Thanks for the tips, Sagentus. I enjoyed using the streak function. Am tracking things like finishing my last meal before 9pm, limiting my coffee intake etc.

2011 is the year! I enjoy being trim, fit, healthy and bursting with energy! :)

Ok just to report in on how I did with my streak...I flopped! I believe I set my goal too high, I should have stayed with 7 days like you instructed Sagentus. So here is what I'm going to do. Try Again! This time I will determine to do my treadmill, walking video or pool (one of the three) at least 30 minutes a day for a week, so as to get my rear in gear!

We can do this...we are all worth the effort.

I'm going to start streaking too - just not sure what .. as far as the fruits and veggies go, remember that they say 5 "servings" sometimes what you are eating - and enjoying - is more than 1 serving size - right now strawberries and corn are fresh here in Florida, so if I eat a bunch of strawberries, it might actually come to 2 or more serving sizes. and an ear of corn is at least 1 serving, sometimes closer to 2, so you might really be taking in closer to the goal than you think. Personally I don't worry much when it comes to serving sizes with veggies, grill up some zucchini or tomatoes and they are very low calorie, high in vitamins and generally just great for you - Fruit can end up packing a lot of calories so I'm more careful of those - Just a thought..

I'm with you Vicki - I am not entirely sure why, but those 5 servings give me trouble, too.

I'm streaking my sleep still, doing really well except for one night last weekend.

I am "Streaking" my water intake, servings of fruit and veggies and exercise! It is going pretty good except for the fruit and veggies. I sometimes have a hard time in getting the 5 servings! But I try!

How's THIS for perfect timing?!?! Below is a message we got in the COmmunity Team today from Spark Coach Jen about the new Spark Streaks feature. This is GREAT to help us track this challenge! Enjoy:

"We launched a new feature today called SparkStreaks, where you can challenge yourself to reach certain goals every day (or week or month if you'd like). We know that members track streaks on their own, so we wanted to create this feature to make it easier to track. Streaks are a great way to give you extra motivation to reach your goals.

You can view and manage your SparkStreaks by clicking on My Home/Start, then finding a link to SparkStreaks in the "myTools" section on the left of the page. When you click to your Streaks page, you'll see all the Streaks you are tracking. We made it so everyone has a Streak for logging in to the site and spinning the SparkPoints wheel and for drinking 8 cups of water a day. You can click the "Start/Manage Streaks" button to decide what goals you want to track a Streak, and to choose if you want to share your Streaks publicly. You can share Streaks on your SparkPage, and for SparkTeam goals you can share your Streak on your SparkTeam goal page. When you share on your SparkPage, your Streaks will appear on left side of your SparkPage under your main pictures.

To track your Streak you simply track your goals as your normally would. You can click the "See More SparkStreaks" link on your Start page to see details of your streaks, including:
- Your current streak length for the goal.
- The longest streak you ever had for the goal.
- A consistency percentage for the goal. Even if you drop off a streak, you can still see how often you did the goal. So, if you did the goal 9 of 10 days, you'd have a 90% consistency rate. If you want to re-start this counting to today, just click the "reset" link in the Consistency section.

We hope you like this feature and that it can help keep you motivated to reach some amazing goals!"

No problem! Perhaps you can get him in the habit of calling you to let you know if he has eaten? That would only be fair, especially if you are willing to sit down and keep him company.

Good luck - let us know how it goes!

SAGENTUS, I do usually know when he is coming home early. But he has weird hours..5am to 1pm. The problem is that when he does not eat lunch then he wants to eat shortly after he gets home. I never know until he gets home if he has had lunch. But I will give a try to just eating a veggie or salad and see if that works. Thanks for the ideas!

emoticon Gang! We CAN do this together!

My small streak is sleep - or rather getting 7.5 to 8 hours of it. I have been SEVERELY sleep deprived over the past few months. That combined with too much stress and minimal exercise is the cause of my recent weight gain. SO - I am now on day 5 with adequate sleep and I feel GREAT! The exercise is coming naturally, as I am not as exhausted, therefore the stress goes down. My what a tangled web, huh?!

Vicki - Do you know in advance when Hubby is going to be home early? If so, perhaps you can split your lunch into two smaller meals and eat one at your regular lunch time (so you're not starving) and the other with Hubby. If he doesn't give you any advance notice, then I would say "too bad" to his wanting you to eat with him. OR, you could just sit with him and have a small veggie or fruit snack (like a sliced cucumber or something).

Good luck everyone!

M.Jaye

This is exactly what I needed! My DH brought me a treadmill for my birthday, so I will make my steak to walk that for 30 minutes, 5 days a week for a month. You were God sent, I really was losing my motivation just about now, but I am in... emoticon

I will try to do my jogging in the morning before I go to work. It is usually a nice time to do it as the sunrises. Its just a matter of getting out of the bed. I generally walk on all my breaks at work.
I try to get to the gym after work at least two nights a week if not more.

My small streak challenge is to continue to walk 30 minutes in the morning before breakfast and 30 minutes in the evening after dinner. I just started doing this last Saturday and have been consistent so far.

I plan to use this as an ongoing streak-setter by adding more minutes to my walks each week.

Thanks for the challenge suggestion!!

I am in!

The only thing I am having a problem with is eating Dinner at a regular time and it being healthy! So that is wjat I am going to try and do as a streak. Now if DH is not a real pain about it I can do this.

He has wierd hours and sometimes he comes home (at about 1:30pm) and wants to eat dinner within about an hour. The problem is that I have just recently ate lunch so if I eat with him I am hungry again by about 6 or 7. Any ideas on how to handle this? If I don't eat with him then he complains about it.

Some of us may be at the point in this journey where we find we are struggling. It's happens to all of us, and it's NORMAL! The season's are changing, spring is a busy time of year and maybe like me, you're having a hard time staying on track.

One way to get your motivation back is to start a small streak. Here's a great article explaining: www.sparkpeople.com/resource/motivat
io
n_articles.asp?id=88

I challenge you to start a small streak of your own! What you decide to do is up to you - 8 cups of water, 15 minutes of exercise, logging your food, eating breakfast, etc., etc. Just do it for 7 days.

Who's in?
