Thank you ladies!
I am going to go online today and check into the races. I believe there is a Turkey Trot right in my town. I appreciate the responses since this whole running thing is so new to me! Blessings! emoticon xo CLoudmama

You can actually enter at any point. You never have to run the whole distance unless you want to. The race atmosphere is so much fun, don't wait to experience it. Lots of Thanksgiving and winter/Christmas themed runs coming up. Grab a friend and go! Continue on with the C25k training, and your race times will improve as you do.

Have fun!

If c25k is a 12 week program then you should be able to do a 5k in December/January. Count out when 12 weeks ends and go from there.

Look into a walk/run 5k. There are usually many in Nov/Dec under the titles of Turkey runs or Reindeer runs. These give you the motivation to do the distance but the "permission" to not feel pushed to run the entire distance. I don't know what area you are in, but you can also look into The Color Run. So much fun and no pressure. Last Nov was my first 5k after 1year walking and 3 months walk/jogging. It was a reindeer romp put on by the local YMCA. It motivated me so much I kept pushing myself to the point I did a 5k trail race this past Labor Day. Just go have fun!

I may not have gone where I INTENDED to go, but I think I've ended up where I NEEDED to be.

Finished Day 3 of Couch to 5K and feeling good. Treated myself to getting fitted for a good pair of running shoes.
I want to sign up for a 5K so I have something to keep me focused on training. Anyone have any ideas about timing? My initially goal was to run one by May 2015 but the "running expert" at the shoe store said that was waaaay to long to wait.
I am clueless. Haven't ever been a runner except to get to home plate as a softball player in the old days.
Thanks in advance.
