WATCHDARIDE1: I did a fat fast to break out of the plateau. And the last time it only took two days before I started to see the scale move again. But that means about half the calories you are consuming now, and at least 75% - 85% fat intake.

NIGHTSKYSTAR: You are 100% correct. My bad! It's the volume that differs greatly, not the actual weight. Fat takes up much more volume in the body than muscle - about 4 times as much if I remember correctly. So you can weigh the same and actually be getting thinner.

So how did you guys get out of a weight loss plateau . I assume a plateau is when your body adjust to calorie intake . I eat twice a day between 12-5 pm . I take in aprox 2000 calories. Been waiting about 4-6 weeks for my body to get use to it and move on with the weight loss .

Actually..and I’m truly not being a smartass, but a pound of muscle weighs exactly the same as a pound of fat. Not sure where that very popular statement started, but it’s wrong.
Take a look at a steak. There’s fat, and there’s the red part, which is muscle. Both take up room. Both contribute to the weight. It’s possible a pound of muscle takes up more room than a pound of fat, but a pound is a pound is a pound...

WATCHDARIDE1: Sounds to me like you are building muscle, which weighs more than fat. But it also helps you BURN fat!!! So don't give up that tennis just yet!

if you go on facebook in the keto groups..or just google exercise and keto, you will see that most say dont do heavy cardio. Lift heavy, walk, etc, but you wont lose if you do heavy cardio. makes no sense to me at all..and i cant tell you the reasoning..only know that i've read it over and over.
I lift heavy. and walk..and i've been stalled since June but thats ok..i can feel my body getting stronger and i feel pretty good...weight loss should always be second to good health!!!
and someday that last 30 will go...LOL!

WATCHDARIDE1,
yes, tennis 3 times a week, this is more strenuous that just going for a walk, and you're doing this after 4 months of Keto.

That fits my thoughts on being Keto-adapted.

On not loosing weigh while exercising, I've go no clue.

James

KOOKERJ8,
I just about passed out going for a walk in my first week of Keto, and the ground was flat.

After that I slowly adapted. I can't say how long that took because I never pressed myself. But lets go with my seasonal thoughts about Keto. I view high carb foods as summer time foods, and low carb foods as winter time foods.

How quickly do the seasons change from summer to winter? It takes about 3 months, and I'd take a guess that to be fully Keto adapted really should take a similar time. If after 12 weeks of Keto you still have energy problems then something is up. But if you are on week 3 ... well it just takes time.

This might sound weird but been on keto for 4 months and started playing tennis 3 times a week for 90 minutes . Great work out . But since i started playing i have been on a weight loss plateau . I could be eating more beacuase you get very hungry after playing . But i feel so much better and healthier . Giving it another couple weeks hopefully i start losing again .

TO KOOKERJ8: I'm at the beginning of week 6 on Keto and have to say I understand what you're saying. I had to shovel snow outside our office on Friday and a colleague wondered why I was so winded after only an hour of shoveling. This was never the case when I was not on Keto. So I know I have to do the exercise thing a little more slowly...have two weeks off around the holidays and will start with something a little less strenuous than shoveling. Dropped 10 lbs in the first month but things are slowing down. Not giving up because NOTHING else that I tried after I gained 20 lbs after quitting smoking 2 years ago worked until I got onto a REGULAR Keto diet. I'm cooking Keto only for me (hubby doesn't get it) and IT'S WORKING so I am sticking with it. I DO feel more energy...even if i did get a bit winded after shoveling (hell, I AM almost 60...) :) So my advice is to take the exercise slowly. Your body is adapting to an entirely new way of burning energy! Hang in there!!

i am no expert, but everything i've read says to forego exercise the first few weeks. then add in slowly. for me, i still walked daily (i have a newfoundland dog that needs to spend some energy, and a knee replacement that MUST be moved or it seizes..) but slower and cut from 2 miles at a time to one..and did it 3 times a day till i worked back up again.
i didnt do macros, or try to be perfect with all the ratios the first 3 weeks. I ate when i was hungry, which seemed to be ALL the time. i know my protein was WAY too high, but i ate NOTHING but true keto foods..ZERO sweeteners, recipes, casseroles, etc..just plain meat, cheese, butter, cream, and a few veggies..zucchini, spinach and cauliflower. And thats it. I didnt get the keto flu till week 3..when i did i added chicken broth and powerade zero and it passed quickly. only then did i get serious about the under 60 gm protein, under 20g total (not net) carbs, and really upping the fat.
due to doing it this way, i had little to no trouble at all....and in those 3 weeks lost 23 pounds...amazing!! and please remember..EVERYONE is different. my sister did the same, lost 13 pounds then stopped..in my opinion because she really pushed the "eat till full" thing...i dont agree with calories in calories out AT ALL,,,but i DO believe there is a limit for everyone.
try not to compare with others..do what feels right for YOUR body..i dont think there is any one set way for everyone. I've seen people posting about eating fruit (Fruit is NOT keto..your body cant tell one sugar from another..those that do use fruit use very very little..i'm talking 3 raspberries..1 or 2 strawberries, or 2 or 3 blackberries..and they are the ONLY fruits really keto approved, and most experts say save them for maintenance and even then only once in a very great while.
unfortunately there is so much misinformation out there that its hard to weed through. For instance..on holidays i use Carbquik to make biscuits. Carbquik is NOT keto...but..it does fall in the macros..and for me? its worth it to be able to have something semi normal, stay in my macros, and have no repurcussions from it. its 4 times a year, if that...so i'd way rather do that than go off..and i feed them to my guests..who love them and cant tell the difference..LOL!! I had an order for chocolate keto cupcakes this week..she wanted 2...and the recipe makes 7. while i generally dont make sweet stuff for myself, you can bet the other 5 cupcakes made their way down my piehole..LOL..one a day..at at 2 carbs a piece i found them worth it!!
So do what you do...keep it keto...and hang in..we are here for you!

Hi, Looking for a bit of advice, Ive done keto a couple of times and have trouble getting past the first few weeks because as soon as I try to exercise I bonk all the time and don't seem to be able to use the ketones Im producing for fuel.
Im well into Ketosis and today and yesterday had to stop on the hill to catch my breath whilst on my daily walks.
How long will it take to get past this stage and get to actually running the engine on ketones?

Stuffing my face with plants.
