I know, Mary, how dare I do such a thing?! emoticon

So here is my Sunday check-in (better late than never):
goal 1 (lose 3-4 lbs.): 7-8-12: went up slightly (+.2 lbs.)
7-15-12: went up 1 lb.
7-22-12: went down 1.4 lbs.
7-29-12: went up 1 lb.

goal 2 (prayer): 7-8-12: did well most of the week until my bil's accident
7-15-12: didn't do great this week
7-22-12: did well with morning and evening prayer, but not afternoon. I think I'll nix the scheduled afternoon prayer time until we start school and my days are a little more structured. For now, if I get it in, wonderful, but if not, I won't stress about it.
7-29-12: did great with morning and evening prayer this week.

goal 3 (exercise): 7-8-12: did well until until my bil's accident
7-15-12: only did cardio 3-4 days this week
7-22-12: did well with cardio, plus had a lot of extra work around the house preparing for my daughter's b-day party
7-29-12: did great with my cardio this week!

I didn't do so well with my eating this week- a few days I was well below my calories, so I snacked on some junk but didn't track it. I assumed that since I was being such a good girl with my cardio that it was ok. Apparently it wasn't since I'm up a pound this week. But oh well. It's never too late to start over :-)

Mary, how was the convention? Hope you had a great time and have returned with renewed enthusiasm. You did a great job meeting your goals last week, btw!

Runningoma, so glad you're back safe and sound! How is your hubby doing now? Has he reovered from his injuries? Congrats on doing so well with your eating and exercise! I knew you would do a wonderful job- you're amazing!

Liz, great job on your exercise last week! 10 miles is a lot! Is school going well this week?

I'm still here- my mother in law is visiting right now, so I didn't do my check-in yesterday. I'll get to that tomorrow after she's gone. I didn't want you all to wonder why I'm not speaking to you, lol.

I am not going to go back and post the days on vacation. I tracked most of the time and stayed in range and got my exercise in. I figured I would pick up from here.

Home from vacation, but we brought another family home with us, which meant changing bedding, etc. They were only here overnight. We enjoyed the short time we had with them. They live in Moscow, so it saved them having to stay in a hotel.
I did well on vacation - best I have ever done. Exercised all but Monday, since we were travelling. Even got two different women to go with me. DH ran with me on Tuesday, but must have tore a muscle in his calf. Then Wednesday he played soccer and hurt his foot! So he was limping around all week!
I need to get out and at least get a short walk in. Maybe it will clear my head from the fog of lack of sleep.
I'll get back to posting my stats here in the next couple days.

In CHRIST I can!

Well I'm up almost a pound this week but given where I am in my cycle, it doesn't surprise me. I'm very happy with my exercise this week logging in over 10 miles on my treadmill alone but I know my eating was bad. Today was the last day of tennis for the kids and I can not wait to get into school routine next week. So that's a brief up date on me. I hope everyone is doing well.

Hi girls! So far, so good this week. I've been doing well with my prayer, and great with my cardio. My food choices haven't been the best (too much leftover birthday party junk food laying around the house calling my name, lol), but I haven't gone ridiculously over my allotted fat/calories so far. Tomorrow I'm going to an amusement park with my family, so I'll be getting a lot more walking in than I normally do.

Mary, looks like you're on a roll this week. Keep up the great work!

Val, glad you're back safe and sound. How is your week going? I'm sure you're still recovering from your trip.

Oma, hope you're enjoying your vacation!

Hey, folks! I'm glad to be home in one piece! I ate some pretty sweet stuff while I was away. To compensate, I ate fewer meals (that wasn't intentional. . .the family reunion planners just planned it that way).

I went shopping today and restocked the fridge with nice fresh things. I think my meeting my goals this month/week will depend on the amount of sleep I'm able to get this week. I'm exhausted, and therefore unmotivated. I saw 145 on my scale once this month, and my goal was to be at or under. I think I can still do that. My weight is up (148 this morning), but I'm pretty sure that when I cut out all the sugar again, it will float down pretty rapidly back to where I was when I left (around 146).

Paliz, I'm definitely a sugar addict! It is hard, when I have sugar, for about 3-4 days when I get back off of sugar. And white processed things or too many carbs tend to trigger the same cravings as pure sugar. I hope you find a good solution for yourself! I know every person has to find a combo that both works and is maintainable.

