End of June, so will be my last time on here. I am posting an article I read, so true and very interesting. I need to read this when I get upset because the scale doesn't move.

"Most people go into the weight loss process, well, wanting to lose weight. However, if you're just getting started, the scale may be the worst choice for tracking your progress. In fact, your weight may be the least important thing to keep track of.

It may seem counter intuitive, but the scale is better at helping you maintain your weight than it is at helping you lose it. The reason? There are important changes happening in your body that the scale canít measure or detect, such as:

Weight Loss Surgeries
Loosing Weight

Loose Weight
Burn Fat Fast

Changing Body Composition: While your weight is important, whatís even more important is how much muscle you have. Muscle takes up less space than fat, making you look slimmer, and itís more metabolically active. When you exercise, you gain muscle, raise your metabolism and lose fat, but that fat loss wonít always show up on the scale. Where it will show up is in measurements, how your clothes fit and how your body looks. All that can happen even if the scale isnít moving.

Changes on the Inside: You may not know (or care) about whatís happening inside your cells when you exercise, but whatís going on in there can actually help you lose weight. Exercise teaches your body how to release more fat-burning molecules. The fitter you are, the more fat you burn and that is something the scale can't measure.

More Strength and Endurance: If you exercise regularly, youíll be able to do more and more each time. You may start out exercising for a few minutes at a time or lifting light weights but, after a few workouts, your body adapts, allowing you to lift heavier and go longer. That strength and endurance means youíre making progress, but if the scale isnít moving, you may not pay attention to how fit youíre getting.

Your weight is just one aspect of your progress and, in many cases, it's not even the most important one. Itís unfortunate but, for most of us, the number on a scale is the determining factor in whether we've succeeded or failed. Using your weight as the only measure of your success is a lot like buying a house based solely on square footage. Sure it's nice to have 3,000 square feet, but what if itís across from a skunk farm?

Your weight loss is the same way. Having your weight at a certain number might be nice, but the scale canít tell you how fit you are or how much muscle you have. Your scale isnít going to cheer when you finish all your workouts for the week. Relying only on the scale may even make those workouts feel like a waste of time, even though each one helped you burn calories, get stronger, protect your body from diseases and made you more fit than you were before.

Beyond the Scale

If weighing yourself motivates you in a positive way, thereís no reason to change what youíre doing. However, if the scale makes you feel like a failure, it may be time to try something new:" End of quote

TUESDAY JUNE 30th: 153.0

Is it a pain to have to get to a fresh Fine Tuning Thread every 3 months? Perhaps for some this takes effort to remember how, (ahem, like ME) but the effort to FOCUS on why you want to be here with us IS reinforced when we refresh our efforts each season. That said, I'll set up SUM FINE TUNE CHALLENGE '15 now.

BRB, when I can Remember How To create a link for those not just looking on our home team page under MOTIVATION...

HOPE,
I looked back to find this suggestion of yours since I can't do exercise off the computer screen.
I haven't heard of this before, thanks!

"As a suggestion, for those who do not live near a yoga studio, use Youtube. There are alot of good classes available. If you can afford it, get a Ruku stick it streams video to your tv. They are available at Target and WalMart for about $40. Cost of a month of classes. Just an option."

First, all of you a wonderful holiday!!!

I wanted to update (in case you remember), earlier in June I decided to take aDietbet challenge to lose 4% of my weigh over the month. So between committing to learning portion control using Nutrisystem, Dietbet, and working out, my goal was to make a mind set change. More I did not win my bet (missed by 2 lbs), but I did learn portion control. I could have won by juicing, starving or just not eating, but that would have defeated my original goal "get fit". Some think getting for is just for the body, but as I am learning it is all encompassing - food, fitness, portion control, mind set, body. Tip neglect one would cause a failure in the overall goal. So as July comes, my goal again is to make right choices for me.

I use this time of year to get a few check ups, including, General physical, dentist, and not to ever neglect the skin. Two years ago this time of year I went and found out I had a small, what I had always thought was a birth mark, but it turned out to be basel cell carcinoma (good news not cancerious). But had it not been addressed, it could progress. It has been taken care of and now I am more conscious of the Sun, especially since I live in the desert (sunny 300+ days/yr). Now I go yearly to get checked, and this year another good report. Please take the time to get a check, it takes 15 minutes. The"red mark" that I always thought was a birth mark was not.

