It is the last day of February! My goal to for the month didn't work out but I learned some things from that.

I have been continuing to exercise most days but my diet needs a reset. I will begin a new accountability thread for March.

It is so good when we can our DH on board with our health efforts! At times I just asked my husband and kids if we could go without sugar in the house for a few weeks and they have kindly agreed. When I am truly sugar free I can have it around and leave it alone. I am not quite at that spot right now.

I have been exercising and doing better with diet though not as good as I was before I went off my plan last week.

We are on sort of a school vacation so I have not been aiming for much of a morning routine. Some friends are getting together Monday to discuss Sally Clarkson's book 'Own Your Life" so I have been doing that during my QT. The book is an encouragement to live a great life for God but I am finding it discouraging as I see how much I have fallen short. Thank you God for grace!

I was completely off sugar last summer/fall. I lost the momentum with Christmas, and am really struggling to regain it. I know my body would do well without the sugar, but it's hard to keep the house sugar-free!

On a completely different note, I'm trying raspberry tea and increase exercise to try to improve menstrual symptoms. (Maybe that's TMI!!) Any other hints from ladies who struggle with extremely heavy periods would be welcome.

On a different note, I'm really enjoying my running. Monday-Thursday seems to be a sweet spot for a little exercise streak. Weekends continue to be a challenge, both for eating and exercising. I'm having some discussions with my husband about how to change that.

I did pretty badly earlier in the week, and gradually got better near the weekend. I'm finding that when I cut out the sugary stuff, I start craving fatty, salty, cheesy foods instead. My baody wants those calories any way it can get them, lol!

I got through yesterday without chocolate but wasn't completely sugar free. I'll look at it as a transition day.

I haven't done great with my morning routine goal but it has helped me prioritize devotionals and exercise even when I don't get up on time. Today I had to take some kids to an early morning meeting so I did my devotionals at a nearby coffee shop. I am taking the kids iceskating so I will do that for my cardio workout today. It is great for the inner and outer thighs emoticon

I haven't logged in here since Friday! How are you mamas doing?

I have had a struggle with chocolate over the last few days. After 6 month of being sugar free, my husband offered me a square of dark chocolate at night (like the ole apple in Eden) and I figured that perhaps I could have a little in moderation at this point. By Saturday I was eating chocolate everytime I went into the cupboard like pre-sugar-free days. I got into the chocolate yesterday too. I am back to being sugar free. I can't do sugar in moderation!

I have exercised consistently but still have not nailed down my bedtime/morning routine.

I'm seeing a definite trend. . . doing well in the week and doing more poorly on the weekend. I worked really hard to keep my eating sort of regular and healthy yesterday to counter that trend, and it went well for the most part. Better food choices, although maybe too large portion sizes. Had a fabulous time hearing Elijah by Mendelssohn with my husband last night. What a treat! Today the food thing crashed. But tomorrow I'm back on schedule. I'm looking forward to that!

Glad to see all the activity here! Hang in there, gals!

I am feeling better today but skipped my morning routine again. emoticon

I am heading out to grocery shop for the week since we have another bizzard in the forecast for tomorrow. I am determined to exercise when I get back!!

Paliz, I hope you feel better too.

I didn't fit in exercise or devotionals yesterday. My son's team team lost in the last seconds of the basketball game last night so our basketball season is over. Whew!

My 8 year old woke up with a stomach flu last night. My tummy has been flip-flopping since this morning so I did devotionals and didn't exercise when I got up this morning. I am nibbling on some oatmeal to see if that helps.

I had no internet yesterday, so I couldn't track my food. Boy, did my eating habits reflect that! If I'm not looking at the numbers as they add up throughout the day, my awareness of what I'm eating goes way down. Today will be a much better day.

Hope you're feeling better soon, PALIZ!

We are having basketball play-offs for one child this week and we have been getting home and to bed late each night. His team made it into the semi-finals so we have another game tonight. Hence, I didn't get up on thime this morning so I am going to try to fit in exercise and devotionals some place else in my day. It will take some planning. emoticon

Up early and did my devotionals and exercise routine. I modified my exercise schedule to make it a little easier. I think that since I only had 30 minutes I was working out too hard and was on the road to injury. I will see how it goes.

Val, Busyness is such and enemy to health. What is a mom to do?

I am not busy today because we are still in the middle of a blizzard. I think that all this snow has provided me with a better state of mental health than I usually have at this point in my school year. Hmmmm, I will have to think about that.

We had another leisurely morning. I did devotionals late and will exercise in the afternoon again. Honestly I prefer afternoon exercise but it is hard to make it happen when all our outside activities are in full swing.

Yikes! 22 is a lot of inches! It's snowing again here, and I'm hoping my husband doesn't have another 2 hour commute because of slop-slippery roads tomorrow. Hang in there with that blizzard thing, Val!

Yen, I also was shooting for about 2000 when I was nursing full-strength, and that did really well for me. Let me know. I'm now only nursing 2-3 times a day. . . the baby is so big!. . . and so I've trimmed the calories back just a little more, assuming that the extra 500 was for a full-nursing situation.

