2017 Summer 5% Challenge

Checklist & Exercise Plan

Supplies - Just got my Chlorine Resistant swim clothes! I'm ready now!

Exercise Plan -

Water Zumba and N2 Deep classes (both are water classes) Every Tuesday and Thursday working my way up to adding Monday night classes.

If I miss a water class, then I will either add a walking or biking workout!

Hit my 5000 step goal everyday for two weeks and then increase my goa.

Track on SP since this seems to be my hardest task!

2017 Summer 5% Challenge

Topic 1 - Checklist & Exercise Plan
Supplies - check

Exercise Plan -
- Continue to water walk in outdoor pool at least 30 minutes, at least 5 x / wk, increasing intensity/duration as tolerated
- Explore options for when the pool closes, I'm away, or have a flare up: strength training, chair exercises, videos etc. at least once a week.
- Track on SP as it helps keep me motivated
- to do the best I can when back or knees flare up instead of giving up
- use the Fibit, gradually increasing step goals

Fitness Plan for Summer 5% Challenge:


3 days of weight training a week -starting at 56 minutes but will gradually increase or decrease as I increase reps to 25 and then decrease reps but raise intensity and build back to 25 reps
walking every day
calisthenics every day at 15 minutes duration
dancing every day
alternative exercise opportunities as they arise (ex. swimming, badmitton, throwing the frisbee)

for at least 2 hours a day total

Information and Exercise plan

Daily goal - 10000 steps a day
Main exercise is walking or biking.

We have some very active vacation plans so I'm hoping that I'll make my daily goals and then some.

I am really not following a diet, however I eat healthy unprocessed whole foods for about 90% of the time. I do allow for a treat now and then when I plan ahead.

I lost my initial 15 lbs by meal planning and advance meal prep. In the summer meal prep is not that feasible with everyone on different schedules so I prepare a vegetable plate with hummus to snack on.

I'm ready to lose those pesky pounds that keep hanging on.....

Check List - 2017 Summer 5% Challenge

I have joined a gym to help me in my recovery from knee surgery. It's so close to my home that I can just wear my exercise clothing, which are starting to be too big for me.

My exercise plan is to start every day with a 1 1/2 - 2 mile walk with Daisy. I am going to commit to two days per week at the gym warming up with cardio and then using the strength machines. I am also going to work with a personal trainer once a month.

I have not yet posted my 2017 Summer 5% Challenge Exercise Commitment on your Spark Page but will do that soon.

Have you got your gym clothes, runners, water bottle, etc. ready to go? As ready as they'll ever be. I don't really own any workout clothes; I usually just make do with what I have on. I'm hoping to find some time to go shopping on Saturday, though, and see what I can find.

What is your exercise plan? Push my daughter around the trailer park most days. Walk to Wal-Mart and back when I actually have money to spend. I've also added some strength training to my routine starting tomorrow,

Have you got your gym clothes, runners, water bottle, etc. ready to go? Yes! I just have to get into the habit of putting my clothes out the night before.

What is your exercise plan? I will be doing T25 at least 3-5 times a week and running 3 miles or more two times a week. I will eventually add in a strength training challenge later.

Always get them ready the night before as I leave at 5am and don't want to wake the family.

What is your exercise plan? I go to the gym. They allow 30 mins on each machine. The reward is the steam room and sauna!

What is your exercise plan? I love to strength train at home using various dumbbells and pure body weight. For quick cardio I skip rope. In addition to this I use my kitchen scale religiously. This summer season I want to explore more of the local nature areas, go for walks in the forest etc... oh yes. 8 glasses of water per day!

I have my treadmill set up in the living room to use while I watch TV, have multiple pairs of good tennies to wear, a variety of workout clothes, a fan and water bottles. I also have a pair of tennies at work for walking during my lunch hour.

What is your exercise plan? Mostly WALKING, treadmill or outdoors. I may try to get myself in the habit of doing my yoga video as well, and start working on some strength moves too.

Did you post your 2017 Summer 5% Challenge Exercise Commitment on your Spark Page? Yes, I commit to 30 minutes or more per day at least 4 days per week. I will likely do significantly more, but I wanted a goal I felt confident about, and since I've been slacking, I didn't want to push TOO hard and end up injured!

10,000 steps daily goal. Also joined a Stepney to help reinforce this.
Walking atleast 30 mins 5 days a week at night qhen my boyfriend gets home from work abd can watch the children. My heartrate doesn't get high enough when they join me.
Strength exercises at home at least 15 mins 3 days a week.

I will just continue what I have been doing to maintain. Always being mindful of portion control.I eat a healthy fresh food based diet that includes mostly fruits and vegetables with fish and small amounts of meat I will focus on stretching and walking as my exercise and may add a small amount of bike riding .

Yes. I usually usually get myself all setup the night before.

What is your exercise plan?
I am currently doing Beachbody programs. I'm doing Cize right now and after that I'll either do Country Heat or P90. I am planning to workout 6 days a week. When I'm at the beach and can't stream my workouts (bc of internet connections) I will walk down there.

Yes. I usually plan the night before and have everything ready

What is your exercise plan?
My plan is to decide the night before what I will be doing in the morning.
I will be focusing on at least 45 mn of cardio 6 x a week with a focus on tabata and hiit workouts. I will be doing S.T. 3 and core exercises 3 x a week

Countdown to emoticon Checklist


Have you got your gym clothes, runners, water bottle, etc. ready to go? Yes. I just bought some super cute tanks and a couple more sport bras. I am ready for the heat and the humidity of summer. Bring it on!

