I would like to check in weekly for the spiritual aspect of our challenge. It would be convenient to check in for that at the same time that we chek in with our fitness and/or weight. I was thinking we could each set a goal (like "x minutes of private prayer per day" or "read x number of chapters per day of Scripture or another spiritual book"), and post how often we've reached our goal.

I like the idea of the emoticon check in!

How would we do the blogs? Just let people know the title of our blog when we check in? Or would we do a little blog right here on this thread?

I too have trouble with photos. I've only ever been able to upload one on here. I'm not sure why the site would let me upload that one but no others. I'm not very computer savvy though. There is probably a very easy solution that I just haven't figured out!

These are just my ideas. I'm open to whatever.

I have a hard time putting myself in photos, but that is why I said that maybe people would volunteer to post a few blogs about how it is going for them :)

I think for spiritual, we could check in daily with what we read or share how it spoke to us.

As for the fitness, I think we can each set a goal, post it and we should have the emoticon day. Not sure how well the pictures would go (I have a hard time getting pictures taken) Maybe if we do a blog post we can post what we are doing to reach our goal?

OK so what I'm gathering is that we are going to start a thread for spiritual fitness, asking for individuals to check in on a basis... What type of check in basis do you want for this daily or weekly? I know there is no way to actually measure spiritual growth, so how would you all like to this?

As for the fitness "challenge" we are working towards a goal of 84 days (that provides for full 12 weeks, rather than a partial week like in our holiday challenge) In that we are going to chose to have a goal weight loss amount (maybe most of us want to try for 15 lbs?) or to maintain our current weight during this time. In this challenge should we ask for volunteers of blogs with photo progress? Should we have a Wednesday emoticon day to make sure that people check in and are still participating?

Thanks for helping me fit this to our group!

emoticon In regards to the spiritual fitness, do you want us to choose a bible study, or book to read together and discuss, or would you like it to be open to whatever you prefer?

emoticon Open to whatever we prefer.

emoticon For fitness challenge, do you want to name your goal (as we did with the last one) and then provide weekly updates, with me providing a summary weekly of all the participants? Or would you prefer we divide the challenges up into a couple of different threads and then have summaries on each of the threads?

emoticon 1st option

For the spiritual fitness I would like to leave it open to whatever we'd like to do. We all have different areas where we can use some growth, and it might be easier to set our own goals.

For the fitness/weight loss portion, I'm open to either making our own goals or having a choice between different goals that are pre-determined.

Thanks for including our input!

For the fitness, I liked having everyone on the same thread so we could all cheer each other on. It may not be our goal currently, but maybe it was once and we have advice for someone struggling. That's my opinion.

For the spiritual, I think the thing that I want is the accountability of making sure I study. I don't necessarily want to study a specific subject or book, but we could certainly share any insites that we find especially meaningful.

I agree with yenduchaka, it would be great to also have some kind of spiritual fitness as well. It was nice to have a gathering place where people could all state what they were working on, how we were doing, and get encouragement from everyone.

I agree with the open ended part, letting each person decide what's best for them I was thinking more of like 90 days because then that gets us through Easter and as I had said in the other thread it will also get us ready for summer.

The way you left the holiday challenge open-ended so that we could determine our own goal was great! There are a lot of challenges on SP that I don't join because the goals aren't ones that I want to shoot for at that time.

Personally, with the cold weather, all I want to do is curl up with a blankie, a good book and something warm and sweet to eat when I have extra time. I'm struggling with eating healthfully and getting off my rear end, lol. I'd love an added aspect of a spiritual goal as well. This fall I was getting up early to do a quick 10 minute workout before getting my shower and getting the kids up for the day. I decided that if I could get up 10 minutes early to take care of my body, I could get up 10 minutes earlier to take care of my soul. It's easiest for me to focus on prayer or Bible reading without anyone else up and about, so that's the best time of day for me to do it. Maybe something that incorporates both of these?

I like fitness and weight loss goal challenges. They really seem to motivate me and keep me focused more than other types of challenges.

OK After trying a few different challenges I am at a point that I need to know what type of challenge YOU want to have for the next month or so. I think that the holiday challenge provided a great form of accountability during those pesky holidays.

I was thinking we probably should have one for Valentines day, because it is usually another candy filled holiday (chocolates, cookies, heavy calorie dinners)... But I need to know what you all want so we can make this something you WANT to participate in.

Thanks for the suggestions/ brainstorming with me.