Mary, I'm impressed by all you've gotten done since I've been away! Well done!

Yen, go for the dress!!

And whatsoever ye do, do it heartily, as to the Lord, and not unto men; knowing that of the Lord ye shall receive the reward of the inheritance: for ye serve the Lord Christ. Col. 3:23

Mary, I have to agree with you about the sugar. It may or may not be an actual addiction (probably depends on the person), and it is much more difficult to give up because it's hidden in so many different foods. I'm also very wary of the artificial sweeteners. I've been slowly trying to do more whole foods for that reason. I absolutely can't afford to buy all organic/whole foods, so took a look at what our family eats the most of. I started with bread. I now make our own bread (100% whole wheat, and honey is used instead of sugar to activate the yeast). Next I moved on to buying raw milk from a friend when her cow is producing an abundance. Then it was buying the freshly ground peanut butter instead of the stuff on the shelf at the store. The latest is buying raw sugar. All of this has been a very slow process (more than a year), and I've stopped buying other foods that I've learned aren't great for you to help to afford the healthier stuff.

I try to be very frugal (I feel like that's one of my contributions to our income- to spend our money wisely), so it's sometimes painful for me to spend $3.90 on a pound of good pb when I know I could be spending $2.40. Or the same price for 1 lb of raw sugar that I paid for 4 lbs of white sugar. Some weeks I just don't have the extra money for the healthier things, so I do buy the junkier foods, but I figure every little bit counts. We're all doing our best here to live healthier.

I agree that if we're eating more freggies, we won't have so much room (or desire) for the processed stuff. I need to work on that too!

I did a lot better this week!

goal 1 (lose 3-4 lbs.): 7-8-12: went up slightly (+.2 lbs.)
7-15-12: went up 1 lb.
7-22-12: went down 1.4 lbs.

goal 2 (prayer): 7-8-12: did well most of the week until my bil's accident
7-15-12: didn't do great this week
7-22-12: did well with morning and evening prayer, but not afternoon. I think I'll nix the scheduled afternoon prayer time until we start school and my days are a little more structured. For now, if I get it in, wonderful, but if not, I won't stress about it.

goal 3 (exercise): 7-8-12: did well until until my bil's accident
7-15-12: only did cardio 3-4 days this week
7-22-12: did well with cardio, plus had a lot of extra work around the house preparing for my daughter's b-day party

I'm very pleased that I've stuck with my program this week. I recently realized that if I keep at it, I might fit into a certain dress (one I got at the thrift store, fell in love with, but haven't worn yet) by my anniversary at the end of August. It will be our 15th, so it's a bigger deal, and we might do something fancy enough for me to wear a nice dress :-)

RunningOma have a great time while you are awa.

Ok about the sugar addiction. I think many of us stuggle with cutting refined sugar from our diet. It is NOT like giving up something like smoking, imo. When you smoke you know everytime you are lighting up. Sugar on the other hand is put in many foods that we would not expect to find it. Sometimes it is needed, like to cut some of the acidic taste in a tomato sauce, but not to the extent that is used by society today.

Now this being said I am not an advocate of sugar replacements. I mean, honey, molasses, agave, maple syrup/ other syrups I can understand those natural replacements. I haven't been able to get behind "natural zero calorie sweeteners" such as stevia which have to be bound to other substances and are often left tasting like sweet n low. I avoid the artificial sugars and splenda. I also try to avoid things like HFCS.

I think that is part of why my focus is on getting consistent in getting my freggies in. Once I get to the point I am not consuming much in the way of processed foods and am then avoiding some hidden sources of sugar :-)

This week's goals were
Food: Freggies, freggies, freggies
Household goal: get the living rooms, kitchen and my room in order, mow yard
Medical goal: Fax of medical release forms
Exercise goal: walk the neighborhood 2x during the week

This month's goal to lose 4 lbs
Sw: 222.6
Cw: 219.8
Down 2.8 lbs

As of Friday:
Food (for the week): broccoli(1serv), corn(1serv), rainier cherries (2 serv), strawberries (2 serv), mixed veggies (2 serv), banana (3 serv), mixed frozen fruit (1 serv), v8 Fruit fusion (.5 serv) , broccoli normandi ( 1 serv), premixed stew vegetables (1 serv), bag salad mix (2 sev)
....thats only 16.5 servs that I am counting? So there is still room for improvement on that front in my diet. Because I should be closer to double that right?
Household: my bedroom DONE! , living room- improved, kitchen- improved, yard-half, I still need to mow the back, but need more gas. I did not do everything I wanted in the living room and kitchen, but instead worked upstairs in the kids bedrooms.

