Are you ready to SPICE things up for the holidays? Join the San Antonio spark team for the 2014 SPICE challenge!
This challenge officially starts on Friday, October 31, 2014 and will run until Thursday, January 1, 2015. The goal of this challenge is to keep you on track and LOSING weight over the tempting holidays! Remember that you don't have to avoid foods you love, you just have enjoy them in moderation this season!
So, what IS the SPICE Challenge?
S-- sparkpoints-- 1 point for each day you earn at least 50 sparkpoints (max 7 points per week - counts towards the team total)
P-- pounds-- weigh in weekly and keep track of weight a la "Biggest Loser" (this will be a percentage of weight lost)
I-- inches-- measure at the start and end of the challenge (again, a percentage of inches lost)
C-- calories-- 1 point for each day you stay in your calorie range or adhere to your eating plan (max 7 points per week - counts towards the team total)
E-- exercise-- 1 point for each day you exercise at least 30 minutes (max 7 points per week - counts towards the team total)
Don't worry-- you won't be doing this alone! You will be split into teams and given a Team Leader to help you stay on track and answer any questions you might have!
Additional information:
1 - Because things like weight, measurements, etc, are sensitive info, you will track your progress on your own and then will email the points to your team leader each week. This will allow you to participate while keeping your details confidential.
2 - Each team is encouraged to create a team logo. Show your team spirit and decorate your sparkpage to show your support for your team mates!
3 - Some items (sparkpoints, calories, and exercise) will count towards the team’s total points; other items (pounds and inches) will be calculated as a percentage lost. At the end of the contest, there will be 3 winning categories:
Team with the Highest Points,
Most Pounds Lost (individual)
Most Inches Lost (individual)
4 - Remember that this is a TEAM challenge, and all members need to participate to make the team successful. Please be mindful about turning in your points on time so that your team has as many points as possible each week. Help keep your team members accountable with friendly reminders and support.
5 - We encourage you to engage in "friendly heckling" and supporting each other across team lines. Leave little comments on each other's pages-- "XXXXX team is SO going to win!!" or "Your team is really kicking butt!"--- but remember to be FRIENDLY about it! Don't hurt feelings! Look for the topic called "THE SPICE RACK" intended for heckling, encouragement and general discussion between teams!

How do I sign up?
Step 1 - Go to the SPICE sign up thread and let us know you are in! On the start date of the challenge, you will be assigned to a team with a team captain.
Step 2 - Send a spark mail message to UNSTOPPABLEJEN by November 1 with the following information (copy and paste the following into your email):

- Neck - Standing, measure your neck at its largest girth, right over the Adam's apple.
- Arm - Measure at its largest girth, relaxed with arms at side.
- Chest - Standing, measure with breath out just over the nipple.
- Waist - Standing, measure at the narrowest point.
- Belly Button- Standing, measure around your stomach area with the tape directly over your belly button.
- Hips - Measure at the largest girth, where the butt is protruding the greatest.
- Thigh - Standing, measure at the largest girth.
- Calf - Seated if you are measuring yourself or standing if you have a partner, measure at its largest girth.
