While I'm dealing with this mysterious medical condition, until I get some answers, and feel better, I can't really expend any energy on cardio. I have to reserve what little oomph I have for my son. He still needs me. But what I CAN do for myself is make sure that what I eat each day is nutritious. And I can take rests whenever possible. Those two things are the best things I can do for my I Matter list right now.

What can I do for myself today?

I'm going to spend this week on the basics: Drink lots of water emoticon eat healthy, nutritious meals. emoticon

There's so many other things I want to do but they can come with time. For now, I want to flush out my system from toxins, and I want to start feeling good again. emoticon emoticon emoticon

I made time for coloring today,and it was a busy day too! emoticon

I made time for exercise. emoticon

I am going to try to do these daily.

I get some emoticon 's this week. I decided my "I Matter" revolved around looking after my skin. It is the one part of my body that I really... well, sometimes I don't like anyone touching me because I have alligator patches. I also have Diabetes so my feet need special care. So I was about to go out and do errands and decided instead to give myself a spa treatment... got my book and filled the tub with warm water and epson salts and soaked my feet. Another day I rummaged around my closet and found my really good skin cream and PUT it on my bathroom counter so I would use it. I also have left my coconut oil on my dressing table. All these have been THOUGHTFUL things to do. Not automatic for sure. I have made the effort because I Matter!

I remember an "aha" moment when I was visiting my best friend and when her kids said "Mom, can you do ___ for me?" she would respond "I would LOVE to do that for you". It is an attitude shift. Sometimes we know we HAVE to do things but I'm suggesting that when we think "I would love to do that for you... because you matter to me" then it changes us and our relationship with that person. Why not with ourselves?

If you made a list last week of things that you can do for yourself to show you "I Matter"... (or if you did not or are working on it,you can still do it... we are a flexible team) this week's challenge is this:

Look at any item on your list and try to do it every day this week. Be mindful. My thinking is this is not a test in perfection but of seeing how we can make something happen and be responsible for ourselves. Rather than say "I have to do this" see what happens when you say "I would LOVE to (exercise, go to bed early, drink water, make a healthy food choice, do my Tai Chi, teach a swim lesson) because I Matter!"

The other part of that is preparation or reminders. It might be love notes you leave for yourself to remind you to do this one thing... or setting up things so they are "ready to go" or in a place where you can see them... or making a call to ask someone to help.

And finally, for this one thing this week, celebrate when you do this. It is easy for us to minimalize our accomplishments but this IS important. Give yourself a emoticon even if it is something you already are doing every day. And if you do not do it, give yourself a hug first. Change is not always easy and realize this is a challenge for YOU so maybe.. .the thing you chose you are not ready to do yet. Try doing something more immediate like taking a few deep breaths (breathing is exercise, part of meditation and relaxing) and give yourself a emoticon for that.