Have been really busy and haven't done well with logging. I have good intentions, and write down what I eat, but at the end of the day I am too tired to care to put it in the computer. I have gotten a lot of other things done around the house and ready for vacation - which is good.

I am going to skip my chart until I get home from vacation, since I know that I won't have time for it or internet. I'll check in when I can.

I can relate to your difficulty with the sugar addiction. I haven't been brave enough to try breaking it yet. I'm sure that any steps you take are helping, even if you're not measuring up to your expectations.

Hope your dh is better soon!

Sorry I had to do a fly by night post yesterday but dh was home sick and I don't like to do much "typing" on my kindle.

Anyways, this week is another iffy week. Exercise is going well but food choices are lest than ideal. I just can't seem to break my sugar adiction. I'm really enjoying the free program I have found but I think it's going to take me longer than it says it should to get out of the prep program. Got a busy day today and it leaves me wondering about supper. emoticon

Hi girls! I'm doing so much better than I was. Thank you all for the encouragement. God has truly gifted me with all of you.

So far this week I've tracked all of my food, even the stuff I just have to take my best guess at. I ate out for lunch yesterday and today, and still did a pretty good job staying within my ranges. I've been making sure to get my cardio in each morning, even when I have to pause my DVD to take the dogs out. I'm sure an interrupted workout is better than none. I've been doing well getting my morning and evening prayer time in, but haven't been doing well with the afternoon. My days are not scheduled right now, and I have to much running around. During the school year I know this will be much better.

From your posts, it sounds like you're all doing well too. Keep up the great work!!!

This week's goals:
Food: Freggies, freggies, freggies
Household goal: get the living rooms, kitchen and my room in order, mow yard
Medical goal: Fax of medical release forms
Exercise goal: walk the neighborhood 2x during the week

As of Tuesday:
Food (for the week): broccoli(1serv), corn(1serv), rainier cherries (2 serv), strawberries (1serv), mixed veggies (1 serv), banana (1serv), mixed frozen fruit (1 serv), v8 Fruit fusion (.5 serv)
Household: my bedroom DONE! , living room- improved, kitchen- improved, yard-not yet
Medical: DONE!
Exercise: half way to this week's goal. Rain last night.
Additionals: computer packed up and shipped off.

I have now idea what hubby's issue is but last night he decided to be up until 3 am... And to keep me up with him. He had stuff on his mind and did not appreciate my repeating the response of "relax and put it in God's hands". Finally, I asked if he could just lay down and pray with me about his issues so I could get some sleep. He luckily could call out from work this morning.

Liz, I hope you found what you needed to round out your day yesterday.
Yendu, how are you doing? Is everything going smoothly?
RunningOma, thank you for your consistent encouragement.
Did I miss anyone?

Morning Ladies,
Yesterday I had a great day activity wise. The kids and I did some geocaching for the summer library reading program and that alone logged in about 3.5 miles. Food wise wasn't bad. Today, well I'm not sure. I didn't feel like getting on the treadmill so I tried a jump rope rountine i found on youtube. Well I only made it half way through that so why I feel like I exercise I'm thinking i need to do more. Right now though I need to focus and make a plan for today.

Yen - don't get discouraged. Just take account and get back to what you know you need to do. We all have those challenges - and I had a day or two of that this past week as well. We went out, and I should have just asked for a to-go box before I started. I didn't feel stuffed, but it would have been better to eat just a bit under my limit so I didn't overdo later in the day. I also don't know how to count it, and in fact, I didn't finish tracking for the day as we had company until early evening. But, we move on, right? Right! Next week will be quite a challenge as we are going to our mission's retreat. It will be hard to count calories accurately. I am going to be making some requests of the cooks though - no dressing on the salad, meat without gravy, etc.

Everyone else - let's just keep plugging away - one choice at a time!

Exercise: walked neighborhood with Junior once

Today gets an extra goal of packaging up hubbys computer, which i refer to as brutus because it weighs 50 lbs, because it is overheating. The liquid cooling system has malfunctioned, which wouldn't be an issue if the CPU wasn't over heating, so i have to prepare it to travel back to california. Hubby is not happy that we need to do this but is grateful it happened while the computer is under warranty. Anyways that gets to become a priority because I was using that computer as my dr communication device.

