Sproutpeople is a for-profit company. As well as selling all things for sprouting, they have loads of information, both articles and videos, concerning sprouting. sproutpeople.org/ You don't need to purchase anything to sprout in. A jar with a cloth or paper towel rubber-banded to the top will do. Also, YouTube has lots of how-to videos. A little online research can go a long way.

I use a quart-size mason jar with a plastic grid "sprouting lid" keeping sprouts in a semi-dark, well-ventilated area. Rinse the sprouts at least twice per day. Clean and dry jar and lid thoroughly between uses.

I've had mold issues with other (harder to drain thoroughly, harder to clean) sprouting containers, not this arrangement.

OK, I might have to give up my reluctance to sprouting. I tried once several years ago and ended up with a jar-full of moldy glop. So... "drain the water and let sprout for 4 days. " How? In what? Any good resources for a novice sprouter?

Fenugreek sprouts taste and smell like fenugreek. I find it delightful. I have never experienced becoming fenugreek, especially in the olfactory sense, after consuming it.

From what I read (and I read a lot), you'll smell like a big curry, depending on how much you eat. Now curry smells great, and I love it, but I don't want to smell like it.

Now you have me curious about the "funny, but not in a good way, funny" smell. I don't think I'll experiment on myself but if anyone would care to explain what the smell is similar to, I'd be interested to know!

I so love learning about interesting protein sources on this team. But I gotta, as a high school teacher, the last thing I need to do is show up for class smelling in any way a bit weird. So this might be one I pass on, personally.

I've tried Fenugrec sprout.
It taste strong and good,
It's easy to sprout at home (even with seeds usually made for cooking, look in the spices rack in usual grocery store). Just soak them in water over night, then drain the water and let sprout for 4 days. Rinse each morning.

BUT....
Each time ate some of it, I smell "kind of Funny" (In a bad way...NOT GOOD).
So I suggest you try with a small amount first.

BTW...It's also good for lactation.

Perhaps of special interest to those who are concerned about plant-based protein sources:

After finally looking at my nutrition tracker, I've learned that 1/2 cup fenugreek sprouts have 9 gr of protein; that is 2 more grams of protein than the same amount of pinto beans and a full cup of sprouted lentils. And here I've been enjoying sprouts for taste, texture, enzymes .... little did I know about the sprouted fenugreek seed.