As for portion control, I will do one more month of Nutrisystem to solidify my commitment. The food is not bad on some levels, and it is convenient for me when I am working. No thinking needed!!!

As for working out, I am committing to workout on a steady basis. My community has a professional trainer that comes 2x a week and teaches kettlebell. They also have a yoga class 1x a week. All this free!!!! Do when my work schedule allows, I'm there. On the other days, I'll do workouts from Youtube.

I hope everyone else succeeds on their journey to health and fitness. I appreciate this forum of friends and support, I enjoy reading the posts from all of you.

Remember today we get an extra second in our day, enjoy the additional time!

So in January I was at an all time high of 168.
Today 156 so going the right direction..,planning to make it continue.
Plan on buying a nice Garmin with wellness points when I hit 154. Why does 154 sound soooo much lighter than 156?

Went for a quick 3 mile jog this morning totally forgetting that i promised a friend to jog tonight-lol. all good:)

The deer took my two largest tomatoes in the garden :( Also "pruned" my peppers and cucumbers.

Have a good time today!

Fine Tuners, We shift to a fresh thread for our Summer Challenge in 2 days.
Evaluation/assessment/honest reflection option time is here.

emoticon Monday JUNE 29th: 151.5

BETTY,
Interesting read. Articles can say anything so I think we must know our sources and do our own investigations now that all information is there to research on the web. Folks I know who had your experience had to cut more than one thing out and perhaps the explanations always have more to the story than face value. There will always be opinions and individual experiences out there.

Great going on the arm exercises. I am not doing any whatsoever.

MICHELE,
I skipped dinner and did a very LONG walk with Maria instead. It was WONDERFUL! I put in (drum roll) 17,661 steps for the day! Weather is so IDEAL right now that it was a Must Do.
I have had sleeping problems and anxiety that wanted relief. So the reward? Dropped the scale fluids down to my precious 151.5 which is 9 pounds over goal. I did eat a huge apple with peanut butter at bedtime after drinking water and relaxing, so it's not like I skipped nutrients. I am SO grateful today.

And the weather is great again right now. I have a headache and am sluggish now that sleep is beginning to nurture my nerves, so I will stay present to the moments rather than force anything. I think that anyway. I am slow right now.

WEDNESDAY a SUMMER thread will begin for us.
Tomorrow is the last day HERE.
I asked you what are your reflections for this quarter, knowing I had my own to face.
That I did choose how I did yesterday feel like a huge GIFT!

I love you all,
Dale

Good Morning all,
Ok, for a week now I have been very good at arm sculpting every day and only missed 2 days of treadmill. I haven't been keeping track of calories though, and not good at counting my carbs. Need to get back to that. I am guilty of sitting too much watching baseball. Yesterday was a double header, so watched 2 games! ouch! A lot of sitting. I do make it a point to jump up when they advertise. I had even made Unstuffed Cabbage Rolls for yesterday so I didn't have to cook! My weigh in day Wednesday. Think I only lost 1 lb in the month of June. Not letting myself get upset over this, as perhaps the slower I go, it won't come back. My body seems to hold a certain weight for a while before it drops to the next level.

Here's a food tidbit for you. I was raised on white bread, now we are told it's bad& one should only eat whole grains. Well, having some stomach issues, I have found out when I eat the whole grains bread, I get diarrhea. Now Ijust read an article" think white bread is bad for you? Wrong! Research reveals that white bread benefits your gut by warding off diarrhea due to grems in food & by easing the inflammation linked to other digestive woes. It is rich in resistant starch, a fiber that boosts immunity."
That said, I just baked 2 loaves of my English Muffin Bread several days ago. Yes, it's high in carbs, but my diarrhea stopped. So, eating 1 piece a day, and it is so much tastier than the English Muffins you buy.+ filling. HAVE A GOOD ONE! emoticon

