Happy New Year everybody!

My goal for this quarter was to get my bodyfat below 30% and to hit the 125 lb mark on the scale by Chistmas. I am now at 123 lb and 27% body fat. What was every one else's fine tuning goal?

Im not sure what my goal this quarter will be. Still thinking it over...

Monday DEC 29th: 151.0

My STEPS last week:Total 68,506
That is close enough to my goal of 70,000 to celebrate the accomplishment. I tried hard.

The beach drive isn't until either 12/31 or 1/01. I'm also sorting out a request to fly to Montreal in January to be supportive to a friend who has a court hearing. If I go it would probably be for a week. I'm investigating all the steps I have to take to make it on such short notice.

For this week, NEW YEARS week, I only pledged 60% of what I normally go for. That is challenge enough right now, to average 6,000/day for a 42,000/week

I only did one round of Wilde Lake this afternoon. That's my Modest maximum in me right now.

Thanks for the info ARRO-YO. Hope you met your challenges! Actually, I find the step goal to be difficult to meet at 6000 steps. I sit all day at work and if I don't walk at night it is amazing as few steps I actually take during the day. That will be one of my goals without doubt!

Good luck with your surgery tomorrow.

I am feeling ok. Actually think the problem might have been from something I ate.

Only had a problem from about 3:00am Sat to about 7:00am Sat. Went to my party today and had a nice visit.

I am having a bit of trouble with my mood at the moment, but am sure I will be fine after the hubbub is over.

Agilek9 - we each set our own goals quarterly then support each other to reach them. My personal goal for the quarter was to trim my weight down below 125 and my bodyfat below 30%. In addition, I set my step goal up to 7500 six days a week with a weekly total of 55,000, as measured by a Fitbit.

not sure how long I have been MIA, but it won't get much better for another week, I don't think, been so busy with Christmas, and my yearly down in the dumps as well as feeling bad, my hip went out, and just generally falling apart, but things are looking up.
The first 6 months of 2015 I am going to be motivated, and have a goal, (class reunion) that does it every time, it has been 5 years since I joined Sparks, and I sure was motivated then, and will be again.
I have my cataract surgery on Monday, and know it will be great seeing again, so just real busy trying to get all those eye drops done,
I read back, and it sounds like a Merry Christmas was had by all, FOunder hope that you are feeling much better by now.

Don't be discouraged. You exercise so very much in your daily life that you have to be very fit and healthy. I think you are doing great.

Had a bit of a stomach bug over night, so laying low today. Not going to my Christmas with my close friends today, so that is disappointing, but I will live! Think I am ok by now. Fingers crossed.

Have another party tomorrow afternoon. Hope to feel good enough to go

Michele, don't give up! Don't ever give up! I understand the frustration, though, because I was on a plateau that lasted, literally, for years. What helped me finally get that stubborn weight off was interval training. Turns out that if you work in intervals (say, 4 minutes of your normal effort followed by 1 minute of intense effort), you get a much better workout. Give it a try. It might be just the ticket!

Michele for me it is all about food tracking along with the exercise. I am sorry you are feeling discouraged. Feel free to contact me f you want to vent or brainstorm.

Yesterday I walked wearing a t shirt. Today when I got up it was snowing like crazy. Two inches and still coming down. It is going to be a tough exercise day!

I feel likegiving up right now. The scale doesnot move. My pants do not become loose. If I exercise any harder than I am doing already, my body parts will fall off, no joke. Life is a constant walk/bike ride here. Can't quite figure out other than starving myself, what I am doing wrong....... emoticon

My sister just called from Raleigh at 5 a.m. just as we got up: dad had a mild heart attack He is 84, & severly obese. He has other heart issues. It is a good thing that I am going to go to Raleigh in Feb. to visit Not a good way to start my Sat. morning, however!

emoticon Looks Like CINDY, MICHELE and I are wanting to set the bar for 2015 and hover around near there! Fighting for our mental coordination, impulse control, mood and vision to sync into alignment.
emoticon Remember feeding a baby with a spoon? We make the spoon an airplane accompanied with sounds to focus their brain on what you want them to do. We are our own infant, getting used to what is nutritious instead of what distracts us.

emoticon Count Down to Claiming Health and Happiness Long Term:
The FINE TUNING Challenge sets the Tone for our 2015 Reality.

Christmas day didn't include reading as I had hoped but it was filled with my son's updating lots of function and coordination between my computer and iPhone capacities. That we had time together in my office and he wasn't saying "no time, I have work to do" was the gift I want the most. And though it wasn't a mega walk, I did make my steps later in the afternoon. Nater and Mom and I had linguini and kale with garbanzo beans for dinner upstairs. And copying Mom, I chose PBS to watch Miss Marple Mystery instead of any Christmas stuff or repeat shows. Getting older and changing preferences all the time.....

