Congratulations Timsbride!! Long past that stuff, It would be nice to have a daughter in law though. THere is still hope with my boys(25, 24). I have been behaving so far with food, as the scale said this am. I'll post my new weight this weekend.

Hey all! Sorry I have been MIA lately. I found out 2 weeks ago that I am pregnant! So needless to say, I won't be around as much. It's been crazy ever since, but super happy. We told our parents on Christmas and had to keep it a secret until then because they would find out somehow if we didnt!

Tinkky, emoticon WTG on taking off 1/2 pound this week. If you can do it during the holidays, you have great willpower. Keep up the good work. I did not do Christmas Cards this year. I'm feeling a little guilty about it now. There just wasn't the time this year with everything I had to for my mother. I'll probably send a letter out in later December.

I made some more fudge last night. Taking 1/2 day off from work and playing bridge with hubby. Hope everyone takes a little time for themselves today.

cards are done and mailed, package bought and wrapped--except hubby, and baking to be finished tonight or tomorow night!! So far I'm behaving with the cookies, and I lost another 1/2 pound this weekend!!

Good for you ... stating goals is so important. My goal for the holidays is to keep in calorie range as much as possible, do enough exercise to keep me active, and to stay under 250! (I'm back to 249 ... and don't want to go back up again)

I have another party tonight. I've stayed within my calorie range all week and I've only consumed 450 calories today, so I can splurge a little tonight. :)

I think I will put up my small Christmas tree tomorrow. Sunday I have a "Children's Christmas Party" to go to with my granddaughter and great granddaughter who will be 2 on January 6th. It will be alot of fun.

Hubby, Son and I joined my Mom at Niagara Village for their annual Christmas lunch today ... it was great! Retirement communities are a great place to eat ... you don't have to worry about eating too much, their portion size is great ... they cater to the needs of the retirees! Today we had thinly shaven prime rib (2 oz) an ice cream scoop of sweet potato casserole and another of stuffing, 2 huge broccoli spears a nice salad some fruit ... and the deadly dessert! Even the dessert is cut into smaller pieces ie: brownie was 3/4" x 1 1/5" x 1"

It was very well attended ...

Hope everyone else is getting into the holiday spirit!

Great going ... I've actually had a couple of days below my range ... tomorrow I'll have to make sure I get back up to where I should be. I've just been so busy, doing lots of running around, holiday preparations, that I get too busy to think about eating. I suppose I should be happy about that, but I know it isn't good for my diabetes.

It's hard for me to get breakfast in lately ... tomorrow I'll have to make sure I get off to a good start ... seems the days meal plans always flow better when I do!

Definitely not a good weekend for diets. When I got on the scale this morning it read 191, that's 5 lbs up. I might not be able to exercise, but I can certainly control my calories, so today I have logged everything before I have eaten it. "Write It Before You Bite It"

Oh ... the dangers of holiday baking. The eating. I ran out of celery to munch on while baking ... and boy was the banana bread good. Today I will have a better day ... I'm not baking!!!

Yes Elaina ... we will get through these holidays ... I'm taking it one day at a time and trying to eat as much salad as possible!

Glad to hear you are having fun with your nieces ... definitely try to talk them out of the pumpkin roll!!! If not ... have them bake it and take it home with them!

I really had a wonderful day yesterday with my nieces. We had the most fun doing the cutouts. I ate too many cookies, and I'm regretting it a little today. It's done and over, nothing I can do about it today. The plan for today is to make fudge, which I don't like. The girls also want to make pumpkin rolls, which I DO LOVE. I'm going to try to talk them out of that. I may even take them Christmas Shopping. I don't want two bads days in a row.

We will all survive these holidays. I know that some days will be tougher than others, but we will survive.

Gotta get moving, we're going to early service today. The girls thought they wouldn't have to go to Church today because we're baking. LOL

We are having a special Advent program at our church on Sunday at 7 pm put on by the choir ... it's called "Lessons and Carols." We will be reading different lessons ... each followed by an advent carol. It should be quite nice. There will be several sing along hymns also.

Immanuel Lutheran Church ... 1002 Powell Avenue (corner of 10th and Powell)

There are so many programs going on in the churches right now ... you could almost find something to do every night from now until Christmas.

emoticon This Challenge sure is a lot harder than I expected. However I am determined to keep my weight in check for the rest of this month. Having my back out of whack hasn't helped my exercise routines ... even though I've not been able to do many of daily exercises, I've been getting in a lot of stretching and walking (mostly shopping). I try to park as far as possible from the stores ... I even parked far away at my Christmas party for garden club yesterday. It's a good thing too ... we had a sinful dessert! I did manage to eat healthy the rest of the day ... and stayed in range for my calories.

I hope everyone else is doing well ... I hope you are helping each other as much as possible.

It's kinda nice to know that I'm not the only one struggling. Although last week, I did exercise like crazy and really watched what I ate. I am down 5 pounds, but then I decided to get started on my Christmas cookies. Oh, how I love cookie dough.

To try and solve the problem of all the parties this year, I decided that I would host as many as possible. So we'll be having my family over next week, Tim's family over this week, and my work girls over for Christmas sometime after we get out of school. This way, I burn the calories cleaning, and get to pick what's on the menu.

I guess the idea of buddies was so we would keep each other motivated ... not many are keeping in touch on the boards ... I sure hope they are keeping touch in private chat or on their sparkpage.

I had good intentions ... but have been so busy that I've not been good about that either.

We've been going out a little more than normal ... I usually do well, but last night I just couldn't resist the prime rib. I ate a lot of salad ... cut away all excess fat and avoided the au jus ... only ate 1/2 of the potato and drank plenty of water.

In the morning I wasn't quite so good ... we had some sort of breakfast roll (gooey)with brown sugar and cinnamon, cookie brittle and pumpkin whip. I might have over done ... so I ate salad, salad, salad for lunch!!! I put on a lot of steps while decorating around the house ... was non stop all afternoon. I'm hoping that was enough to keep me in check for the day.

We don't have any big dinner parties this year so I figured it was going to be a breeze ... HUH!!!

Thanks Sherry ... those are good ideas. I think I'll be able to manage those. How are you doing on the challenges ... I'm staying in calorie range, but not getting the exercises done. I will catch up ... I think I'll try a few easier things today just to help limber up some.

Lynn when I'm sitting at my desk at work or at home on the computer i march in place which can be done sitting down. It keeps you moving. Also I do waist widdlers "remember doing them in high school standing and only turning from the waist up". Well reverse that when sitting at the computer keep the upper part of your body straight and still and just move your lower body in the chair.

When life hands you trouble slow down and stop to smell the roses. Life is so short, live like today is the last day of your life. Enjoy.

Here's a place you can keep in touch with your buddies if you want ... also if you have any questions this is the place to come.

One note on recording your challenges ... no need to tell how many glasses of water or calories you've had each day ... just 'x' if you had at least 8 glasses, or stayed in your own calorie range. That will help keep your box from growing during the next few weeks.