Michele,

Have a question for you. Do you have Matcha powder green tea in Japan? I can buy it at Vitacost.com, Now, the reviews on it are about health benefits. However, I read an article that one cup of this equals about 10 cups of regular green tea. One lady said she actually lost 6 lbs in a week. I know., I can't believe everything I read. But others said it really made them feel more energetic and is supposed to protect & even reverse sun damage. An MD
confirms that the antioxidants in Matcha slow the aging process. So, I am interested in your knowledge of this. Betty

Sunday 28th of June: 154.0

JULIA,
I ACHE with desire to have that tub experience, too. Soon my tenant will move out (end of summer projected) so he can have his desired relapse elsewhere. His bathroom is where the light is bright for reading in the tub, but if I can't wait I WILL follow your lead I SWEAR. exhale

Everyone must adjust to the ups and downs of living and even muster up gratitude about still having the option. I want to snap out of just letting that reality take over my goodwill.

We have OPEN windows today! Practically a miracle.

Eating. Unrest in my heart at this time, but I will ride it through to calmer sleeps and happier spirits.

We are about to close out this thread. Just a few days here to take a look at, learn and move on from. LIFT UP TO THE LIGHT of who we really are and what we're made of.

Sounds like everyone is doing well. I was away for a family wedding and then up to Mom's to get her to doctor appointments. Then my daughter came home for a short visit. All good!

OK here is my new tidbit to share. After lots of exercise and running around, I had an achy body. a nice soak in a bath with 2 cups of Epsom salts(super cheap at Costco), 1/2 of baking soda(also bulk at Costco) and a few drops of lavender oil. Felt great and washed away my tensions:) Going on a leisurely walk with a friend in a bit.

I'll weigh in tomorrow.

Have a wonderful week celebrating the 4th!

I too, do not like the limits that come with aging. Because of the severe humidity yesterday I did not do my vigorous exercise. My body was just too tired! Before I would have pushed myself. The news says to be careful of one's heart, of which I must, as heart dieseae runs high in my family!

I'm finding it difficult to accept the growing limitations of age so your comments are so welcome, Dale. I had to unpack a few boxes and move a few things around at work and was surprised and disappointed that just a little such activity took a toll. So, yes, still learning how to live within those limits.

Friday JUNE 26th: 153.0

Glad to see how you each are working your way along about your health. The pan left cooking on the stove is a distraction that I have been mindless about for that fraction of a second as well, where I think I'll be one second... Aging and mindfulness are a bunch of yoga poses, and sometimes we can't be that flexible. Staying in the moment 100% is impossibly perfect, just a practice we must exercise as well.

Our spring Fine tuning is now in countdown because not only do we know that the calendar has already kicked off our summer, the crazy weather no longer matches from one moment to the next.

I just heard a woman from New Guinea say their island is ruined to farm from the rising sea water seeping into their soil and the thousands of citizens must evacuate and learn skills other than farming. When will humans have foresight for their greediness? (Sorry, it gets to me!)

emoticon emoticon emoticon End of a week, I totally agree with me about how "it's dangerous for my own well being to do more than my own welfare requires" as it was happening just days ago with me. I paced carefully to aid a friend in crisis but the variables were sometimes not my own choice so even slow breaths and calm attitude did not protect me from exhaustion when all was said and done. Like the Serenity prayer says (paraphrased), we have to be mindful to change what we can but accept what we can't, honing our skill to discern the difference.

Andrea, that backwards math is my main complaint!! I can work for a YEAR to lose weight and gain it back in a weekend. Hmmm... Something is clearly amiss! But I'm sure the vacation was worth it!
I'm proud of myself today because I made it back to Zumba after quite a long break. I got a good workout and managed at the same time not to overdo it.

Still following through with treadmill AND weight lifting for my aged arms. Why didn't I notice them getting flabby sooner?
Weight still the same. Made out fine at Step_daughter's Father's Day Brunch which lasted all day. We got home 9:30 last night. Was a nice day-hadn't seen Den's family in quite a while. They never come here.
DH cutting grass in the 87 degree heat. Rain forecast rest of week, so he decided to do it now. We had that terrible storm Sat. night.