I really don't want to check in today, because I'm pretty ashamed about my progress (or more correctly, lack of progress) this week. I did horribly. We did a lot of eating out at picnics, parties, etc., and I wasn't sure how to track all the food that I don't prepare myself. So I'd just skip tracking for that day. I think I only tracked 2 days this week, and when I'm not tracking, I don't think as carefully about what I'm eating. I didn't do well with my prayer and exercise either. No particular reason, just lots of little things cropping up each day. I think I'll try doing an official check-in mid-week as well. I feel that every Sunday I get some good oomph going to recommit, but by the end of the week I've lost it. So here's my check-in:

goal 1 (lose 3-4 lbs.): 7-8-12: went up slightly (+.2 lbs.)
7-15-12: went up 1 lb.

goal 2 (prayer): 7-8-12: did well most of the week until my bil's accident
7-15-12: didn't do great this week

goal 3 (exercise): 7-8-12: did well until until my bil's accident
7-15-12: only did cardio 3-4 days this week

I'm pretty mad at myself right now, but hopefully checking in with results during the week will help. emoticon

Hello friends! I am glad to see all of you encouraging one another and to see the fit_4_family has joined us! Make sure to stop by her page to leave her a word o encouragement so she doesn't drop off during her personal challenge.

We will start with the positives....
It only takes 3 hours to drive to visit FIL now versus 15.
His house no longer smells like dog or has bugs all over in it .(this makes it easier for me to stay there visit)
Lee's cousin and her children moved closer and can now play with my children.
We had a blisteringly great time at the beach on wed..... I just wish i had worn sunscreen like everyone else.
FIL looks good physically
FIL can walk/shuffle and only sometimes needs the help of a walker

Neutral....
The kids started calling aunt and uncle "grandmom" and "grandpop" during this visit.
Everyone finally agreed that we should empty FIL's possessions out of his house.
FIL's vehicles will most likely get sold and the house rented out until the market recovers enough to sell it as well.

The bad....
FIL needs to be in a dementia unit of a care facility.
FIL lives on a world of delusions and conspiracies.
his memory frequent fails him (he couldn't recall hubby's name at all and introduced me as pat to a nurse..... The kids were grandaughters 1,2,3 and grandson. He knew the relationship, but not their names)
We are going to have to start going down on weekends to empty out the house to find the things we want to keep from there and even tho it it is closer, it still is expensive for us because we eat out so much...this might be changed now that the house isn't filled with dog odor and bugs( i know you all know how hard it is to cook and live in that type of environment)

Food wise we ate frequently with lee's uncle, but because there were 11 of us in the house. So we had easily eat by hand foods fried chicken and some yummy oven baked fries and broccoli, hot dogs and chips.... Last night we had take out italian, then drove home.

The kids are just now climbing out of bed. Hubby is still in ours. I have to figure out how we are going to move things. Maybe we will order a pods thing or something. Because i really don't drive much any more and i don't want to drag a car down there to load up a uhaul, only to force me to drive our car backso hubby can drive the uhaul....but now i am getting ahead of myself...

Praise the Lord for the miracles he has put in our lives in regards to FIL.

Mary,
mom to 4 beautiful children that deserve a healthy and active mother

Hey, folks! Glad to see you back, Mary. Gang's not the same without you!

Paliz, congrats on the two accomplishments. . .the loss and the new running speed!

RunningOma, technology certainly has its ups and downs. And takes up a LOT of time!

Yen, glad to see you finished the book!

Welcome, Jacquie!

Mary, welcome back. Can;t wait to hear about things.

Running, I would be very frustrated too. With the exception of yesterday's freggies it looks like you are doing really well.

I'm quite happy with the scale this morning especially since i know I didn't make the best food choices this week. I'm down 1.8 pounds. I was also able to increase my speed on the treadmill this week which was a nice accomplishment. Gotta run, need to make my shake and get the kids to tennis.

Yen - you might not think that you could run - but I didn't think I could either. If you are interested check out the C25K plan. (Couch to 5 Kilometers)

Paliz - sounds like you are getting your exercise in! emoticon

Val - maintainance is good. BTW - my weight fluctuates a lot - so I don't worry just about what the scale says. Like you said, you feel skinny - so that is also a good sign.

