Actually, shoveling snow is more than a slight workout! SP has it listed as an option for Cardio! I really work up a sweat when I shovel, but then it usually takes me 30-45 minutes to shovel our property- 2 car drive way & corner lot in town! I always have to remind myself to lift with my legs & switch my grip on the shovel.

And it looks like there's plenty of cardio (required by law) for me to do today! emoticon

Well, I certainly hope that everyone gets to feeling better. I got hit with a soccer ball to the face when I was younger. I still flinch everytime I see one, so I can totally relate.
Joe, it stinks that your knee is messed up but I am wishing the best for you, and as long as you keep on track by doing the exercises that you are still able to do, at least you'll still have a healthy foundation to work with once you can get back to cardio.

Muscle will tend to increase your body weight because muscle is denser than fat. However, don't worry too much about that because lean muscle also metabolizes calories faster than fat. So even though your weight might go up by a pound or so, you're better off in the long run! Remember, the scale is just 1 of many tools to measure loss (even though that's the only one we're using for this challenge)!

And just how did this team get SOO BROKEN?!?! We are just falling apart at the seams! emoticon emoticon At this rate, we'll have to change our name from Chief Joe & the Squaws to The Broken Feathers!!

Thanks for keeping us informed. I surely understand. Been there, done that. Not literally, but similar circumstances.

I went to the Dr. today about my knee. She thinks I have a partially torn meniscus. I'm scheduled for an x-ray and then an MRI and she wants to set me up with some PT. She also put me on an anti-inflamatory. It's a real bummer not to be able to do any cardio.
If I stick with upper body strength training I'm afraid that the muscvle will add some pounds. Is that a wrong conception?

Anyway, sure hope you have a better journey through the rest of the week.

This has already been a tough week for me; and it just seems to be getting tougher... emoticon

As you all have noticed, I haven't posted any daily challenges this week. My mind has just been so scattered that I haven't had enough focus to think any up! I've just been running amuck starting this & that around the house & then not accomplishing ANYTHING!

And to add insult to injury- literally- I caught a soccer ball to the eye last night & now the right side of my face & my right eye are swollen! Not only can I not get my contacts in, but trying to refocus sends shooting pains into my head!

Sorry to ramble on, but this is just how my week is going. I thought I'd let you all know what was going on in my little world...

I better take that weight now!!

Lots of walking today, bending, and bad news at work--the boss laid off my cohort(she only works part time in the mornings), and then the owner came around this afternoon, and told us more layoffs may come if we don't sell any vehicles, but for the time we are all taking a 10% paycut--not good when your husband is on unemployment, and he only worked 6 hours last week:(

I know I can at least do the water thing. This week has been a real "bummer." I've not felt well and I hurt my knee 2 weeks ago in a light aerobics class.
Because of that I've not been able to do do my walking or cardio. Today I feel like a big helium balloon. Ever been there? I should have written earlier for some encouragement, but my procrastination got the best of me. I'm sorry if the "chief" has been a good example for the squaws. But squaws, you're ALL the best!

emoticon It's a good thing I'm not on your team ... I don't even own a work-out video. All those years with bad knees just kept me from even thinking about getting one.

No more excuses now that I have 2 new knees ...
emoticon I guess I'll have to see if I can find one that will help me exercise without getting down on the floor on my knees! Any suggestions out there???

So team for not logging in my weight. I deleted some important software on my home computer trying to get it ready for me to work from home the next 4 - 6 weeks so I had to reinstall the system setup and reconnect to the internet. I am just finally getting everything working.

Weight is still 175.

Way to go, both to Becky and to Joe. That is great news!

I'll be a day behind on the challenges because I don't usually get a chance to get on other than really early in the morning and after midnight, but I'm going to try harder to work on them now.

I'm still sitting at 190 but I am going to change up my work out to keep this from becoming a plateau. I have made to much progress to allow myself to stall out now!

Guys, I don't know how I did it- but my weight today was 175! That's a loss of 3 pounds! I weighed twice- did it once, got off wiggled the scale, got back on, still said 175! emoticon I hope this trend of mine continues next week!

Way to go, Joe! Smaller clothes are always great!!

I'll try to be more diligent with fitness challenges next week. I kinda slacked off towards the end of the week... emoticon

I hope everyone is having a great week! I've been struggling this week to keep moving. I actually just recently did this. The funny thing is that I pulled an unused piece of equipment from my mom's basement, she hadn't used it in years. I'm finding it very useful on the days I can't hit the gym for cardio. I love it!

emoticon Forgotten/Neglected Equipment Day emoticon
We all have it- some piece of exercise equipment that we haven't used in a while. Maybe we stopped because we weren't seeing results; maybe we reached a plateau; maybe we just got bored. Whatever the reason, the challenge today is to pull out that piece of equipment & try it again! Maybe we can all re-discover a fitness oldie but goodie! Good luck!

Tuesday's Fitness Challenge:

emoticon Refrigerator/Cupboard Squats! emoticon

Pick either your snack cupboard or refrigerator & each time you open it during the day, do 10 squats! Make sure you keep proper form- don't let your knees extend past your toes! If this isn't a cure for late night snacking- then I don't know what is!!

Here's Monday's Challenge:

emoticon Bathhroom Break Push-Ups! emoticon

I'm a huge fan of these because you can do wall push-ups without being seen- even in public restrooms- so there's no need to feel silly! Strive for a set of 10 each time you use the bathroom. Bonus if you can do at least 2 sets of 10 regular or modified push-ups sometime during the day!