I made 2 gluten free low carb cheese cakes for the brunch. Put an almond crust on one. No one seemed to mind as they got eaten.
Weigh day WED.? I'll be back. I may make it a Fri. I'll see emoticon

emoticon emoticon emoticon 153.0 monday June 22nd

good morning. emoticon weather warming up here, 90 today and 97 tomorrow! warming? boiling is more like it.

my friend's movers never showed up and I stayed home with Scott for a relaxing day that included a massage. then we took mom out with us for dinner in the evening.

perhaps today he'll find another mover, and I will help but I am careful not to take my friend's crisis fully on my shoulders... since it's too dangerous for my own well being to do more than I my own welfare requires. (that's a new lifestyle for my 'later years'.)

fitmary,
I appreciate your acknowledgement just as much, thank you.
!
michele,
great that your day yesterday was also quite peaceful.. is father's day a thing in Japan? doubt it.

emoticon The longest day of the year has come and gone.
It's now officially summer but NOT yet our summer Fine Tuning Challenge thread.
WHAT's going on with YOU for You?

emoticon 153 lbs: Saturday June 20th

Egg diet? My, my, I am so NOT into fad diet interest or eating.

We have to do a reality check on what we are doing WELL and, are grateful about!
I have a 73 yr old friend with serious health issues interfering with making a normal living who just got evicted and what a shock to his pride and coping!

Life can spin totally out of control for anyone at any time. Let's be mindful to take loving, healthy care of ourselves over minutia to this goal, and let's have some energy and care to reach out to someone else after that.

I am heading out so my post is a little cryptic today. If the rain blows out the blues festival outside as expected, my time there will be short lived, but that's okay too.

As a suggestion, for those that do not live near a yoga studio, use Youtube. There are alot of good classes available. If you can afford it, get a Ruku stick it streams video to your tv. They are available at Target and WalMart for about $40. Cost of a month of classes. Just an option.

Thanks Julia . I do get a lot of recipes off pin-interest also. I have not been diagnosed with a gluten problem. I just feel that I have a slight problem with it. I notice when I stay away from a lot of gluten, my psoriasis starts clearing up, plus I don't have the diarrhea problem.. emoticon

"Only 3 miles left." That's wonderful and hilarious and inspirational all at once!! Definitely a keeper!!

I need such inspiration right this minute. I went to the gym and found that I have gained a few pounds instead of losing. I know exactly where the problem lies:
emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon

I've been indulging to deal with stress. And right this minute I am fighting the urge to run downstairs and make myself a nice batch of chocolate chip cookies....
But I'm NOT going to do it. Why? Well, because there are "only 3 miles left." I CAN get through the evening without any more sweets.

Betty there is a great gluten free cook book out there by the people at Cooks illustrated. 2 of my daughters friends are super sensitive to gluten( ER visits) and she got the book for them.

So I did the long run the other day and said something to myself that made me laugh. It was 6:30 in the morning, 74 degrees and 92% humidity. I'm talking to myself to keep pushing to complete the 8 mile run. At mile 5..,"Oh sweet, only 3 miles left"!!!
Was not talking like that in January.

Heading up to Chicago for a family wedding. excited to see my daughter.

Stay well!

emoticon Yep, that's how I feel. I am joining you Michelle & Dale. I'm stuck also. I did do the intermittent treadmill only twice this past week. I was supposed to do it 3 times. One day I just felt yuk, so skipped it.

Now, have you heard of the Egg Diet? Well, I did it 2 days and went off. It did nothing. You are supposed to do 5 days! Beginning of 3rd day, I just felt like I had no energy so I quit. But I am watching what I eat. Never over 40 carbs!

Father's day coming up. We are going to Baltimore area- to DH's daughters for a brunch. Now having to eat what others fix can do me in. My Step-Grandaughter will be there & she has celliac disease, so maybe they will consider her when making the food. Then I'll be ok. I'll eat what she does. I am taking a gluten free cheesecake (she & I can eat it. LOL) Maybe I'll come up with another dish. I am looking at a chicken salad that is gluten free.

The weather here is so depressing, all it does is rain!

P>S> No yoga classes around here. I live in a small dumpy town!

155.5 emoticon tuesday june 16th

emoticon our spring fine tuning is coming to a close now so let's stop any b.s. left and choose self esteeming options, puleeze! I speak here to ME.

1st: HOPE, thanks. emoticon
2nd: YOGA, still on my list but not my schedule. emoticon
3rd: MICHELE, you and I are in the wrong direction with eating and unhappy with ourselves for it!

