One thing you could do is if you're eating toast, cereal, or fruit for breakfast would be to have a scrambled egg or two and a tomato. That generally keeps me full until lunch. That in itself would help even out your protein to carb ratio.

Or if you have a sandwich for lunch, make it an open faced one or make it a half sandwich with twice the turkey or ham.

So you're not completely cutting out carbs, you're trimming them down while replacing them with a good protein source.

I got rid of most carbs - no pasta, rice, bread, starchy veggies (potatoes, corn, peas, etc.), no foods with added sugar, very little dairy (unsweetened/unflavoured greek yogurt once in a while in a smoothie, and cheese, on occasion, for snacks), and I limit myself to one serving of fruit a day (usually berries or a banana). I'm eating at least 80g of protein a day and manage to be under 30g of carbs most of the time. I have to say, I thought this would be difficult, but it wasn't. Getting rid of most carbs got rid of hunger and cravings and I can get by on so must less than before. Plus, i have a lot more energy, no longer have any digestive issues, and my face no longer breaks out. I've done this since January of this year and have lost 80 pounds so far. It's been an amazing change and I can't believe I didn't try it sooner.

I am going thru this right now. It's amazing when you start logging food the number of carbs in some food! OMG.

I downloaded the ATKINS 20 Foodie meal plan and am going thru and picking out things that will work for us. Have any of you looked at it?? Goodness!!!

We can and will do this!!

evaluate what you're eating. Carbs are important, but most people have a lot of them in their diet. Some carbs affect your blood sugars and others not so much. Can you cut back on obvious white flour carbs? (Bread, cereals, pasta, sugar) Carbs are not just flour related either - Rice and other grains are carbs, beans and potatoes are carbs.

Here is my advice to you....focus on eating more whole, less processed foods. The "rules" for eating carbs seems to be changing all the time. In my opinion you can't go wrong eating whole foods.

good afternoon everyone!
so I am day 13 of restart. so I figured good time to check where I am at - make adjustments you know the good stuff! :) well it says I am at like 72% carbs and 13% protein. ummm, not sure how that is going on. maybe I am really dense or something but I am staying under my calories and I am eating small portions... so how do I start to move from whatever is the carb issue to eating a lower percent and raising the protein? any suggestions would be awesome. thank you.