Mary - nice that you are back.

I haven't checked in for a couple days. Been so busy and am still busy. Frustrating this morning as I tried to order around 200 pictures on line today and the computer froze up - TWICE! And that is after (naturally) I had them all uploaded - TWICE! I sort of gave up for now. Going to try to get caught up on here and then head over to the gym. Then I will try it again, maybe after DH gets home so I can have someone to share the frustration with! lol

Hi, folks! I'm up a pound this week. I'm fine about that. . . I feel skinny, I'm under 150 still, and at some level I'm a little too tired to care. Husband had a hard work week, and so we did more support of him this week, and less of other stuff. That's what families are for. Travel coming up, and a houseguest leading up to that, so I'm already gearing down for "maintain mode" until I get back.

Wednesday check in emoticon

So yesterday wasn't as bad as I thought it would be but i made sure to walk during my supper break at work. And I certainly didn't get enough water in.

Today I did my 20 minute walk, 7wr prep week 1 day 2, 10 minute solution kickboxing basics. I'm trying to start my day off right with my shake.

Hi girls! I don't have anything new to report. Well, I sort of do- I finished my book. (Though I'd like to reread the final couple of chapters. I was getting tired while I was reading, and just got the gist of what it was saying, not a thorough picture.) Anyway, after that, I'm ready to start finalizing and tweaking my plan for peace and orderliness in my home. Of course, that's so much easier to attain in the summer when we're not quite so busy with school work :-)

Mary, how has your head been feeling?

Val, congrats on your run! I read on your blog that you ran for 58 minutes?! I'd die if I tried something like that. I'm very much in awe of you and RunningOma. You girls rock!

Jacquie, welcome to our challenge! I must be new since you were on SP before. It's nice to meet you!

Paliz- don't worry about your food/water. You got some exercise in, and that's something you can feel good about. You can add in the other aspects of a healthy lifestyle as you feel up to it. We all go through slumps. Don't let it get you down. You'll be back on track before you know it!

Hi ladies! Been a LONG time since I've been on sp. Just got my home internet back. I weighed myself this AM and am SO mad at myself! I haven't been tracking or even watching what I eat. I've gained 10lbs. ugh. Anyway, here's my goal. We go to the beach august 11! that gives me almost 5 weeks to ose 10lbs. So, 2lbs a week goal. Track ALL food at least 6 days a week and get some REAL exercise at least 3x a week.

Starting weight 7/10 : 153.2

Thanks, Yen and Paliz, for all the snack ideas! It's good to have fresh ones now and then.

I did my first "advanced" endurance run today. Well, I sort of did it. I took three 30-second pauses to do some recording, so I wasn't technically running the whole time. I felt better toward the end than I thought I would, and I was able to maintain good form for a good 2/3 of the time. Is it awful if you just "slog through" then end of a run willy-nilly, without thinking so much about form? Hmmm. Probably not the best.

Ate like a pig at supper. . .have to go log those calories to see if I have any left over for a snack!

Glad to see you all being conscientious about wanting to eat well and exercise! Happy Monday night!

So, I'm not the best at posting on the weekend. I am very much a M-F gal, lol
So far this morning I have done a 20 minute walk, 10 min solution kickboxing, and 7wr prep day 1 (I'm restarting for various reasons). Today promises to be busy so I need to make sure to have my water with me so I drink enough.

Mary, I don't count beans (like pinto, kidney, etc) as a veggie. Way back when I was on WW they counted beans either as a protein or a bread - you got to choose. Peas, potatoes, and other starchy veggies counted as breads as well. So, I have basically stuck to that rule of thumb when counting my food in catagories.

One other idea for the snack thing eat some nuts with the fruit.

This weekend was okay. I had been having a craving all week and gave in yesterday which became a slippery slope I fell down. I plan on hiking back up the slope tomorrow to start the week off strong.

