Betsy went and did both Fairview's and Girard's last week while she was working at Camp Fitch. I haven't done any of them yet. :-(

Shamefully, we've only done 1 so far :-) We did the one in Fairview. It was very nice. I recommend making an entire afternoon of it if you can. In the passport it lists nearby historical sites and other places of interest, so even if the trail itself doesn't take you as long as you thought, you can get some PA history in (think school). I believe the website has coupons you can print for museums and other attractions at each location as well.

Let me know if you want to meet up to do one together. My sister and I had planned to do one each week, but since we've only had one day off in common to do that this summer, I don't think she'd be offended if I went to some with other people. And if she is, too bad. I'm mean like that ;-)

That sounds like fun. I was trying to find where the trails are on the website, but I couldn't seem to find it. I guess I need to pick up a passport.

Have you done many yet? Any favorites?

This is a summer-long activity that I plan to do with my sister and my kids. You pick up a passport from the library, and visit each of the ten trails marked in it (trails are in various places around Erie county). When you're at each trail, you have to find a code and enter it into your passbook. If you visit all 10 trails (and turn in all of the codes) you are entered in a drawing for a mountain bike and some other prizes. Somehow local history is worked into all of this, but from the website I can't tell how. Looks like a lot of fun. I'll be exploring some new places, getting some exercise, getting lots of pics of my kids for my scrapbook- what's not to love? I can't wait!
