I did well with cardio, but not well with nutrition early in the week, and then it flip-flopped. I must not be coordinated enough to do well with both at the same time, hee hee. My weight stayed the same as last week.

Paliz, I hope you had a nice social week, and that you're enjoying your new 12 year old :)

Runningoma, glad to hear you're getting lots of exercise in, as always.

Mary, congrats on you loss this month! You did great! I'm SO thankful to hear that your headaches have lessened some.

This weight is significant for me. See 210 was the weight I was when I joined Sparks. It is also the weight I was when I started my final pregnancy, the weight I was when I ended my 2nd AND 3rd pregnancy. For me, i thought it would be my "highest weight ever". You have been with me as I worked my way back down to it from a much higher weight. The Lord knows how to humble us.

Even though it is difficult to go through this at times I am so happy to have everyone here to be accountable to. I have lost soooo much since these threads have started that I never lost before. Thank you for being here for me.... Especially next month, with the plethora of treats starting to arrive.

Liz, they group up too quickly. I hope you had a wonderful celebration, and even if you did not share your weigh in with us, you still shared it with yourself and realized it wasn't as bad as you had feared.

As this month ends I hope everyone has had a great month. It was full of victories. Although I often forget to mention it, please remember to go out and be a light to the world by being a blessing in someone's life today :-)

Mary,
mom to 4 beautiful children that deserve a healthy and active mother

Well this week is certainly not going to well in terms of diet and exercise so I fully expect to see a gain on the scale tomorrow (or maybe I'll just wait until next week.) Today my oldest turns 12 hard to believ. So I have a lot to do, get his supper in the crock pot, make his cake etc. HOpe everyone has a good day.

Yen, iagree the updated picture is beautiful!

Paliz, you were so close to your goal. I hope that after your social weeks you get to exceed your mileage goals. Thanks for inviting us to the private blog.

RunningOma, I am glad you are getting back to your routine. It sounds through the text that you are more content with your days this way. I hope everyone has reovered well.

Tomorrow we have a repairman coming to my house to essentially look at ever appliance in my kitchen. I am on week 2 of the increased dosage of my medication. My daily headache isn't as intense, which is a nice change.

So last week I was .15 miles short of my 12 miles and this week really isn't looking good for 12 miles. Anyways, I got to get my lesson plans finished plus we have a busy "social" week. So I'll be taking what I can. I wanted to let you all know that on my private blog I'm hosting a giveaway for Family Time Fitness if any one is interested in entering:

I had another very busy week. I took a peek at my calendar today, and saw that I have had some type of commitment every day for over 2 weeks. This is not my normal mode, and I'm not good at it. I like lots of quiet time at home, not rushing to cram in our schoolwork, housework, etc. before having to run out the door. Oh well, the end is in sight- I don't have anywhere I need to be on Wednesday or Friday this week! I might even skip going to church those days just to give us all some time to rest. emoticon I don't know how working mothers do it!

Needless to say, I didn't do well with exercise, and probably didn't do well with my nutrition either. I did track my cardio, but didn't track any food this week. Again, I went up slightly. This coming week will be a good time to buckle down and get back on track.
Sept. 2- 130.6
Sept. 9- 128.8
Sept. 16- 129.0
Sept. 23- 129.6

Liz- It sounds like you've been doing well with your exercise this week. Keep up the good work!

Running- Congrats on your loss! That 9 lbs will be history before you know it.

Mary- Congrats on your loss and on fitting into your new size! That's such an exciting thing! I wouldn't worry about that scale- I'm sure you're right. It just has one of these hiding inside emoticon I'm glad your daughter's b-day was enjoyable, and that you weren't tempted to eat much of her cake. I'll pray for God's will concerning the Mayo clinic. I can understand why your husband might be concerned about these things, but to be honest, he isn't the one suffering from these headaches. If it were me, I would want to find out if any treatment can help soothe the pain, even if it can't be cured. I'm sure you want to submit to his decision though. I imagine it isn't easy for either of you. I'll pray for you both.

Hope you all have a great week!

Not sure what I did wrong this week but my scale demon was spewing nastiness at me all week long. Every morning he tried to discourage me with weights higher than what I started my month with, but I just kept to drinking my water and saying no extra servings of food. There isn't much of a loss, but I can hope I do better next week. Maybe i will reach the 4 lbs in one month I have longed for this month.