Thanks for the snack ideas. I seem to get bogged down with the same old things. Of course some of the items you have there, I don't have here. But, I still have a spring board. I would like to make a list and print it out and hang it up, with calorie count, in my kitchen. That way I will begin to know what it is that I could eat that is a healthy alternative to whatever my mind might be saying.
I am doing great on exercise - which isn't my problem. The eating is. This week I am hoping to pre-log my food and then stick to what is on it.

and now for my weekly check-in:

goal 1 (lose 3-4 lbs.): went up slightly (+.2 lbs.)

goal 2 (prayer): I continued reading A Mother's Rule of Life and followed my prayer schedule for a lot of the week, but since my brother-in-laws accident on Thursday, my time hasn't really been my own. My MIL was here, and seemed to need to talk almost constantly. They're both doing well now, thank the Lord :-) So needless to say, I was doing a lot of praying, just not in the neat little time frames I had constructed for myself :-)

goal 3 (exercise): Again here, I did well until the end of the week.

Overall I'm pretty happy with my progress this week. It isn't perfect, and I'm sure I could have done better, but I'm glad I have some motivation back and am doing as well as I am at reaching these goals.

more yummy snacks...
- cottage cheese with pineapple chunks
- graham crackers dipped in apple juice
- tuna mixed with sliced grapes and a little red wine vinegar (you can spread on crackers or use as a dip)
- scrambled egg wrapped in your favorite large leafy green like a burrito
- a tortilla folded in half with a couple tablespoons of shredded cheese cooked in a skillet with just a smidge of butter to melt the cheese inside and give it just a bit of crispiness on the edges

Oh, yes! Apple and peanut butter is a winning combo. . .in fact, I think I'll go have some! I have to be careful with the whole nuts. They're so good it's hard to stop eating them. But I've never tried laughing cow cheese wedges. Is it soft cheese? I'll look them up next time I shop.

Oh, Yen, I know that feeling! After chasing my 5 children, details are not what I'm good at more of. (As you can tell from that syntactically lacking sentence).

Mary, thanks so much for the pedicure! Wouldn't it have been fun to get them done for real all together as a group!

Are you hanging in there, Paliz?

Running Oma, my snack idea is to hit protein and carbs everytime. . .here are some of my favorites. I'm sure you're already familiar with most of these.

handful of carrots with hummus
cheese stick wrapped in a piece of bread (think Heidi)
hardboiled egg and piece of fruit
slice of meat with a pickle
small bowl of cereal with a half of a banana
a little plain, non-fat yogurt with some really sweet fruit on top
crackers with peanut butter or butter (always the butter if I'm alone. . .my husband is a PB fan)
some celery with PB or some cream cheese on top
a small tortilla with something inside. . .butter, beans, pb and fruit, cheese, etc.
an 1-egg, 1-slice-bread egg sandwich

Does anyone else have any great snack ideas in the 100-250 calorie range that I'm missing? I'm always looking for new ideas.

Hi ladies! I'm sorry I haven't been checking in as often as you all have been. I have been reading everyone's posts though. To be honest, I'm already having trouble keeping track of who has what goals, but I'm doing my best to keep up. It looks like you're all doing well though- keep up all the great work!

I'll check in tomorrow after my weigh-in with how I've done with my goals for the first week.

Sw 222.6 CW 223.2 My weight loss goal for the month is 4 lbs
My food goal for this week is to track my freggie and water consumption (trying to get in the tracking habit again) ~ Well i did better at tracking my freggie consumption, but i am not sure it was enough... Or rather i am certain I am not eating enough fruits and veggies every day. On the plus side, at least i know I am not eating little debbies every day either ;-) i seem to have dropped off at some point in tracking my water. In all honesty that was because i found myself confusing myself as to how many refills I had made on my cup. Rather than over estimate I simply skipped reporting. I do use a 32 oz cup so it is not hard to get my water in daily. But many times my brain just isnt working accurately and i need to find a way to keep up with my refills on the cup. Maybe i can find some colorful rubber bands or something.

O yesterday i didnt have fruits or veggies with lunch ( it was just a hot dog in a bun) and dinner had a large baked potato. I had served myself some collards, but was too full from the potato to get to them.

emoticon My health goal for the week is to finish the neuro paperwork and email the package back to them so I can hopefully get an appt soon.

This week:
We will be out of town for at least half the week checking in with FIL. Most of our food choices will be fast food, hopefully we will have a chance to eat with Uncle at his house for dinner some, but he may be busy with his kids. I am inclined to stress eat during times like this, because i don't know what to do for FIL, but we feel bad leaving him in a nursing home so far away. Last time I was there we only had internet at fast food joints. I will check in as I can.

