I will be working on portion control. I will also be working on getting more fruits and veggies in.

I follow the nutritional guidelines set up on SP and aim to get all of my numbers and my nutritionist telling me to get no less than 70-90 grams of protein, which was my main problem. I do want to get better at planning meals, though.

I was on a 1400 calorie range until I found out my weight and saw that a higher range was better for weight loss. It's weird to me to have to eat MORE food to be able to lose weight!

Do you know what diet you will follow? We are adding juicing to our lives currently so the "diet" for me will eventually be 2 juices/day and 1 clean meal and 2 healthy snacks if needed. Water and unsweetened tea for drinks.

Do you know what diet you will follow? Tracking and counting calories and stayng withing the range Spark People recommends.. Moderate complex carbs with higher protein every time I eat. 5-6 freggies, 3 dairy, higher fiber, lots of H2O.

Found some recipes? I want to concentrate on easy recipes and develop some new crock pot meals.

Grocery list? Trying to stick to a list left on kitchen counter to fill out all week while planning meals.

Shop? Once a week. Sometimes with older DD. Always after a good meal so I'm not hungry.

I will be following the Atkins Diet using the old school method in his older book with real food, not any of the packaged stuff they push now. I have a few Atkins and low carb cookbooks, but most of the time I eat just basic foods, no recipe required. I do have a list, but have yet to grocery shop, however I do have plenty on hand since I've been following this diet since January. My kitchen is clean and my commitment is posted.

Nutrition is changing.
Intermittent fasting schedule: Eating between 7 am breakfast and 2 - 3 pm. Fasting the rest of the day.

I will track my food daily, and stay within my calorie limits. I have problems getting this done when I watch my grandkids, and prepare meals for all of them. I think I will just keep things simple (i.e. meat and potatoes) when I'm cooking for all eight of us and see if this helps my ability to track. The problem is that everyone has different likes/dislikes, etc. so I end up exhausted and eat too much. Simply tracking my food daily enables me to lose weight. Once I get consistent again, I will see if I should lower my upper caloric limit.

Yes, I want to follow the Mediteranian diet, but my blood thinner pills are being changed and the new ones require 3 hospital I.V. treatments weekly to check the amount of potassium,so how much potassium foods you can eat can change 3 times a week with the amount of medication,this happened before, so I will use the Spark people food tracker with potassium added to it,so I eat the same amount daily,not easy to do. If I eat the same amount daily there will be no changes done at the hospital to my diet.
I have checked out some mediteranian recipes and menu tips.

I have pleurisy, 2 types of anemia, macrocytic anemia, Iron deficiency anemia, from blood transfusions with wrong antibodies, causes blood to replace daily instead of 100 days, chronic pneumonia, pleurisy, chronic kidney disease, a partially collapsed lung, low blood pressure & blood clots in both lungs for 3 years. Now formed scar tissue.I am 56 years old. I had cervical cancer 6 years ago, no signs last 4 years as well. I have new blood clots now,2019.I am on P.S.T. time zone.

It’s time to decide what diet if any you will stick to for 8 weeks. There are many to choose from - Spark, South Beach, Weight Watchers, American Heart Association, Diabetes Diet, Dr. Oz, Mayo Clinic, Mediterranean Diet, USDA Diet, Canada Food Guide, Dukan, Paleo, The Full Plate Diet or whatever else you choose. Everyone is different and you need to have a plan that works for you, with food that you like. Browse online or at the library for new recipes and have them ready. Regardless of the plan you choose follow the set of standard guidelines recommended by the plan.

Know what you will commit to for 8 weeks of the challenge and have your fridge and pantry ready with what you need. Find the measuring cups and food scale and have them handy. Declutter your counter, clean the fridge and be ready to make nutritious meals. Go through the kitchen and if there is food you should not eat make a donation to the food bank, and throw out the junk food. If it’s not in the house you won’t eat it.

Set yourself up for success with a weekly menu plan complete with recipes attached, then it will be easier to make the shopping list to include the foods you need for those meals. It’s helps when you are shopping for specific things and helps with impulse control in the food store (keeps the junk food out).

Enjoy the foods you eat, as they are making you healthier and helping you attain your goals. Be ready to try new foods or new ways to prepare food.
