My motivations -- my son- my dog, and my cat.

My son has a seizure disorder caused from an unknown illness sixteen years ago. There were 19 others that fell ill with the same symptoms, and he's the only one that went home -- have were institutionalized and the other half passed away. His strong will to live keeps him going.

My dog Lucy was diagnosed with lymphoma four years ago. She's still here, even though she has outlived the expected 14 months that she was given with treatment. She hasn't quit yet. She's my wonder dog.

My cat Jake lost his littermate four years ago, and we thought he wouldn't make it as they were very close. He now is hyperthyroid and has high blood pressure and kidney disease, but still plays like a kitten. He's not a quitter.

Our family has a saying on the fridge -- never give up, never quit. I see that every day along with my son, my dog, and my cat, and if they can do it, so can I!

I am taking a free college course on doing well in all aspects of life through emotional intelligence. You get a diploma at the end of it. Everyday we have to list 5 things to be grateful for. They can not be all the same everyday and also how we feel, mentally, emotionally, rationally,spiritually and vocationally daily. We get points for this and other tests as well. We have a final large report to do at the end to pass.

I have pleurisy, 2 types of anemia, macrocytic anemia, Iron deficiency anemia, from blood transfusions with wrong antibodies, causes blood to replace daily instead of 100 days, chronic pneumonia, pleurisy, chronic kidney disease, a partially collapsed lung, low blood pressure & blood clots in both lungs for 3 years. Now formed scar tissue.I am 56 years old. I had cervical cancer 6 years ago, no signs last 4 years as well. I have new blood clots now,2019.I am on P.S.T. time zone.

I have a vision collage in my bathroom cabinet that I refer to - I've learned not to berate myself, but to be thankful for how far I've come. Reminding ourselves that we are worthy or change is important. Somewhere on SP I found a personal contract with a mantra and I filled it out and when I need confirmation I refer to it.

I, Tanya, hereby agree and commit to take the following steps to improve my accountability to myself and increase my chances for weight loss success:

I will not let one small slip-up convince me that I'm stupid, worthless, or a lost cause. I will respect myself by refusing to engage in verbal self-abuse, and I will find positive ways to comfort and support myself when Iím having a hard time. Specifically, I will
1. Remind myself that these steps to better living will take more than one day/month/year and that I am worth every step it takes.
2. Remind myself how I used to weigh 226 (or more) and that I am not the weak person I was then. I am obsessed and strong.
3. I will go straight to SP and read a blog /inspirational story and get right back on the elliptical.
4. I will revisit my own goals, and modify them as needed. This includes making and keeping reward promises.

I will not sacrifice my own needs to make other people happy, or do for them what they can and should be doing for themselves. When there is a conflict between my exercise and eating plans and what other people want me to do, I will negotiate to find a reasonable solution that allows me to do what I need to do for myself.
****** Most importantly, this means that I will not say yes to extra work at school, tutoring when I would rather not, or let people make me feel like I owe them something. Over the years I have already covered all my debts and obligations. I give credit where due, and NOW IS MY TIME!

I choose to be in charge of my own decisions and behavior. I will not talk, think, or act as if my husband, cravings, or subconscious made me do it. I will ask myself whatís most important to me at that moment and make my decision. If I donít like the consequences, I will try something different the next time.

these are great!! I seriously dont even need to tell myself anything. this morning my motivation was being gone for 3 days to the supreme food pusher, my mom's house for my stepdads 85th birthday. and i arrived home last night..and got on the scale this morning...6.4 pounds down from monday! kinda makes it all worth it!

I'm healthy, I'm strong, and I'm determined.

(For me, this provides a nice rhythm for feet and breath when running. Gets me up a hill, helps me refocus when my mind gets too busy, or pushes me through a tough spot to get my second wind. (Or third or fourth wind, depending on the distance of the run, lol)

The Joy of the Lord is my strength. He will help me when I ask.

I can handle 10 minutes. I feel better and my heel feels better when I am consistent with fitness.

I ask myself a question Ė is this on the plan for today? Is it worth it, if itís not on the plan: Remember to stay mindful about eating.

When I feel like quitting, I need to ask myself why I started.

Today is a new day to achieve my goals.

What can you tell yourself when you are thinking of skipping a walk or a workout?
Try at least a few minutes. I at least want to reach my minimum step goal, then I can stop, but usually I keep going after that.

Is there something you can tell yourself when you are reaching for that second helping or that cookie?
Go for a walk. Remember the progress you've made.

Remember to keep track of your exercise minutes and the number of glasses of water you drink so you can record later.

As long as I do get up in time my exercise plan is well planned.