Goals: this week
To make the best food choices I can
To avoid stress eating
To send off medical release forms

month goal: to lose 4 lbs

What are your goals?

Mary,
mom to 4 beautiful children that deserve a healthy and active mother

One of my weight loss/lifestyle challenges is that I rarely feel hungry in my stomach. I almost always lose the ability to think first when I'm hungry. I get cranky around the same time that this happens. So it's imperative for me to eat at regular intervals. Part of my success with SparkPeople has been finding snacks that are the right size. . .it's hard for me to snack small, and especially when I've waited too long before snacking. So that's why I highly recommend snacking! But that's just what I've learned about my own body. . .and doesn't necessarily apply to everyone's bodies.

I'm glad to see you all persevering. Keep up the good work!

Yesterday I ate:

Breakfast banana, 1 cup frozen mixed fruit and 2 cups water
Lunch was Ropa Vieja (see http://www.recipetips.com/recipe-cards/t--
2485/ropa-vieja-shredded-swiss-steak.asp ), along with Guac in a sandwich
Dinner was Lasagna
I have no idea how this translates to servings of freggies

my activity was mowing the yard.
I managed to get the paper work all finished up for the nuero Today I am emailing it off to him (right after I finish this posting).

This morning I had a smoothie made with 1 cup mixed fruit and 1 cup chunks of canataloupe. It was followed with pulling crab grass from my yard.

As for the snacking. guess I should state that every person is going to do what woks best for their bodies. I have plenty of friends who can graze their way through the day and stay thin, and plenty of friends that eat at a rigid schedule in order to maintain their weights. it is just what works best for them.

I am not going to feed my body when I am not hungry because I don't feel it does me any benefit. I have had drs telling me that a good portion of my neurological problems are based on my weight and my overindulgence in foods... Even though I can not find one bit of scientific studies that support this claim, because I have looked. I am just doing my best to not build a habit of mindless eating (not that anyone here is mindlessly eating, but for me to eat when I don't feel hungry would contribute to me doing so)

Anyways.. I am off to email off those papers. I need to accomplish this goal for the week.

I think it is important to snack - on the right things, so that our metabolism stays higher. Obviously, we all have to do what works for us. My ??? yesterday are because I didn't finish tracking, and I failed to write things down like I should, and I am certain I am way over my calories too. But I am moving on.

Date - - - - Calories burned - - - Calories ate - - Water - - - - -F/V - - - Weight
7.01 - - - - - - rest day - - - - - - - - - - 1808 - - - - - - 08 - - - - - - 5 - - - -
7.02 - - - - - - - 847 - - - - - - - - - - - - 1387 - - - - - - 12 - - - - - - 2 - - - -
7.03 - - - - - - - 526 - - - - - - - - - - - - 1592 - - - - - - 10 - - - - - - 5
7.04 - - - - - - - 158 - - - - - - - - - - - - ??? - - - - - - 09 - - - - - -7
7.05 - - - - - - -

My goal is to log my food, to burn 500 calories a day 6 days a week, and to lose 5 pounds as well as to keep drinking my water (2 liters a must - but aiming for 3) and to eat 5 portions of fruits and veggies a day. I weigh every day, but record it every 10 days. First weigh in is on the 5th.

I don't snack often. I often will forget to eat until the kids remind me to feed them. I don't believe in eating if I am not hungry. The days i have a snack are rare. The kids are really good about snacking on fruits and veggies while I forgot to feed them.

Good morning! I'm checking in today to report that I'm down a half pound this week. Not huge progress, but something. My running is going well. I squeezed it in yesterday, despite all the added festivities.

Mary, salsa and guac HAVE to count! They must!
Do you snack on fruit? And do you like baby carrots?

And whatsoever ye do, do it heartily, as to the Lord, and not unto men; knowing that of the Lord ye shall receive the reward of the inheritance: for ye serve the Lord Christ. Col. 3:23

July 3rd:
Breakfast - skipped
Lunch - no fruits or veggies either
Dinner - mashed potatoes, summer squash
Snack - guacamole

July 4th
Beakfast- none
Lunch- none
Cook out.... Does 7 layer dip count? It has salsa and guac in it.... I skipped the typical picnic salads
Church picnic .... I had one of my yogurt parfaits

Please. Note this is not my full food consumption. Just my fruits and veggie report. I am discounting poor choice options such as tatertots or french fries to not being an actual veggie consumed, but if a meal is not consumed at all i mark it skipped. Just because something is marked none does not mean i ate tater tots or french fries either... As you can see i am having issues consuming adequate freggies this week. I am hoping to do better today.

