Well I missed posting on here on Saturday. My weigh in that morning was 224. something, meaning that I lost weight up until I went off my meds then have started a slide back up the scale by changing nothing that I was doing... including not drinking sweetened drinks!

so my over all trial on this journey:

Well I lost a whooping .4 this week so I didn't even lose 5 pounds total but it was definately a good Challenge. Made me think with all those holiday sweets. Can we start another one of some sort? Maybe a "get ready for Summer" ?

129.0- down .4 lbs from last week's weigh in.
I wanted to maintain, and from my first weigh in to today's I gained .4 lbs. Not bad! I'm pretty happy.

Mary, thank you SO much for creating this challenge! It gave me the motivation I needed to avoid totally giving up after the holidays.

Well, it doesn't look like I'll quite make my goal by the beginning of Feb, but I'm slowly going down so that's good. Before my mom died (and I gained a bunch), I had been plateaued in the 170s for years. So I know the next few lbs are probably going to come off a bit slowly.

Paliz, I have to be off my meds until I get back to the doctor. I have been trying to find an office that has experience/specializes with my particular problem. The office I have been going has just recently sent me the papers for a spinal tap, but never the information for when it was scheduled, which leads me to believe the nurse never bothered to contact the hospital either. I want a more responsible office with which I can work. I also don't want to go thru a wean off and on roller coaster while I try to deal with this office.

TD when trying to maintain fluctuating between a couple of pounds is just about perfect! Congrats!

I'm getting there! My goal was to reach 170 by Feb 1st. I'm getting close! That will be a huge milestone for me. That marks my 2nd 10% goal and stepping into the 160s will be huge since it's been so long since I've been there. I'm trying to break through that mental barrier of 175 right now!

One full week without my medication where does it leave me? Well at 220.2, near 3 pounds of gain in a week. I do not think my portion size has increase by ahuge amount during this week. I am still making recipes that claim to fed 6 then having leftovers of 2 portions. I am not going back for seconds. I had two days on which I allowed myself to snack in a small portion of chips and salsa. I allow myself to snack occassionally ( but not daily) on almonds currently, but I consume no more than 12 in a day, which I am not sure if that even accounts for the quarter cup portion they call a serving. My activity level is not drastically changed... Anyone want to bet if I will be closer to 225 or 215 next week?

Well, I did it.....I maintained my weight loss (and actually lost a few pounds) from Thanksgiving through New Years Day, even with my birthday, hubby's birthday, and our anniversary thrown in the holiday schedule!! Whoohoooo!

Thank-you, Mary, for this challenge and accountability!! I've learned a lot about myself, proven a lot to myself, and learned great life-skills this holiday season so that I now know I don't need to fear what the holidays will do to my new lifestyle, just plan for them, give myself some grace, and keep making good choices on the non-holiday days.

The end date is Jan 31. Goal was to maintain or lose 10 lbs from the start of Dec until the end of Jan....It was set up more as a challenge to help us keep from gaining the typical 5+ lbs gained by the average individual during the holiday season.

I need to go through and do a summary of the last few weeks. I'll try to get that up tomorrow morning to help everyone track where they are as we enter the last 4 weeks of the challenge.

I honestly think your problem this week is most likely TOM and a need to flush out the extra sodium.

I'm up again (and lost track of how much I have to lose by when, can someone remind me of the start and end dates?) However, I know I had a lot of sodium yesterday and time of the month is due at the end of the week. However, today I get back on track with eating and exercising and I'm pushing myself for January.

I am shocked! I lost weight! All the homemade eggnog and Christmas Day dinner with all those carbs (corn, potatoes, noodles, roll)!!!

Still just maintaining however. Tonight is our 26th wedding anniversary, so it's a 'eat what I want, just in moderation' dinner. Then this weekend, we'll be traveling to my parents' for my family's Christmas. Mom is very supportive and my dad is diabetic, so there will be healthy choices at meal times. However, for the Christmas Dinner (on New Year's Day), we are having cabbage rolls, so again...'eat what I want, just in moderation' will be my guide.

I'm struggling with tracking my food this week, but I keep trying. I haven't felt well for the last week or so and haven't been able to exercise much due to the congestion and coughing. I did about 20 minutes of light strength training yesterday and that felt good.

We have a school room in our house, but the kids don't use it much anymore because my older ones prefer studying privately in their own rooms. So I'm changing it into a workout room. I'm keeping the computer (used mostly for math and typing for the younger ones) and a bookshelf full of school stuff in the corner. I cleaned out and decluttered most of the room yesterday. Just need to finish up today and move in the treadmill, the weights, and the TV. I really want to focus more on strength training and possibly running. The workout room should help with those goals. Right now, all of our exercise equipment is in the garage and hard to get to.

Doing pretty good. Haven't gotten on the scales yet this week.
I'm thinking I'll do that in the morning instead of Thursday morning since Dh and I will be going out to eat Wed night for our 26th wedding anniversary and eating out always means more salt than I am used to having and so my edema from high blood pressure will be higher than normal. I am quite curious to see what I've done over Christmas with my break in exercising and eating what I wanted on Christmas day. Then not feeling like eating for the past 2 days and hardly getting in all my calories.

Paliz I will hope that most of your weight gain is only water weight gain from the holiday weekend and your loss is easily recovered with a little discipline put back into place :)

Well I have a gain for this week. Almost 2 pounds worth but I was very bad over the weekend. Doing a 1 day detox today and then back to better eating and exercising.

As wrong as it is I'm upset with my weigh in... Why? because I had weighed in all week at 216.something all week. Last night was the first night I dropped off my medication some as I start my weaning in preparation for my spinal tap, so I expect my weight loss to drop off as my medication decreases (I had been unsuccessful for years at losing weight no matter how much I cut calories or exercised)

How is everyone doing? I'm impressed by the numbers I've seen so far on this challenge! I'm still working it too! I know Christmas Eve to New Year's Day will be tough. There will be lots of goodies and my Grandma's 90th birthday party/family reunion (which means traveling). But I know I can make good decisions!
