there was a great piece on "the magic pill" (netflix) where a woman killed her cancer through keto. sorry to hear about those of you dealing with this horrible thing and wish you many blessing on curing your bodies. lots of prayers for you!!

i 100% believe that food can be poison and it makes me so angry how so society wont open there eyes to this. even schools are poisoning our children with sugar. hate that i have to feel bad for not wanting my child to get the candy rewards. all i can do is make the right changes at home and educate my kiddos.

and soooo happy to be learning about all the wonderful healing foods. the change starts with us and i wont ever give up the fight.

Hi everyone, I was recently diagnosed with breast cancer and I have chronic lymphatic leukemia which is stable and does not require treatment.I am interested in adapting a plant based keto diet but cannot find a 'good vegan/veggie recipe book.
I have opted to try and improve my situation by cutting out all sugar, doing intermittent fasting, taking 9 high dosage vitamin c tablets and exercising on a daily basis.
I have also contacted the virotherapy clinic in Latvia where there have an injection which kills he cancer stem cells. This costs 7000euros. I have also emailed Oasis of Hope in MEXICO. treatment here is approx 22,000 pounds.

@BLESSOME iím Very sorry about your diagnosis. Hope you are doing well as you work thru treatment.

Iím new here and am looking at keto to avoid cancer, avoid diabetes, lose weight, improve my health. Nerve inflammation is my primary motivation and Iím finding the carb decrease does help. I want this gone! Cutting carbs matters. And yes the decrease in carbs starves cancer cells when you take sugar/carbs away. If you have skin tags they begin to decrease, disappear. They are a diabetes red flag.A very food book I just finished is Sugar Crush...by Dr. Jacoby. It will motivate you to get on keto and stay on it.

I was just thinking about H.Pylori the other day. I was told I had it, but didn't find out until much later that I wasn't actually tested properly for it, so how did the doctor come to this conclusion?

But whatever was going on with my body at the time, was taken care of by Bladderwrack herbal pills. I've been misdiagnosed by doctors so many times I've lost faith in them.

If eating keto gives your body's cells the 'edge' to starve out the malignant ones... 'nuff said, right??!?? (All chemo is, is playing a waiting game to starve out whatcha you don't want growing). And if a diet change for furry pets with epilepsy is all you have to do to keep them off meds? Win win, right?

I figure the link between the keto diet and health problems is at a point where H. pylori and gastric ulcers were 10 years ago. Now they regularly test/treat for H. pylori to see whether a course of antibiotics can stop the progression. Simple solution but you have to believe in the cause and effect.

I type oncology reports (for Western Australia and the Gold Coast) from home and can't wait to start seeing those specialists talk about keto...still waiting...I have seen some alternative medicine show up in those reports. ECGC from green tea for cancer treatments (see link: www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/art
icles/PMC3
509513/
) has shown up more than a couple of times.

Meta analyses of studies are the best, as it's an analysis of multiple studies, kind of like an average of many of them....not to wax technical ...trying to keep it easy to read.

Thank you for posting the links and sharing this information. I have been researching foods and it's connection to cancers for years; about 11 years now.

A lot of my family members have issue with dairy and in 2007 I cut it out of my diet and naturally lost weight. I did this to avoid the connection to cancer. It was also in one of Dr. Oz's books, but I don't think he talks about this anymore. =/

Since this time, my mother was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. Supposedly that is now gone, but it has spread to various other areas in her body. I just recommended the keto diet to her on the basis that cancer cells do thrive on sugar and if it's cut out, including carb glucose, then the cancer cells don't have any food.

I'm thrilled that more doctor's are taking this way of eating seriously in curing/healing cancer. What I do know, is that the old methods that have been around forever: burn, poison, cut, doesn't always work and isn't the answer. We need better answers.

For many years now I've felt there are good foods and there are bad foods. I know SP doesn't like to label any foods as bad. However, if some foods heal, we know that some foods do the opposite; poison to our bodies. How can we fight what we don't acknowledge?

Thank you for this team, and again, thank you for sharing the links on cancer and the keto "diet". emoticon

I am so sorry to hear this BLessOMe. Sending much love and support your way.

Also, as a volunteer with the American Cancer Society I would be remiss if I didn't mention some of the ways they can support you. They do have a website with lots of great info and a 24/7 phone line that they will literally find an answer to ANY question you have regarding your diagnosis and treatment. (Literally ANY question) 1-800-227-2345. They also have programs to help provide rides to treatments if you need it, and also a program called "look good, feel better" for women to learn new skin care and make up needs and a program that provides low cost or free wigs if you should need one during treatment, and much more. If you want more info feel free to reach out, or you can call that 1800 number and they will take care of you!

I was recently diagnosed with breast cancer and although I just had surgery to remove it, I haven't actually begun treatment yet.

I also haven't done much in the way of "cancer" research yet which is very strange for me since I research everything else as much as I can. I guess I want to have the final (extended) biopsy results before I go that route.

I was eating Keto for weight loss but had also heard about it's having the potential for cancer fighting benefits. Since my diagnosis, I did begin to read a bit about that relationship.

Thank you for the information. I am looking forward to reading it and to hopefully finding more information of this type.

A link from Richard (RKOTTEK) on Keto and Cancer, and another link I found:

It looks like that article can be related to this one:

If cancer thrives on sugar and carbs, then cutting that, by going into Ketosis could essentially starve them.

I did a very fast skim...mostly just reading your conclusion James. I do find it interesting that about 10-15 years ago several pet food companies created prescription diets for dogs and cats that were specifically for neurological cases and a second food for cancer patients. While cancer treatments are often tested on animals, including dogs, it wasn't (and still isn't) all that common for our furry family to go though major cancer treatments. They are very invasive, very expensive, and most people can't pay for that level of treatment for their animal friends. Anyway, I say that to say that looking back at both of those foods, created for dogs, they closely align with a keto diet. The idea being higher fat and low carb diets would aid in the treatment and possibly slow down cancer growth and, similar to keto being used to treat seizures before medication existed, the higher fat and lower carb diets showed beneficial therapeutic support for dogs suffering from several neurological processes.

Now I'm going to have geek out and do some further research to see what has come of those diets (ive been out of the veterinary field for 4 years.)

I have read that some cancer cells need sugar to grow. I am determined that if I have any in my body I REFUSE to feed them!

I'm sure we all know that in the crevices of our brain somewhere - even if we don't really want to acknowledge it. LOL! It is hard to ignore though when it is working!

APPLEVEE,
I think most of us just take how we feel as part of life ... that's just how things are.

When you change your diet, like eating Keto, you suddenly discover just how taxing eating poorly is on your body.

When you eat Keto, just by the diet's design, you are increasing the nourishment per calorie eaten. Sugar, the purest of carbs, has no minerals, vitamins, protein, essential fats, nothing, just calories. In a sense other high carb things are just approaching sugar. When you cut those nutritionally empty calories, suddenly you feel much better, ... you are truly nourishing your body.

It seems that cancer cells may not do so well when you eat Keto.

I have to say that I don't understand most of this article:
www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PM
C4
215472/

But I do understand the conclusion:
"Ketogenic diets could represent a potential dietary manipulation that could be rapidly implemented for the purpose of exploiting inherent oxidative metabolic differences between cancer cells and normal cells to improve standard therapeutic outcomes by selectively enhancing metabolic oxidative stress in cancer cells."

It says Keto could improve standard therapies.

Oxidative stress in cancer cells ... that means eating Keto makes things tougher on them.
