Here I am almost 4 weeks since I left my husband of 20 years. I am now in a rebuilding phase. I am staying with my parents for now. I love living in there house. They are away for 7 weeks so I am house sitting for them. I have been offered a job and will be starting work again soon. This is also a time of loving myself and taking good care of Linda. It feels great having that freedom. Yes, I miss him but I don't miss the abuse. Now I am getting rid of a different kind of clutter...emotional clutter. It will take some time. They say it takes 1 year for every 5yrs you were married or in a relationship.

Just a couple of days left. The trucks rolled out of Boston a few days ago. (I was stuck in a storm without much access to the interwebs... so a belated HAPPY TRUCK DAY!! to us all)

Hurdles happen, streaks end. Looks like we have all learned the lesson. It's not necessarily about failing. It's about picking ourselves up, dusting off and getting back at it.

A few bad days won't sink the ship. Some days, you just have to keep bailing until the sun starts shining again!!

Be well. Spark On!!

Hi, all--

I just realized I haven't checked in on this challenge a while. I've been having a tough go of it lately. My compulsive overeating has reared its ugly head, making any progress really difficult.

Still, I can count a few successes:
I gained weight, then lost it again, so I'm still at about a 3 lb. loss total
I've managed to get back on track with healthier eating over the last week
I had a 33-day exercise streak going; I broke it last week, but have since recommitted and started a new streak

Looking forward to finishing this challenge in a better place than I started and embracing the next challenge with gusto!

Best,
Megan

Hello Red Sox champion Spark team,

Here it is about 40 days into the new year and all I've gone to the gym maybe 5 or 6 times. Certainly not the bang I wanted to start the new year off with. I've had lots of excuses and not enough motivation although I have been moving. I'm putting in some serious minutes at work and the things around the house like the nordic track friends. I got a dumbbell in a curl bar that I toss around to tighten up. Ive been trying to look into the p90 X tapes that I bought 3 years ago and never used an the eating less ice cream and getting more exercise.

I haven't done as much on the decluttering as I intended, though I am getting rid of some of the duplicate small kitchen appliances that are sitting in my basement today by donating them to a single dad trying to start over with his daughter. My mother is collecting items for them as the home he is renovating was ransacked and stripped of just about everything usable. Hopefully getting those few things out of the basement will motivate me to completely reorganize it and get things taken care of finally!

I'm doing fairly well on losing weight/inches (down 5 pounds this month!), though I haven't been doing my dvd workouts. I've been doing much better on portion control and cutting out the junk food. I'm a little behind on my fitness minutes, I plan to restart that goal for February and already have my fitness challenge worked out for the month. My fiance is determined to be back at his high-school fitness level by the time his deployment is over, so I have a competitive urge to keep up with him! :-)

In terms of decluttering my apartment it looks like I will be getting rid of almost everything. My husband and I are splitting up after 20 years of marriage. We are parting our ways as friends for now while he "rediscovers" himself. I am moving back to MA so I won't be bringing much with me. Looks like I will be starting over when I get back to my home town. I did not like Florida all that much and now I will be able to watch most of the Sox games this summer.

A quick check-in:

- I'm still sugarfree
- I tried a new type of workout (using the YourShape videogame on the Xbox) and enjoyed it so much that I'm planning to do it three times this week
- I've lost 3.3 lbs so far

Best,

Week 1 Check-in:

- I've been off sugar for a week!
- I'm successfully eating more fruit and vegetables (funny how easy that is when you're not filling up on sugary junk instead)
- I still haven't settled into what I would consider a program, but I have exercised nine days in a row

And inspired by others' commitment to de-clutter, I made headway in my study and my closet. I still have filing and weeding out to do, but at least I can sit and work at my desk, and see all the clothes I own.

Best,
Megan

Week 1 Check-in: Cleaned out my closet & dresser yesterday & caught up on a ton of laundry. I removed a big box of clothing to take to a donation center. The room isn't complete, but it's much better! I haven't been doing my exercise DVD yet, but I have been doing squats, planks & inclined push-ups and keeping my intake within acceptable levels, so I'm back to the weight I was at before I gained over Christmas. I do need to get going on that DVD though! I need to get into a daily habit of doing 20-30 minutes of cleaning & organizing every day after work and doing my video before I allow myself to sit down to check facebook, because once I do that all motivation just drains away! I've joined a fitness minutes challenge (1200 in January) and challenged myself to be down 5 pounds at the end of the month as well, a little behind on the minutes, but doing good on the weight loss!

