I had to think about this for a while ... my original motivation was my bionic knees! 2 years ago I had both my knees replaced, and realized that if I really want to enjoy all the freedom they offer me I had to start losing some of the weight I've gained over the years. Not only will I be able to do more ... but my knees will last longer with less weight stressing them.

But it's been a year now and even though I've lost weight and that is still in the back of my mind, it isn't my main motivator any more. As a type II diabetic I realize that I can still reverse my need for medication if I concentrate on living a healthy lifestyle. Less carbohydrates and fats, and steady exercise will pay off in the end.

Also ... if I can get down just 2 more sizes I will be able to walk into almost any store and buy tall slacks. Right now there aren't many places in Erie that you can find tall slacks over size 16/18 ... and those can even be hard to come by. I've tried some catalogs, but it is difficult to find the style I'm looking for ... I pay dearly to get dress slacks in my tall sizes.

So you see it wasn't really an easy answer ...

I'm also curious to see what others do to keep motivated!

I was curious as to what keeps everyone motivated on this journey.

For myself I find that I am motivated by clothes. I am now able to wear smaller sizes and different styles, that I could not wear before. I am, also, motivated by feeling more confident in myself.