That is a LOT of steps! That would be like 10 miles, right?

I am doing so-so. Today I will get some ST in and go running at 5pm with a friend. I usually run in the early morning, but she had to work and wanted to go after work.

Well I think a combination of my cycle and too my C&C (candy and carbonation) this week led to a .6 increase. I haven't been feeling well in the mornings so I'm trying to exercise later in the day. I'm currently at 8.31 miles out of the 12 I want to get in this week. Hopefully I'll get able to get on the treadmill later and get those last few miles.

And I remembered 1 of the other goals I had. I want to reach 20,000 steps in one day on my fitbit. It's not an easy task for me so I'm giving myself until the end of next month to get it done. Have a great weekend ladies.

Got rained out of my run this morning. I still did my ST and a workout DVD. Then my neighbor asked me to walk her dog, so I got another 1/2 hour walking. My DS wants to bike to church tonight. It is only 60 out and looks like more rain, but we will see. I think I am favoring the car...
Didn't do well with food yesterday. My DH asked me out to eat, which doesn't happen that often. I don't mind because I know what I am eating when I am home. Anyway, from last Wednesday to this Wednesday I lost 1.8 pounds. I gained weight while on vacation in the USA - 9 wopping pounds. Some I have already lost. I still have about 4 pounds to get back to where I was...

Hello all, I hope you all are having a great week! So far so good for me. I'm up to 6.9 out of my 12 miles. Eating still is well let's say sloppy. I have 1 child's lesson plans almost done and hopefully will be able to finish that child today. Not much else to report.

emoticon Ok wed check in... I am doing so so... I am waiting too long to eat then when i eat i am eatng too much because i feel starved! In addition to that i haven't been getting enough water i with my medication i think because i have been having horrible cotton mouth. On the plus side of thngs i pulled out of my closet a pair of size 16 jeans to try on yesterday and they fit. So i am going to pull out the rest of the smaller clothes i have folded up in there to see what I have that fits into put in my dresser.

Onto the questions, about Mayo clinic....
I am not sure exactly why hubby is concerned. I know part of it is he distance from the house. I can only assume that he is concerned about how much time off from work he will have to take for me to go for appts there. Then there is the costs associated with traveling for medical care. He and I have already discussed several times tht there are no permanent cures or for of what I have going on in my head so going so far away to not get cured probably seems foolish to him. On top o this there is the matter of the school work for the kids and how it will be handled while i am out of the house, if they will fall behind, etc...

As for my daughter's birthday,
It was a nice celebration. We didn't have anyone over but my mom. I made a cheesecake with neufchatel cheese for the first time. To be honest, i don't like how it tastes at all. In addition to not liking the taste if my mouth is moist when i sit dow to eat it after the first bite all moisture in my mouth disappears, which has never been an issue in previous years. So it makes a wonderful demotivator to consuming a once favorite dessert. I did not set out to make it like that but the store was sold out of cream cheese. She got some dvds, and a no contract cell phone.

Mary,
mom to 4 beautiful children that deserve a healthy and active mother

Mary - how did the birthday turn out?

Yen - thanks for the compliment, that was really sweet of you. Hope you accomplish all your extras this week without too much stress.

Paliz - a loss is a loss. emoticon Good start on the goals.

Val - those are the goals we all need to have probably. For me especially the getting to bed. I have good intentions...but I always tell my DH that good intentions never accomplish much! I need to listen to myself!! I also am behind on the school grading, etc. Getting caught up, but it may take until the end of the week.

OKay, I have goals for this week, lol. I want to finish strong, not just start strong. Here they are:
1. 12 miles
2. lesson plans done for at least 1 child for the next 9 weeks
3. hmm, I had some others in mind and now I forget. Well that's a start.

I hope everyone has a great week.

Hey, folks! I took time off from SparkPeopleing to start up school, and because our computer spent a lot of time off-line because of technical difficulties, which are just getting resolved. The new schedule seems to work for us, but wow, I feel like I'm running a marathon! Y'all are so good to keep rolling on spark through school start up. . . I'm impressed! I'm posting these goals here, but I think I probably won't be able to come back and repost very often. Maybe on holidays? I've been missing you, and I'll keep missing you!