Crazy? There is no crazy... We're looking for accountability.. I was sitting here last night trying to find the best way to state how I was coming along with my goals for the month and i just felt that stating ut that way was the best most honest way to accomplish it.

On today's agenda is making and freezing the yogurt parfaits for tomorrows church picnic. I figure if i freeze them today i can pull them into the fridge tomorrow afternoon them they will stay for the duration of the picnic. I had such a dufficult time choosing a dish to bring. So many were talking of bringing traditional picnic items, potato/macaroni salads, cookies, cakes... I wanted to bring a nice alternative. Do you think yogurt parfaits is a good enough choice?

Running Oma, good job on the water and food!

Paliz, keep up the good work! 15 flights of stairs sounds like a lot.

Well, off to feed the mnchkins and shower before loading up parfaits for the day. Have a great day, make good choices.

Oh good no one will think I'm crazy posting what I do everyday, lol.

Yesterday:
7WR: prep day 1
Stairs: 15 flights
Water: 13 cups

So that's how hopefully my daily posting will look (I find I like being able to record what I do each day). The 7WR stands for 7 weeks to Ripped which is really only 3x a week so on off days I'll just put "off" and then below put what other exercise I did.

I like this. emoticon

Breakfast: banana, 1 cup frozen mixed fruit, 2 cups water ( my smoothie)
Lunch:
Dinner: small sweet potato, 1 cup broccoli nomandi, 2 cups water

I think i missed lunch... I meant to eat it... But i think i got so caught up trying to fight with my kids on what they would eat that I skipped feeding myself. But i am getting freggies in even just wit these two meals.

I did have a "real fruit slush" from sonic when I left walmart earlier. Maybe I can count that as my lunch and as a fruit? ;-)

In addition to this I spent my morning sawing and moving the downed pecan tree branch from the storm that blew through last night. I do not own a chain saw, so it was all hand sawing and dragging. Hubby was so happy to come home and not have to cut and move tree parts. While i was cutting that I drank several cups of water...

Hello, folks! My goal this month is to see 145 by the end of the month, and at least hold it there, if not pass it up. I am going to be changing my small goals for the month as I go, as I see my trouble spots. My top goal this week is to get more sleep than I did last week, as it's the goal I'm doing the poorest on now. I'm excited to see how you all do, and to be able to be on a journey that others are also undertaking!

And whatsoever ye do, do it heartily, as to the Lord, and not unto men; knowing that of the Lord ye shall receive the reward of the inheritance: for ye serve the Lord Christ. Col. 3:23

Hi ladies!

My goals for this month will be:
1. lose 3-4 lbs.
2. finish reading A Mother's Rule of Life and implement a regular schedule to keep me more centered on prayer
3. find a way to get back into regular exercise (my previous early morning exercise time has been replaced with early morning puppy care, hee hee)

My weigh-in day will continue to be Sunday. I'll at least check in then, but will try to do so during the week as well.

My goals for this month are:
1. Walk the dog at least one mile every day
2. Drink 12 glasses of water daily.
3. Eat one serving of fruit and two of veggies every day (I tend to eat NONE) LoL.
4. Lose 7 pounds by the end of the month (reaching 275).
5. Finish curriculum schedules
6. Finish inputting grades from school year just finished.
7. One chapter of Proverbs read every day.

That's the top of the list - :) Off to the races, one lap at a time!

My goal for this month is to track my food, follow 7 weeks to ripped prep program and get in my 10 flights of stairs 6 times a week. Oh and I'm shooting for at least 11 cups of water a day. My weigh in day is Friday. I'll try to post regularly what I'm getting done.

Welcome to July

Please join me in this thread... I need help being more accountable to myself for the things I do for my health (and sanity;-))

There are simple rules here, make you own goal,
Support one another,
Check in regularly,

I just had my weigh inday yesterday. I was 222.6 My weight loss goal for the month is 4 lbs my food goal for this week is to track my freggie and water consumption (trying to get in the tracking habit again) My health goal for the week is to finish the neuro paperwork and email the package back to them so I can hopefully get an appt soon.