4th: JULIA, still a strong example of tenacity. And my only photography class was portraits, too, and I had a fab portfolio that got stolen once it arrived at the fine art school I was accepted to. Now the pictures are only in my mind, being naive in my 20s about first getting copies made. Foolish youth.

5th: FITMARY, I want to mimic you for all the good you do. Not "other" stuff. I didn't wind up attending that art school but did get a BA in fine art elsewhere. Drawing classes throughout high school and collage were wonderful, but I abandoned all art a few years later. Like lifetimes of eras that stand alone and unbuilt upon.

Take any courses you think will be FUN. That's the only reason I had. Just for the sake of doing it.

6th: ANDREA, I think you are getting a bit uptight. Don't bother. It won't help you cut back on your food splurges if you are anything like me. I've intended to maintain around 142 lbs but
although I achieved it, lost my maintenance after only a few months, and now am climbing
up the fat ladder. I must be gentle with my self talk and I hope you will, too.

emoticon EXHALE
Last half of this month, I will focus on doing things I can report to all of you that I do right.
I am eating all that stuff that adds pounds, and not focusing on enough positive choices for each day. Full disclosures required. So I must say I put leftover frozen green beans, shallots, and a small amount of scallop with mushroom bag all together and nuked them. No calories there. Then I toasted an Ezekiel bread slice, topped it with my tuna salad (hb egg, onion and water canned fish) plus, I defrosted wild blueberries and mixed them in a bowl full of small curd cottage cheese. All three dishes were my 10:30a.m. breakfast.

Now it's afternoon. Wish me good use of the hours remaining in today!
p tiger DALE
Up early (by 6) I walked around Wilde Lake with the dogs at 8a.m., even though it was already warm AND 85% humidity.

You guys are great! Guess I need to get my body to Yoga ASAP. If I move forward in yoga as well as my little jogging adventure..,I'll be a new improved person by this fall emoticon

Taking a six week photography class---portraits. I used to be pretty good at Photography -back ages ago. Bought myself a nice camera last year and never really have taken advantage of all it has to offer. Excited.

Going for a very early 8 mile jog tomorrow. Its been so hot I think I will go out a little before 6 am. I'll let you know how it goes.

Hi everyone, it was nice reading through everyone's posts lately. Work has been crazy busy, but now it slows for a little bit, then I'm on vacation in about 14 days. I'm going to a morning yoga class out by our pool, which is nice. I've been trying to attend the free kettlebell workout classes 2x a week. This past week I had to miss due to late night work, and a day trip to Los Angeles. But back in track this week. I've been working hard to stay committed to my Dietbet to lose 4% in a month. If I do, the winners split the bet pot ($5,600) right now. So a little money motivation works for me. In still doing Nutrisystem and it seems to work, I'm learning portion control. Today I went to the store but was always thinking how to make my selections the right portions. So maybe one more round of Nutrisystem and them on my own.

Have a nice weekend everyone.

Ps Dale, my name is Hope.

I want to encourage you all to get yourselves right down to the nearest yoga class. My Pilates and Piyo teacher include lots of yoga in the classes and so does the substitute who comes when the regular teacher is out. It is an excellent, low-impact workout and really helps strengthen the muscles. Have you see the video of the 96-year-old yoga instructor on youtube?

Julia,
Yoga is something I would be interested in. I am very unbalanced and understand it helps. I wish I could find a yoga session on TV just to learn it. I have downloaded one on my laptop, but find it difficult looking at a small screen to learn, also it doesn't stay on if I don't move my mouse. I have an older sister(doesn't live nearby) that has been doing yoga all her life. When we were at shore together, I tried some with her, but couldn't do it. She said because it takes a lot of practice. She is now 83 yrs. and you wouldn't believe it, tall also. She has never had a weight problem. Go figure!

