Yikes. I know that I am doing much better. I love the spring and it is a gentle reminder of all the good that God has blessed me with.

I found out Monday that I was having a miscarriage. One of the things that I turned to in my moments of quiet were my scriptures. It hasn't really mattered what I read, the peace I've felt just reading the word of God has been very healing. I know He has a plan for me and for whatever reason this is part of His plan.

I was reading James 4 this morning and something really stuck out at me and I thought I would share it here. It said asking and not receiving and the reason we don't receive is because we ask out of wrong motivates. It makes me wonder how often I have done that and how I need to change my heart and ask for the right motivation.

I think the biggest problem with us as humans, is that we tend to be self-serving. Self gets in the way of becoming complete servants of God. Once we can conquer self, then we can serve God, and others. Until then, "self" tells others to "quit judging me". We tend to adopt the notion of "you leave me alone, and I'll leave you alone". Of course, Jesus didn't teach this. His instruction on judging was that it needs to be fair. We are to hold ourselves to the same standard as others. We're not to become hypocritical in our judgements.

If we see our family member erring, we don't ignore it, but go to them and urge them to change their ways. That's the same relationship brethren should have in the church. We should look out for each other, and offer guidance, based on our judgements of their actions.
Anyway, that's my two cents worth. I must admit, that I don't always do well with this either. I can become too critical, and intolerant.

On another topic, I have been looking at Song of Solomon. It's such a captivating love story. I know that it partly describes the nature of Jesus' relationship with His church, but I sometimes have a hard time getting past the literal interpretation. I did find that the bride refers to the groom as "My Beloved", and that "Beloved" is used in Ephesians referring to Christ. It is so beautiful

It hit me last night as I was praying that my reaction to things have changed a great deal. The woman in my neighborhood that is walking her dog without a leash and allowing him to "go" wherever and not clean up, isn't bothering as much as it would have say a year ago. God has truly put peace in my heart. Which isn't to say, I still get the initial irk, but the difference is, I don't dwell on them anymore and so they don't stagnate. Does this make any sense?

Lately I've been praying without ceasing; like you praying at all times during activities. I do a lot of thinking while I iron and so do a lot of praying at this time. I pray in all ways too, in the car, while doing chores, at church with lifted arms, and I do get on my knees in submission in prayer at night. Not always, but when I'm compelled to.

My ds and I do our devotions at night, but I really enjoy quiet time in the morning in putting on the armor of God and having that study time to myself. I need to be more diligent in this routine.

So to answer your question, yes, I tell my ds he can pray anywhere, anytime and with his own wording.

Mel, I often find myself praying for people that irk me, and for myself that I allowed them to irk me. Most often I do it as soon as I find myself irked for otherwise it seems to steep within me. I do not like how that makes me feel over time, but it took what I feel as a long time to realize I needed to take such an action.

I'm steadily praying every day as I do activities that do not require me to be speaking to my children or in intense concentration of the task at hand ~ while I do chores, sew, etc.. I know it may sound like multitasking, but it seems to be when I get thoughts together with which I need to approach the Lord. I have never been a fan of the kneel and clasped hands individual prayer form and I always tell my kids that they can approach prayer whenever they feel they need to. Anyone else find themselves like this?

Mary,
mom to 4 beautiful children that deserve a healthy and active mother

recently did a study on judging. I think it's become a little misinterpreted that we aren't to hold our brethren accountable.
Personally working on praying for the people that irk me; ie. the neighbor that doesn't respect us, our property, or the dog leash law.

Well between my personal reading and sunday school class, I'm hearing loud and clearly that we are at war every day with the evil one. Church has the traits of leadership the first of which is brokeness.

What a fun and fascinating study! Thank you for sharing. Can you imagine if one of her officials came back and retold how amazing he was and how doubtful she probably would've been? She had to go for herself right? Solomon was too good to be true, so to speak.
You make me want to learn more about her story.

Today one of the readings I went over was about the Queen of Sheba's visit to Solomon. The timing of it was perfect because that is the woman my daughters and I are studying this week in our Bible study! (I have a women's devotional Bible that has devotions on many women of the Bible in it. I use those to lead my girls in a 4-day Bible study each week. I found some cute paper dolls online and printed them out on manilla folders cut to size. The kids get to choose clothing, hairstyle, etc. for the woman each week. They color it in and dress her up while I read the Scriptures and devotions based on the woman. They have so much fun with it!)

I find it intriguing that the Queen of Sheba went on such a long journey to see Solomon, even though she didn't believe half of what she had been told about him. The fact that she doubted how wise he was, but put up with what I'm guessing was a long, difficult trip herself instead of sending one of her court officials seems strange. I wonder what her motive was. Perhaps she didn't think she could trust anyone else's opinion to be accurate enough for her to accept? Then she found that he was even more amazing than she had heard! I'm sure she was glad she made that trip.

This one sort of fell in my lap the other day:
Matthew 23:9
King James Version (KJV)
9And call no man your father upon the earth: for one is your Father, which is in heaven.

I think there is a sect of Christianity with clergy using the term Father. So I was studying the capitalization of the noun. Obviously we can respect our biological father's, but we are not to give the title of Father to any earthly man.

Has anyone else studied this?

My goal is to spend some time in the scriptures each day, but not anything specific. I just really want that peace that comes from reading the Word of God.

I've been sticking with reading my daily Bible each day so far. I also went to my Life Group yesterday which is just a small group that meets to discuss the Bible, get to know each other, pray together and just be there for each other. I actually found myself singing praises when I woke up today =)

Does anyone have some gospel music they'd recommend?

Thanks for this challenge. I often tell myself that I need to spend more time alone with my Bible. I look forward to this.

By the way, the Psalms are truly beautiful. We sing them in our services.

Melody- I know you will find the grace to protect your son peacefully.

I am reading The MacArthur Daily Bible. It's a one year Bible broken down into a bit of Old Testament, Psalms, Proverbs and New Testament each day and has commentary by Pastor John MacArthur. You can actually read it for free online at www.gty.org

this is absolutely lovely~
Thank you for including this.
Currently I'm studying the armor of God and more scriptures are jumping out at me about the armor.
Just begun a book titled Lies Women Believe and the Truth that sets them free by Nancy Leigh DeMoss. It's interesting and I'm learning more about the rapture and our enemy(ies) and the deceit and how we must use Gods word as a sword to protect us.
I just went in a circle didn't I? LOL

I have a small prayer request: I have to write someone I don't have a good relationship with for my son. I need prayer that I put the right words that will touch her heart and not get angry with me, but understand my protection of my son. Thank you.

I would like to challenge my friends to spending 10 minutes a day with the Lord to help them grow spiritually over the next 12 weeks. With this challenge you use this thread to discuss any biblical or devotional readings you are using to help you grow, or take the time weekly to reflect on how you feel your 10 mins have helped you to find peace with yourself as you grow in the warm love of the Lord over the course of the challenge.

Feel free to randomly pop on here and add an emoticon if you just want to check in and let us know you are still going strong. If you feel the need to put a prayer request in here for something that challenges you do that as well!

Mary,
mom to 4 beautiful children that deserve a healthy and active mother