Goals for the (rest of the) month/school year: 1. sleep every night, starting as much before midnight as possible
2. track food and fitness

And whatsoever ye do, do it heartily, as to the Lord, and not unto men; knowing that of the Lord ye shall receive the reward of the inheritance: for ye serve the Lord Christ. Col. 3:23

Neither my exercise nor my nutrition were spectacular this week. I had an extremely busy week, and didn't track much, but I tried to make healthier choices whenever I could. Just little stuff, like going for a walk during my daughter's dance class instead of reading a magazine in the waiting room, choosing the veggie pizza instead of the cheesy nachos at the fair, etc. I was pleased when I stepped on the scale this morning and saw that I had stayed pretty close to my weight from last week. I must be doing better than I think I am.
Sept. 2- 130.6
Sept. 9- 128.8
Sept. 16- 129.0

Next week looks even busier than this past week was. We have 2 homeschool co-ops starting (one is a weekly one that meets for 8 weeks, and the other is a monthly one that meets all year), as well as a thyroid appt. for my middle daughter and a vet appt. for our dog on top of our other regularly scheduled stuff. Looks like I'll be spending a lot of time in the car this week. I'm already looking forward to next weekend :-)

Liz, good job on getting your exercise in and taking your vitamins. You'll get that nutrition up there in no time!

Running, I'm glad your grandblessing and DS are both doing well now. And I do want to say how impressed I am with how quickly you jumped back into SP after your trip. You're awesome!

Mary, I'm happy to hear that the doctor took such a long amount of time listening to you, and is willing to send you to the best place he can think of for help. Are you going to be able to go? I know you said your DH was concerned. Is it a concern about the financial aspect, or how the family will survive with you away, or something else? Whatever the problem is, I hope he has peace about it now, and that you can get some help to go if you need it. On another note- I hope you're enjoying your visit with your mom, and hope your daughter has a happy birthday!

Have a wonderful week everyone! Keep up the great work!!!

Yesterday I got a call from my mom asking my plans for the weekend. She has decided to come up, either tonight around dinner time or tomorrow after lunch in celebration of my oldest child's birthday. Pris will turn 14 on Tues. I have been struggling to decide what to gift to her and one of the things my mom mentioned was that she wanted to ensure I wasn't shorting my oldest on her special day.

The only thing I know for certain is that today I will bake a marble cheesecake, my daughter's favorite kind, so that we can enjoy it for her celebration.

I'm sorry to be MIA. I am slowly, I think, getting caught up with spark, etc. Lots of things going on here this week. I did get my exercise in and logged food. Always a plus. I am going to put my chart here and update it as I am able.

Mary - hope peace comes soon. Planning helps me to eliminate some of the chaos. If I plan I feel more on top of things. I have to admit, I haven't done as well in this area in the last couple weeks.

Paliz - great on the exercise - now for the food. I think that is the harder part.

Here is that chart. Hope you are all having a great weekend.

We were having a rough day yesterday. I don't think I logged into sp at all until after midnight. I have no ide what was going on, but the kids were constantly at each other. From the time they got up, until they went to bed. So intensely, hubby insisted we not go to church so that they would not possibly bicker with children outside our family. They seem to be in better spirits today. I hope it contnues when I take them to hubby's work picnic.

This week started off with a trp to the local neuro. After visiting with him for over an hour, which i am sure being the last appt before lunch he was not anticipating, he decided that my symptoms are not simple enough for him to treat. He has put a referral in for me to go to Mayo Clinic in Jacksonville Fl. This has hubby so stressed out, as hubby thought care in Atlanta would be too difficult to arrange for me. In the mean time we have changed my medication to see if we can reduce my headaches again.

Eating-wise i guess i am doing ok. I am not feeling especially hungry, so I am struggling to figure out what meals I am making for everyone to eat. I need to increase my planned exercise again, and i keep promising myself the first step in that is eliminating the CHAOS in my house. (that alone is exercise!)

Alright Team let's start the week off right!

This morning I got my exercise in and am drinking my shake which together always sets a good tone for the day.