Betty, that interval training will definitely work. That's the way the training for a 5K starts out on the 5K Your Way training team here on Spark People, and it really, really helps. They tell you to do 4 minutes at your normal intensity of walking or jogging and then 1 minute of fast walking orr jogging. After a few weeks, they bump you up to 2 minutes for every 3 at the normal speed, and so on. It works! That's the way I got ready for a 5K last year, and I still use the intervals to give my metabolism a boost. Go for it!! It WILL work!
emoticon

I made it to Piyo again today. I thought I was going in to a nice peaceful Pilates class, but learned that the Piyo teacher was there. It makes me feel so clumsy and uncoordinated to do the Piyo, but I think that's a good thing. My body needs the challenge! Woo hoo!

BETTY that is a very well thought out plan! Good for you. Stick to it! Exercise is NOT an issue for me, with the lifestyle over here. My problem is getting carried away with calories, thinking that I am stillyoung enough that whatever I eat will come off right away! WRONG!

I tend to get carried away on sundays when DH ALWAYS overeats! So I too, am going to make an EATING plan today. And then must STiCK TO IT!!! no matter what!

Okay, here's something some of you may be interested in. I am desperate to see 145,?! so I decided to give it a try. I did this today on my treadmill. I walked 20 minutes. Tomorrow will not do the same? By the way this is from a magazine, not my format!
"
1. Schedule 3 18 minute walking sessions per week.
2. Start each one warming up with a comfortable easy walk for you.
3. When 4 minutes are up add a 30 second blast of intensity, pushing your body
as hard as you can.
4. Relax, walk slowly, your recovery phase.
5. Repeat the pattern/4 minutes of gentle walking, followed by 30 seconds of intensity 4 times for a total of 18 minutes.
6. Complete 3 sessions a week- and start looking for a smaller size."

Anyone game for this? It is supposed to keep your metabolism going through the day. I am looking for new ways to get my body to respond. I will let you know at end of week if it has done anything for me.

emoticon One last note. Be sure your healthy enough to do this. Probably not good for anyone with heart problems, etc. In doubt, ask your Dr.

I did it inside in comfy AC on a treadmill. I walked at 2.7 miles per hr. then increased it to 3.2 jogging slightly for 30 seconds. Hey, one thing it did do was take the boredom away. I am usually good for only 10 minutes on a treadmill.

Hope this helps someone. emoticon emoticon

Good Morning

I am down 1/2 lb! Silly to claim that, but haven't seen below 150 in such a long time, I can't remember when. So today 149.5

I read that Fri is a better day to weigh in weekly, perhaps because it's on weekends when we slip. So that said I am going to try Fridays! That's tomorrow!

I almost fixed pancakes for breakfast, but think I'll change it to dinner with sausage. I just got some NO SUGAR syrup. I FIND ELIMINATING SUGAR HELPS. But I am guilty of sneaking in a Snickers fun size. emoticon emoticon

Mary,
Those classes are SWELL! I admire your activity from my chair here.

Michele,
We are all young. As long as we're alive I guess we are young until the day we aren't and that day gets a goodbye eulogy.

I was about to walk again but Matt showed up with his date and will do the evening walk of sorts. If it's just around the block I might just decide to do it again myself for the fresh air.

Last week I totaled 66,538 steps and this week have pledged all 70,000; that way I will definitely go over!

Let's keep going!!

I had a great workout yesterday at Pilates. The instructor is really stepping up her game and we have to hold on tight for the ride. I hope to get to the gym today for some weight lifting and a bit of time on the treadmill.

emoticon JUNE 8th MON:
Vacillating scale all week, hit 151.5 but today 154.0 -- Oy vey? Naw-- Oh well.

BETTY,
We can all celebrate your August birthday if you just remind us. At 150 lbs you are steady eddy, right?

MICHELE,
I never complain about my age. I just know that when folks ARE really old all the young folk refer to their age as xxx young, that's all. So I felt too young to not just say my age normally. No matter.

The weather has been blissful here lately so I put more steps together with pleasure. Yesterday totaled 13,000. Our upcoming week promises the opposite, and though I can't do humid heat, have decided to finally pledge back up to a 70,000 step week.

With my friend Maria now working in my mall instead of another area, I can feel more at home there. I generally hate malls but improved my attitude when I finally decided my step total with the Fitbit was more significant to me than the store areas. It IS a very big mall so by walking a complete circle on each of the two floors, adding just one department store and my goal is met.