Goals:
1- Declutter/reorganize one room per week (kitchen/dining room, living room, my bedroom, kids' bedroom, basement game room, basement storage room)- When this is accomplished, I give myself permission to go buy that elliptical I've been considering!
2- Complete my bridal-bootcamp DVD set.
3- Be stronger & leaner (not putting a weight loss goal, I just want to be able to get into my favorite jeans without squirming & wriggling)

This challenge is great for me! seven weeks from now is the week before my finals for my college term. I've already failed this class once, so my goal is to get a C in the class, before the final.

Be careful what you say. Once said, words cannot be unsaid, they can only be forgotten. When someone forgives you for your mistakes, it doesn't mean they have forgotten about them.

So far so good with exercising every day this month. I even got time in on the elliptical on Saturday and Sunday this past weekend. Hope everyone else is doing well.

Here is the direct link to the Patriots team. They are listed as - New England Patriots - which may be difficult to find. www.sparkpeople.com/myspark/groups_i

I think they've been a little quiet this year as most of us fans watch the games, holding our breath, through our fingers, like kids watching a horror story. But Bill, Brady and the boys are in the playoffs, so run over and join away!!

Hi.

In answer to your question about the Patriots Spark Team: There is one. New England Patriots. I just joined it.

As for my decluttering, it is coming along nicely. I have eliminated most of my email. It is under 100 now and I tossed out all my expired coupons. I am currently setting up a system for my couponing and emails so I don't build them up again. My 2012 financial records and receipts are next on the list. I am feeling lighter already and I have only scratched the surface.

Happy New year everyone!

Hi fellow Red Sox Nation SPals!

My pledge is to set up and then adhere to a regular exercise plan. I started on Sat 1/4 and this is the plan:
M, Th, Sa - ST for 30 mins or until routine/reps completed
Tu, F, Su - Cardio for 30 mins (at a minimum)
Wed = rest day

Although 6 days are listed, my Goal is 4-5 days so that I'm flexible if "life" happens and I need to rearrange my days!

Thanks for doing this! It helps to write my Goal down and now I have the 21 days X 2 to make exercise a HABIT!

Can't wait for the season to begin!

Btw, if there are any Patriots fans out there, why isn't there a Patriots SPark Team? Justr curious!!

I pledge to swim 4 days a week after work (I just got hired at a fitness pool company, talk about a perk!), and do strength training one additional day per week.
I pledge to get to bed an hour earlier than I used to before my new job, so that I can retain a better sleep schedule and more healthy sleep length.
I pledge to check in with SparkPeople every day for motivation and tracking.

Let's do this! Love that Dirty Water! ;-)

Great goals! I can feel some powerful energy here. I'll be posting some information about goal setting when I get to a real computer.

Don't forget, if you need help, ask for it. We are all in this boat together and even though we may have some different goals, we also have different strengths! For example: I know that I'm planning on organizing and decluttering. If anyone out there has some hints or a website or book that might help, feel free to post that info.

Thank you!!

They say it takes 21 days to make a habit so this is time to make new habits doubly secure...

So
Measure and track everything
Limit the booze
Get an exercise plan in place and do it
Hopefully break through the 250 plateau

So for the mathematically challenged- How long does this 44 day thing go? Is that until Valentines Day?

My goal is to lose 2 pounds. Seriously. I gained so much in 2013. I'm going for baby steps here.

My P & C Challenge:
For the next 44 days I will begin a training for the World Masters Championship Highland Games in Scotland this September. I have a new trainer that I will begin working with this week.

Here are MY personal goals:
emoticon Lift more
emoticon Rehab my injured hip/low back
emoticon Eat better
emoticon Reduce size (I am NOT putting weight as a goal as I may gain muscle and lose fat which could be upping my weight, but lower size!!)

Patriots, Red Sox, Keto, Zumba, Highland Games are my passions. I may live in Oregon but my heart still roots for Boston!!

44 days is just under 7 weeks.

Here's the Challenge:
~Set a goal. Make it your own. Remember that this journey is NOT just about weight loss!!!
~Do whatever it takes to reach that goal for the next 44 days.
~Report back at least once a week.

Here are some examples:
Lose 1 pound a week (more, less, it's up to YOU!!)
Organize one room every 5 days
Run/Walk/Lift/Swim/Play (you get the idea right?) for X amount of time per week
Lose one size between now and then.
Journal every day.
Eat (or drink) MORE (water, veggies, fruit, vitamins, healthy meat) or LESS (caffeine, alcohol, sugar, wheat, fat, carbs, bacon {although who would want to do that??? })

This Challenge is up to YOU.
