Today's Coping Skill is "Compassion: Listen to yourself with respect and care." I know I'm the hardest person for me to have compassion for. It's easier for us to have compassion for others because we are taught how to have compassion for others, but rarely for ourselves. Be kind to yourself- learn how to be kind, do something nice for yourself, and take care of your basic needs. If you are feeling down, be kind! Not only know it will pass, but others have been there. Talk to yourself like you would talk to a friend. Don't be down on yourself. Studies have shown that people who are self-compassionate do better on exams that they have to repeat than people who were down on themselves. So take the time- be kind- to YOU!