Mary - a loss is a loss. I do hope you get some real help with your health issues soon. Seems like we have to do our own research and tell the doctor what to do sometimes!
My grandblessing is doing much better. He came home from the hospital on Saturday. My DS is also doing well. He is still swollen, but no pain and starting to eat more solid food. Thanks for asking.

Paliz - I did get back to my exercise. Friday I went running, Saturday I went on a hike with my church, Sunday I went walking with a friend, and today I did my running again.

Yen - sometimes when I eat more, my scale goes down too. But after a couple days of that, reality sets in on the scale as well!

Okay, time to hit the shower and get some other things done.

In CHRIST I can!

Sounds like we're all having an "off" start to our month. It will get better.

I'm not exactly sure what happened to me this week. I kept oversleeping and not getting my cardio in, and on Thursday hit a wonderful sale and got a bunch of Chex Mix for free. Guess how my food choices have been since then? I'll give you a hint- I have no willpower. So I'm thinking my scale might be wonky, because it said I lost weight this week. I weighed myself 3 times to be sure, and each time it said the exact same number. Regardless of the number on the scale, I know I need to do better with nutrition and exercise this week.

Sept. 2- 130.6
Sept. 9- 128.8

I'm looking forward to our town's fair this week. It will be a mad scramble to get schoolwork in and still have time to go to it as well as the kids' other activities, but they love going to it. We go as many days as we can each year.

Paliz, i hope everything works out well with your revamp.

RunningOma- i am glad you have returned. I amsorry your grandchild was ill. I pray he recovers swiftly. Has your youngest had any more complications?

As for me, i started this month with my cycle and a migraine. Due to a recall on our van i had to cancel my sept 6 appt. I have an appt on Mon with a neurologist here in town, but I am unsure how productive to expect it to be. It was made thru my primary care and the referring reason was "psudeotumor cereberi" which kind of discounts everything found in my head and says that i have headaches because i am fat.

As far as weight loss, goes

SW 214.4
CW 213.8

Nothing too significant, but a loss is a loss and i am slowly creeping down the scale.

Mary,
mom to 4 beautiful children that deserve a healthy and active mother

Running-nice to see you back. I'm sure by Monday you'll be back into rountine.

Well I hit a road block with my running training schedule this week so I'm thinking I'll repeat last week's schedule next week. My weight is down from last week which puts me where I was 2 weeks ago. We are getting ready to take our first school break since we started in July and I foresee a major revamp coming which I'm feeling led to do but am scared to do.

Anyways, I hope everyone has a great weekend!

Quick check in. I only got a short walk in today. My Grandblessing, age 3 1/2 had surgery last night. He had an appendicitis. Poor thing. He is doing better - out of ICU. My youngest DS had his wisdom teeth removed and had complications. The doctor actually made a house call at 9pm to give him an injection and other meds. He is finally resting and not throwing up! It has been quite a day.
Hope I can get back to my schedule and get my running in again.

In CHRIST I can!

So I missed Wednesday check in and well, today I'm not motivated at all to do anything much less exercise. Well hopefully I'll get some sort of exercise done. Hope everyone is having a good week.

Well September is off to a rocking start thanks to the holiday and a birthday. My goal for this month 12 miles a week and regular strength training. Hopefully also to "clean up" my eating.

I'm sitting in the Atlanta airport right now waiting for my flight back home. I am not looking forward to stepping on the scale after this trip. Too much eating and not enough exercise. So I will start out this month with the challenge of taking off this vacation weight and starting school. My oldest homeschooler already has nearly a quarter behind her, and my youngest will barely get started and then have his wisdom teeth out, so our school year will be off to a bumpy start as well.

We just finished our 2nd week of school, and I feel like I'm barely hanging on :-) I think I'm going to keep my goal for this month very simple- don't gain. I'll check in each Sunday, which is my weigh-in day.

Welcome to the Jungle!

If you haven't started school before this month, chances are you will this month. If you have started school chances are this is one of your first long weekends. No matter what this is a a time of struggles are you strive to maintain that balance you developed over the summer for exercising and eating well. Now its the start of the month so let's Set some goals, create some camaraderie, and hold each other accountable for whats going on as we travel through the struggles ahead.

This month I start the month off with my cycle (hear my sarcastic YAY) and a beginning weight of 214.4. This weight is a 4 lbs loss from last month and I am hoping for a similar loss by the end of this month.