Up EARLY this morning, I'm looking forward to a phone visit with our team co-leader, SUNNYBEACHGIRL. We had the pleasure of hanging out for an afternoon together when I visited California.

I love you all,
Dale

yes! Sixty-six years old is YOUNG! Back in '03, my cousin who was 38 died of brain cancer; he left behind 3 kids, all under 6 years old. I am more than willing to be that if he could, he would change places with you in the blinkof an eye! I promised myself after his passing that I would NOT complain about what fate/God has in store for me. that I would be honiest with my age, weight etc. emoticon

Michele,
66 years old and you call that young? Anyway, I'm happy I figured out how to post the shots. I still have so much confusion trying to manage any photos! SO MUCH CONFUSION, don't ask.

Everyone sounds great to me, and CHICAGO, you are Kickin A** (Wish I had a name for you.)

Later ladies, I must get these mutts out immediately.

Thought I would give a little update on what I've been up to. Work has been crazy busy, but have a few more days of this pace then some rest and vacation at the end of the month.

Now for the interesting part (I think). A couple weeks ago I decided to use Nutrisystem to learn portion control. I also joined Dietbet for June. With the stress of work I thought for sure this would not work. But it is!! I have been doing some workouts:kettlebell 2x (1hr)/week, Scientific 7 workout 2x (7 minutes)/week and yoga/meditation when I have time. I have to say I am so happy with the results, this week down just under 4 lbs, with 2.2 for the goal with my bet (4% loss in a month).

I don't intent on living on Nutrisystem, but is has greatly helped me with portion control.

I don't know where (only what is posted) each of you are on the weight loss journey, but the one big thing I have learned, is I accept where I am in my journey. I take it one day at a time, I do have a cheat day periodically, workout within reason (no more hours in the gym), and enjoy life!!

When I started participating with this group I had more than 10lbs to lose, and now I'm happy to say, I am within 2.2 of my June goal and overall 7 lbs of my total goal.

Thank you to all of you for your inspiration, encouragement, and support!! I appreciate it!!

Have a wonderful week ahead, and stay focused on your goals.

Sounds like everyone is doing well?!?

Had a great Ethiopian dinner last night. Ate it guilt free since I knew I had a long run scheduled for this morning.

Have a great week!

Dale,
Good for you. Isn't it great to see the scales go down instead of up!

Fitmary, I agree with you. I need to get the exercises in no matter what the scales say. At this age, I do think it keeps your bones stronger. So many people break a hip, then need hip replacement. So this way if you fall, it won't be as severe. Want a funny story? Not funny then however. Last year at beach I actually rolled out of bed. It was a twin bed (mine is queen at home) Well, I was sore for 2 weeks! But no broken bones! All my kids were so worried.

My weigh in day is Wed. So far scales looking good. Through the week I do step on scale every day(with clothes on) then on weigh day, strip. I'm bad, I even get on in the evening and if weighing 4 to 5 lbs over then, say to myself"I don't want to weigh this at night!" I know as day goes on you do weigh more.

HAVE A GOOD ONE EVERYONE! emoticon

I saw 151.5 yesterday (thanks to Nordstrom full order of roasted vegetables for dinner.
Last night late dinner Scott and Maria) sushi restaurant that serves an avocado and asparagus salad. We ordered 3 very different dishes and shared. Fun.

Saturday the 6th of june: 152.5

Time is flying by. I must (must!) get a good shower and take the dogs out for a partial lake walk. Today -- our Center Stage Play: MARLEY
It's a musical and has sold out its run, so we look forward to a very cool afternoon. Tonight perhaps, I'll get enough of a walk in. (Finally, had a good # yesterday at 13,000.)

Oh, and MATT has decided to remain in what was to be his temporary job as a su chef, turning down a full chef position so he can work less intensely, has more hours available for his recovery meetings and a social life, and stabilize his money. I reduced his rent by $100 to compromise the stability of his remaining here.

Betty, I love your "grain assault"!!

Michelle, I've accepted that the scale does what it wants some times. No matter what it says, I MUST keep doing my exercise. For one thing, my bones and heart need it, and even more importantly, if I stop exercising for more than a couple days, the scale WILL respond... in the wrong direction. One of life's many mysteries...

Dale, you had me at "Lindt chocolate"!
