I got mine from Canyon Hoops: www.myoutdoor-store.com/ I liked the lifetime "no kink" guarantee, the price was good and it shipped quickly. I also liked the flexibility - it comes a certain weight, BUT I can add water if I want to add weight later.

I'd recommend them.

Where did you guys get yours from?

Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness that most frightens us. Your playing small does not serve the world. There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won't feel insecure around you. As we let our own lights shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others.

This post actually inspired me to buy one after reading some info on the web. It came in last week and is really lots of fun!

I'd love to know if anyone has found an answer as well. Did you guys post the question on the main fitness message board? If not, I will be happy to. Let me know!

I would count it more as hula dancing than belly dancing. Belly dancing definitely doesn't burn as many calories and definitely doesn't tone you up. I would try the activity calorie counter on caloriesperhour.com and then input your own activity on here based on the results there.

Hope I was of some help!

Absolutely - those bumps hurt emoticon but the smooth one will create bruises as well - to me the difference is that you don't impail(?) your already sore bruises w/ bumps if you use the smooth one.

It's really worth working through the bruises (at least on the smooth hoop)- it's another 1 1/2- 2 week commitment - but y'all've practiced that, right?!!! emoticon

Yeah, the one in the link below has ridges and if you surf around the page it talks about starting slowly with it - like 1 minute the first time. It also has warnings about bruises.

I looked at some other sites, and they are smooth, but they are filled with water (not a bad thing), which I think means you fill them yourself following their directions. That's the one I think I'm going to get.

Maybe it has to do with the ridges.. I've never seen one with ridges before..all the ones I looked at didn't have them..

I had no idea there was such a thing - but I think I want to get one!!

I'm not sure how to track it - it's cardio for sure. I think tracking as "belly dancing" sounds very reasonable. What you MIGHT want to do is post on the main message boards under "fitness & excercise" (click community above, then message boards) asking this question. Perhaps another member has a better solution.

Have fun!

Absolutely it's easier w/ the weighted hoops and I find that it's easier the heavier the hoop. i like the 6# hoop w/ the bumps but at times have had to use the 4# w/ the bumps and it's harder for me to keep up. And forget the kids hoops there's no way i can do those. Be prepared for some bruising the 1st couple of weeks but it passes!!

Sorry I don't know what to tell you to help.. but I was wondering if you guys think it's easier to hulahoop with the weighted ones than a regular kids one.. I've been trying to learn and I suck at it and was thinking about getting them but wanted to be able to do it before I invested however much money in them.. Any thoughts?

I have the weighted hoop at home and wanted to know the same. I was inputting belly dancing for it on the fitness tracker, but if anyone knows how to calculate calories for hula hooping, that would be great.