What is your exercise plan? I will be doing strength training at the gym with my son on Monday, Wednesdays, and Fridays for at least 45 minutes. I will be doing Beach Body workouts (Cardio) on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays. I spend Saturdays at the beach. Usually do a 3+ beach walk, and spend ALOT of time in the water. Sundays are my given rest day, but I usually end up walking in the park, or another stroll on the beach.

Plus Zumba and Yoga as often as I can.

Summer 5% exercise plan

walking 30 minutes 5 days a week

joined new gym & passed on weight testing, push ups & sit ups testing. I was advised most people my age, 54 can not do everything I did!. I am better then most my age.

Gym plan go 3 times a week, see instructor next week to work out plan

I bought new runners recently.

I have pleurisy, 2 types of anemia, macrocytic anemia, Iron deficiency anemia, from blood transfusions with wrong antibodies, causes blood to replace daily instead of 100 days, chronic pneumonia, pleurisy, chronic kidney disease, a partially collapsed lung, low blood pressure & blood clots in both lungs for 3 years. Now formed scar tissue.I am 56 years old. I had cervical cancer 6 years ago, no signs last 4 years as well. I have new blood clots now,2019.I am on P.S.T. time zone.

I got some information last night for this little gym in my small town. I will join the gym before this challenge starts as I am waiting for an e-mail to sign disclosure paperwork. Then I will mail my check. I will be doing the elliptical, exercise bike, and will be able to do my DVD's in a bigger area. I am really excited. I will be working out 45 to 60 minutes 6 days a week. I have also joined the local pool and they have water arobecis 2 days a week. I also try to get a walk in while I'm at work on my breaks!

1) Walk to the community library box and then around the pond.
2) Walk in the forest to the view point and meander my way back
3) Light weights while I watch the news - 10,000 minutes
4) Functional fitness - get 2,000 steps in the house cleaning
5) Functional fitness - put on knee pads and crawl on the floor 5 minutes
6) Functional fitness - get up and down off the floor 15 times

I'm aiming for a mixture of cardio and ST for at least 40 minutes a day, 5 days a week for this challenge. Saturdays and Sundays will have at least 10 minutes each of yoga, and if I feel like throwing some cardio or walking in, even better! :)

I am ready. I am aiming for 30 on the treadmill each day that is not vacation. During vacation I never seem have any issue getting in Exercise, cause walks on the beach are so fun

Summer 5% exercise commitment:
1. 3 weight training sessions a week, total 3 hours.
2. 2 yoga classes and 2 water aerobics classes a week, total 4 hours.
3. Additional 200 minutes minimum doing aerobic exercise to include walking, spinning, stationary bike, swimming, or videos. If my knees allow, a daily neighborhood walk 7 days a week.

This is the MOST realistic for ME.

MWF - 45 Minutes of cardio-- Monday optional (Mondays just suck for me)

TTH- Start with 10 min cardio to get warmed up, then, ST LEG DAYS (weights squats, burpees, planks) - 20-30 minutes

Saturday - Long jog day

Sunday 45 Minutes of cardio

emoticon & emoticon Welcome 5% Challengers new and returning. The countdown to the Challenge is so exciting as we gather together and get ready for take-off.

Regardless of what you have been doing, remind yourself daily "I used to be that way, but now I am different"... quote by Linda Spangle. Empower yourself! Our challenge is not just about losing weight, it's also about having a strong healthy body.

Starting today - aim for at least 20 minutes of daily exercise to gain momentum and surge into Summer. You can break it into smaller sessions if that helps. It is important to remember to stay physically active. But don't mistake being busy for being physically active, you need exercise.

Take part in the Countdown Activities. It will help you develop your personal action plan for success. You are off to a FRESH start and in the future you will join your team for an exciting 8 week Challenge. Do these activities here as you have time. When you put thought into your actions and desired outcomes it helps you make successful plans and outcomes.

Our Leaders are setting up the Challenge behind the scenes. Your team invitation will be going out later in the month and you will have time to get to know your leaders and team mates. On the FIRST DAY of the Challenge, please weigh in and note your weight so you have it ready to record on your team page. If you will be away please post earlier, before you leave.

Exercise

Resources - Dust off the scale, get your exercise clothes out where you can see them, pull out the runners, find the gym bag, wash and fill the water bottle, find the pedometer, the heart rate monitor, swim suit, dog leash if you have a dog, take the clothes off the treadmill, find your Biggest Loser workout DVDs, see what exercise programs are at your gym, on TV, Spark TV, youtube, or learn to use Map My Walk on Spark, find a Meetup group that walks, dances or bikes. Look on freecycle.com for a free treadmill or exercise bike, or fix the flat tires on your bike and get out there.

Tip - put a pair of runners and a hat in the car so you are ready to walk any time.

Program - Plan on what exercise you actually will do. If you are just starting out aim for consistency; will you walk daily for 10 minutes? If you have been exercising for awhile can you challenge yourself to increase the intensity and time? Follow Spark exercises for upper, core, lower and whole body exercises. Look at chair exercises if you have mobility issues or to add additional exercise minutes while you watch TV. Spark exercises are excellent and require little equipment, and are the same as other professional trainers assign.