I did really poorly over the weekend. It's so tempting to cram as much in as possible, taking advantage of the fact I have my husband to help with child watching. It left everyone emotionally caty-wumpus, and me sad and discouraged as a result. I also ate incredibly poorly because I was rushing about so much. Not a pretty picture. Hopefully tomorrow's routine helps!

And whatsoever ye do, do it heartily, as to the Lord, and not unto men; knowing that of the Lord ye shall receive the reward of the inheritance: for ye serve the Lord Christ. Col. 3:23

Yend., Most doctors say that nursing moms need an extra 500 calories. 2000 seems like a good place to start.

I didn't do my morning routine today. We are in the middle of ANOTHER snowstorm and church was canceled so I took the opportunity to have a leisurely morning. I exercised in the afternoon.
Everything is going to be canceled again tomorrow. We might get 22 inches.

Ahh. 29 it is then. Aren't we all so youthful?
emoticon

I've done well with tracking my nutrition this week, and keeping the sweets to a minimum. Yesterday I had to pick up fast food for lunch, and drank half of a soda before I realized, "Hey, there's a lot of sugar in that!" I don't drink soda often, so it never crossed my mind. I left the rest of it.

I'm trying to figure out how many calories I should be consuming. Before I got pregnant my weight would stay stable at around 1600ish calories per day. After I had the baby, I lost most of my baby weight, but my weight has plateaued. Since I'm nursing full time, I'm going to shoot for around 2000 or so, and see what happens. I'm sure that cutting down on the sweets will help. I'm about 7 lbs. from my goal weight that I entered in when I joined Sparkpeople. I'm close, and I hope I can reach it soon!

My body is still very uncomfortable from my exercises earlier in the week so I did a 30 minute stretch routine this morning. I guess I need to put more thought into my workout content. Is my age catching up with me? emoticon

I am doing extra fluids and ibuprofin for the day and will probably do another shorter stretch routine before bed. I have been waking up at night with a charlie horse in my calf. It could be my neglect of stretching in the last few weeks or a little dehydration so I am tackling both of those issues today.

Great job on those goals!

I took a rest day from exercise. I had planned to exercise 7 days a week because I do better with habits when they are daily. My body didn't like that exercise schedule at all! So I am going to take Fridays off and grocery shop in the early morning instead.

Encouraged by your 30-minute a day goal, I tried the same. It's gone we'll this week. I stayed within calorie range and exercised. Also, yesterday was a better day for leaning on God than previous days. That's hard for me to practice!

I know about that sugar thing! If I do a virtually "no processed sugar" diet, my body loves me. I eat a fair amount of fruit. . .it doesn't seem to give me problems.

So glad to hear about your goals and how they're going!

Press for the mark!

I'm trying to count sugar, but there isn't a simple "sugar" option that I can find for the tracker. There is fructose, and all those other "-tose" things that I think are sugars, but I'm not adding each and every one to my tracker. By the end of the day, I'm too tired to do that kind of math, lol!

I guess I'll just focus on using the tracker and trying to keep my sweets to a minimum.

Great job Val and PALIZ! Keep it up!

Yenduchaka, I have always had an issue with sugar! Are you counting carbs or sugar?

I did my morning routine and exercise. I'm a little tired and "out of sorts today". It has been hard getting to sleep on time to get up early. I am hoping to adjust rather than give up. My kids stay up rather late and it can be too noisy for me to sleep.

I'd like to join in. My goal is to use the nutrition tracker every day, and stay within the recommended amount of sugar each day. I have a real problem with my sweet tooth!

Now I just need to figure out how to add that to my nutrition tracker... emoticon

My goal for this month is going to be to get in 150 minutes of cardio a week. Why that goal?
Our local health system is sponsoring a "10 pound throw down" encouraging the community to lose weight and get healthy. One of the things you can track is cardio and that is the recommended time per week. The challenge goes for 10 weeks.

So far this week I have 45 minutes.

Great goals Val!

I did my morning routine. I am already wanting to change the order of things becuase it takes me longer to wake-up and get to exercise than I thought it would.

I am so blessed to have completed my exercise and quiet time in the morning. Once the day gets rolling I often can't get back to it. Today..driving kids to work, art class, piano, writing and pipe organ (really! it was either that or the accordian and at least the pipe organ isn't in my house.). Most of my days aren't like this but this would have been one of those days without exercise if I didn't get up early and do it.

My goals for February are:

1. To track everything I eat and stay within the calorie limits.

2. Ask God for guidance through every day.

I have had long term goals of exercising 30 minutes a day and following a low carb eating plan.I am in a good habit with both of these goals and have been steadily loosing about 2 pounds a month.

My new goal for February is to nail down my morning routine. Morning goals begin at night! I plan to go to be at 10:00. Then rise at 6:15, exercise at 6:30, devotionals and planning at 7:00, wake sleeping children at 7:30 and finish breakfast and getting ready by 8:15. We start school at 8:15.

I did my morning routine for the first time this morning. I pray that it can become a habit. It is 8:12..time to start school.
