at Natural Grocers. I believe the name was like this: Nature’s Path EnvironKids Organic Chocolate Bar - might have had the word Rice in the title since it was basically a “Rice Crispy Candy” type bar (sorry, I’m on phone and will need to edit out the random characters that Safari ? or Spark? reads in for my apostrophes and quote marks, etc.). Unlike most rice crispy candies they seemed to hold back on the sickening sweet candy but it was still more carb than I like these days.

Another brand I like are the KIND bars - but they are a bit more carb also. Most any of the nut flavors I like, especially if it involves a bit of dark chocolate or coconut. They also have various fruit and nut combos like with cranberry or peaches etc.

Primal Kitchen has been an interesting one but it costs more (probably as it seems to have more real food in it. Wish I still had my labels. I’ll have to check in later.

Yep.

I made up this recipe which I've been using for years: " protein bars, vegan, MODIFIED (132 cal, 13 gr protein, 13 gr carb)" recipes.sparkpeople.com/recipe-detai
l.
asp?recipe=2631714
Oh, I see there is a link to the original recipe on that page, " protein bars, vegan (120 cal, 13gr protein, 12gr carb.)"

I mess around with the recipe: PB, PB2, no nut butters at all; vanilla protein powder, or chocolate, p.p., or hemp p.p., or a combination; cocoa powder, or carob powder, or both, or none; rolled oats or none; various dried fruits or trail mix; plant store-bought milks, homemade nut milks, powdered soy, .... you get the idea.

I wrap and freeze the bars individually after having the pan of them in the fridge for awhile. I find them messy when they thaw out.

no cow LEMON MERINGUE PIE BAR
&
no cow BLUEBERRY COBBLER BAR

I'm looking for a new favorite protein bar to grab from my pantry for those busy days. This one is NOT it. It got great online reviews but some recent reviewers say they changed the recipe and it's not the same as it used to be. I tried two flavors and I didn't like the "fake fruit" taste. I'm not a fan of the texture because it is dry and it reminded me of a raw cookie dough with added bits of little annoying crispies.

Some variation depending on flavor. This is the blueberry nutrition label.

In todays grab-and-go world, it can be difficult to find a quick snack or meal replacement. Here's a list of readily available options that utilize protein sources, such as soy, rice, and pea protein. (list prepared by PeTA:11 vegan protein bars + 1 recipe)

Protein bars! What's your latest favorites? Which was a dud and you won't be buying that one again? Have a good make-it-yourself recipe to share?

Some taste great and others are barely edible. Some are yummy and others gummy, taste like chalk, or have the texture of rocks.

There always seems to be some new ones. Old favorites disappear from the shelves. Give a product review: worth trying or buyer beware!

NUTRITION: Is there a significant amount of protein in that protein bar?
CALORIES: Is it a meal replacement or a snack?
INGREDIENTS: What's in there? Only vegetarian or vegan reviews, please.
