No diet as such. Tracking food on Spark People, eating more fruits and vegetables, eating less sugar, and getting plenty fiber.

Found some recipes? Yes, I have lots. Just trying to get the healthier ones better organized.

Do you know what diet you will follow? i am learning intuitive eating with planning to have supergoods on hand. after 25 years of not listening to my bodies needs very well it is a slow battle to relearn habits, body signals, retrain my taste buds.
by focusing on real, whole foods i should get more protein and fiber. also healthy fats make me feel full making it easier to eat less and to not eat emotionally.

Found some recipes? I have several cookbooks and use some online

Grocery list? i make one weekly and keep some healthy staples around

Shop? 1 or 2x a week

Do you know what diet you will follow? I follow Keto (yet, I'm not as strict with the entire plan. I stay away from starches/sugars - first and foremost. I miss fruits and some veggies that are 'not allowed' on Keto and, for spring, may be introducing some of those back into my diet - even in moderation).

Found some recipes? I'm lucky - DH is retired (although he works a P/T job). He does most of the cooking. He knows how I tend to eat and I basically eat things that I can/should eat.

Grocery list? We are 'empty nesters' - so we don't shop like we used to, but tend to 'shop the outside aisles of the grocery store' more than others.

Shop? Yes, as needed.

Do you have the food on hand to get started? Yes - much of the 'junk' has been out of our house for some time now.

Have you followed this diet before? Yes, have been successful. I would like to see 'quicker results', but that probably has to do with the fact that I'm working the plan, on a modified basis.

Did you clean up your kitchen? It is 'Spring Cleaning Time' so ... I'm working on that right now!

Did you post your 5% Challenge Diet Commitment on your Spark Page? I will do that (or some form of that) when I go and work on 'sprucing up' my SparkPage for the Spring and for the 5% Challenge.

Yes, there is a vegetarian version of the LCHF (Low Carb High Fat) I want to try. I've done the regular LCHF for quite a while.

Grocery list? created from the Meal Mentor meal plan app

Shop? Sunday is grocery day & Costco shopping for bulk items usually mid-week.

Did you clean up your kitchen? As clean as possible but my husband and teenager just think they must have chips and crackers on hand. Crunchy food like that is usually where I fall off the wagon. I'm stocked up on two jars of dill pickles for my crunchy this time. :)

I have a low carb, low fat, high protein diet my doctor has recommended.

Hubby and I are pretty boring and have a repetitive weekly menu.

Yes. I am following WW Freestyle, but not doing points. I track my food here at Spark. I am also doing some intermittent fasting, but again it's what is working for me. I'm not legalistic about anything.

I mostly follow a Mediterranean, moderate carb approach that focuses on portions and eating foods I like. The focus is on eating vegetables with limited amounts of meats.

Yes. I did a kitchen purge this winter, but will do another one in the near future.

I"m new to the 5% challenge and still learning the rules. Hope I am posting "diet selection" in the right topic.

I've been on diets many times for more than half a century but they all had a beginning and ending point, eventually leading to failure after the ending point. I guess I'll call my current and most successful "diet" (which has become 4-letter word meaning failure for me) "Learning, Adopting and Maintaining a Well-Rounded Permanent Healthy Lifestyle While Living in the Real World."

I started off by following SP nutrition guidelines, recipe ideas, measuring everything since portion control was way out of whack, modifying my recipes to fit SP guidelines of healthy nutrition, etc., checking my daily nutrition report. Also cutting way-way down on sugary stuff, fried stuff, etc.while figuring out alternatives for having my cake and eating it too.

DH loves my cooking and doesn't even think of it as "healthy", even though it is. I serve guests nutritious recipes and they have no idea I am trying to and losing weight when the meal is so delicious.

The challenge is when I'm not at home. But with the tools I've learned and am still learning I've been able to have fantastic restaurant meals (with preplanning) and still take the lbs. off, am able to bring my recipes to potlucks so if everything else if unhealthy, I can eat more of what I brought and maybe have a bite or two of other things. (seems folks like feedback about what they brought.) Do I sometimes fail? Yes!!. However, it's only a temporary set-back and I don't beat myself up and give up. Guilt and self-beating to me takes energy that's better used elsewhere.

This is the first time in my life I've been successful at losing weight, enjoying it, AND not feeling deprived.

It’s time to decide what diet you can follow for 8 weeks. Your diet will determine what you eat, how often and how much. There are many to choose from - Spark, South Beach, Weight Watchers, American Heart Association, Diabetes Diet, Dr. Oz, Mayo Clinic, Mediterranean Diet, USDA Diet, Canada Food Guide, Dukan, Paleo, The Full Plate Diet or whatever else you choose. Everyone is different and you need to have a plan that works for you, with food that you like. Browse online or at the library for new recipes and have them ready. Regardless of the plan you choose, follow the set of standard guidelines recommended by the plan.

Have your fridge and pantry ready with the food you need. Find the measuring cups and food scale and have them handy. Declutter your counter, clean the fridge and be ready to make nutritious meals. Go through the kitchen and if there is food you should not eat make a donation to the food bank, and throw out the junk food. If it’s not in the house you won’t eat it. Eat wisely and 8 weeks from now you will thank yourself.

Set yourself up for success with a weekly menu plan complete with recipes attached, then it will be easier to make the shopping list to include the foods you need for those meals. It’s helps when you are shopping for specific things and helps with impulse control in the food store (keeps the junk food out).

Following a weekly menu plan gives you control over your eating and calories. You empower yourself to make better choices and have better impulse control.

Enjoy the foods you eat, as they are making you healthier and helping you attain your goals. Be ready to try new foods or new ways to prepare food.
