Folks with type-2 diabetes have blood sugar that is too high.

There are a few factors in this:
- eating too many carbs
- over production of glucose by the liver (gluconeogenesis)
- not enough insulin production by the pancreas

Eating Keto would address the first point of not eating too many carbs.

The production of glucose in the liver, the second point, is the cause of higher blood sugar in the morning, called the dawn effect.

Lastly it is possible that ones pancreas is weak an not producing enough insulin to manage the higher blood sugar.

While I thought for years that metformin made existing insulin more effective, I just recently learned that metformin is sometimes used for weight loss, and this made no sense to me.

But what I've read recently is that metformin reduces the livers over production of glucose, and this makes more sense to me. Excess glucose is managed by insulin, which stores it away, but not producing it in the first place would lower blood sugar, and also perhaps help with weight loss.
