Awe....Katie....that is so sweet....I sure do miss my furry companion, and they are SO in tune with us and our moods.....what a blessing!!!

I sometimes will take a nice warm bath with scented bath salts and listen to calming music....sometimes add in candles.....basically just try to create a calm environment.

All suggestions, besides the eating, are good ones for me....as an emotional eater, that is one choice I cannot afford to make.

I go outside..call my Donkey Skinner and do a walk about in the pasture..telling him all about it!
He is a safe outlet and seems to sense the difference in my moods. When I am really upset he will not walk with me..but rather puts his big ole head on my shoulder like a big hug.

When you're stressed, what do you usually do?

Reach for food--fast!
Walk or exercise to clear my head
Relax with deep breathing, meditation or yoga
Call a friend to talk it out
Lash out at others for no reason
Go on a shopping spree

FOR ME....I go window shopping...I don't necessarily buy something. I like to see other people and look in the shops. It makes me feel sooooooo much better.

I usually gain a pound or two, but it comes off by mid January. Maybe this year will be different, but I don't think I will panic if the same pattern occurs again...lol

Do you usually gain weight over the holidays?

Yes- I feel like it's inevitable!
No- My weight doesn't fluctuate
Don't know- I don't pay attention

FOR ME.....Yes I do gain a couple of pounds during the holidays. But I know that ahead of time so I don't give myself a hard time. I just go at the exercising portion a little harder.

I like that mine is growing and is still coarse. My mom's and aunts hair are thinning as they grow older. Mine doesn't seem to be taking that route.

Hey Marj! I would LOVE silver hair....mine has some in it, but also varying shades of brown....I guess the thing I like the most is the texture--I have a lot of hair, but it is more fine than coarse, so it's very soft.

I rarely use the computer at work, just for logging our tasks and checking the schedule, 2 minutes at a time, maybe 5 times a day. I do have an hour when I work at a standing table covering new books, my favorite task, it is height adjustable should I feel the need to sit, very rarely. Doing my job involves moving hundreds of books daily so I'm squatting, stretching up, always moving, sitting is not done!

My computer chair has a fitness ball on it. It's quite comfortable. I find that with a real fitness ball, we can move around on it, while the ball on the chair is stable so I can't really move and exercise with it in the same way. But the chair with the ball is the right height while the ball only is not a comfortable height.

No matter how slow you go, you are STILL lapping everybody on the couch.

I would tuck it away for something spontaneous to surprise my DH or DD, an activity like the Painted Caberet downtown where you learn to paint a picture and drink wine ('cept I can't drink but it'd still be fun!)

Sprite was my favorite soda. But if there was ice cream around, then I poured grape soda over it. But I don't drink sodas any more. Now it's water. When we go out to eat, I might have lemonade.

I remember back when I worked for a company in CT they would have their Christmas parties at a very High Class country club. When we sat down to eat there was so much silverware that I didn't know where to start (I was in my early 20"s). I kept watching which spoon or fork others picked up to follow what I should do.

I'm constantly washing my hands whether it is flu season or not. I wash my hands after riding the bus, when going to the restroom, after working on my computer at work, after opening a door, before I cook or eat. If they look like they got something on them I'm washing them. When my grandson was about two years old, he had a thing about washing his hands. If anything got on them, he wanted them washed. I used to wonder where he got that from. I know now. emoticon

Every time I use the restroom.

Anytime I'm going to eat something.
Constantly!

Well since my diagnosis of kidney disease, I have had to drastically cut back my salt and soy sauce, any thing with sodium. So I've been enhancing taste with chicken fat when cooking and eating vegetables and fruit raw. I'm finding food not as interesting anymore as most of what I desire is no longer available to me so while it is boring it is easy. I Thank God fresh veggies and fruit are always available here in SoCal.

What's the best way to enhance the flavor of healthy foods?

1. Adding ingredients like herbs, spices, soy sauce or salt.

2. Buying high-quality ingredients to being with (fresh, local, organic, etc.).

3.Using the best cooking method to lock flavor in the food (broiling, grilling, etc.).

4. Including some healthy fat to help carry the flavor.

5. Other (let us know your method!)

FOR ME...I would say I use all the above...but as little fat as possible.

both - the house phone is for calls to either of us- and for telemarketers and robocalls.
We each have our own cell phones.

Do you have a land line, a cell phone or both?

FOR ME.... I have both. Don't use my cell phone much unless traveling somewhere.

regifting is better than having it sit unused and cluttering things up. I tend to just give it to someone rather than wrap as a gift

I have no problem with it and enjoy a gift that's been re-gifted knowing they didn't just spend $$ on something just to get me a gift, often it's something they know I could use.

What are your thoughts on re-gifting presents?

FOR ME.... I think it is o.k. I would rather have someone else use the gift then have it go to waste.