I reconfigured the dog cages in my office to bring the second chair close to the computer and one window. Ahhhhhhh! I'm off to do some paperwork before making sure this time I get plenty of walking in while weather waits a day or two more to get sloppy again.

Oatmeal blueberries and walnuts for breakfast.
Phone calls and paperwork and cheese stick... and it's almost 1pm so I better stop interrupting what I write here and get on out there in that sunshine!

Very windy here this Christmas day. Still cloudy, sigh. Did not walk or work out today. I did not count calories either. I gave myself the day off. Ill get back to it tomorrow.

I weighed in at my goal this am. Now the challenge will be holding it. I am looking forward to sharing 2015 with you all!

emoticon I have one pound pledge to shed in this last week of 2014. I do not want to see 150 at all. Challenging right now, of course, but that's what makes making it so special. The underdog delivers once again! Hurrah.
emoticon Today was my father's birthday. Christmas Eve. He's been gone for 22 1/2 years already. But while he lived it seemed like forever. He was a very imposing personality. Creative and interesting but a bear to live with. So for me this is a private day of personal reflection.
emoticon 10 hour shifts? OUCH~! I did them long ago and found them brutal. I also lived over an hour away and had a little boy at home to raise myself. I barely stood it then and had no life outside survival. How are you managing? I would think very carefully and thoughtfully. I'm impressed.

A relative of mine is 57 and has impossible hours and serious responsibilities as an ICU anesthesiologist where of course under staffing is the way they like to make profit for administrators. He was sick as a dog with that horrible cold/flu thingy and yet was required to function at work. Isn't that insane... Any other profession and the person would not be wanted in that shape. (Oy vey, life's unfair.)

My ramblings this morning feel more like a chat than a fine tuning talk of health. But I do find health to be about body, mind and soul, or whatever words work for you. I was highly productive yesterday and under slept but today back to that swollen, fuzzy head feeling I can get. Scott wants to get away for a few days with me and my cousin held her beach house open for me but I fear I can't leave my mom with her dizziness and blood pressure so wonky for weeks now.

emoticon emoticon Better go get some breakfast in me! There are strawberries already defrosted and mixed in yogurt waiting for my mouth. Oh, must sprinkle on chopped walnuts! YUM. didn't sleep again! I think I will take benadryl tonight. I 'm not into taking meds-but this lack of sleep is making me nuts.
Got my 3 mile walk in early since I woke up so darn early.

so glad you're with me on this week with eating mindfully. I'm fighting my
urges by picturing snuffing them out with the image of self pride and care.

Cindy,
I must make due each year, too. I find it way better to remain peaceful
and self fulfilled than chase the chaos that ensues. I tried attaching to my
male friend's family but felt quite the outsider, plus I didn't want to be with
them for every event anyway. There are too many of them.... Anyway,
I even have to stay off the road at peak shopping frenzies, due to living only
within one mile from a huge mall.
emoticon Folks are dangerous out there, and desperate. I stay calm
and away, plus just count the days to pass peacefully.

No walking yesterday or today with weather encouraging me to stay inside.
I did make dinner for myself now that holiday time swells roads and restaurants.
Tomorrow I go to the movie theatre that is NOT the one by the mall in order to
watch WILD.. and Scott and I'll see Encounter (is that even the title?) later in
the week.

As far as us all wanting to laugh and enjoy Book of Mormon, I think we owe it to
ourselves to actually research when, where and how we can make that possible.
Wish it was still on Broadway in NYC and I could just see it there, but at this
point I'd just like to see it anywhere.

Dog walking round the block whether raining or not is next. They've barely been
out the door for more than a minute both earlier outings. I exaggerate on 1 minute
but it's fast.

Home from rehearsal. Things are going pretty well

Have Ellee and Gracee tomorrow, and rehearsal tomorrow night. We are going to go out and spend some time together, cast and crew, after rehearsal tomorrow night.

My lead actress is sick, I am hoping that she can kick it quickly. She was there tonight, keeping fingers crossed that she can preserver. Without her there is no show.

Hello friends, I'm hanging in there with exercise and food tracking. I have not weighed but I have held the line so I should be fine.

We have not seen the sun in days. I have been sitting in light though. And keeping up with cardio.

The holidays are trying for me. I lost my parents young (I was 12 when my Mom passed, 20 for Dad) so holiday traditions are other people's domain. Im hanging tough though. Just another week and we will be beyond it.

I have a few good books to crawl into so Ill be fine. I love a good book.

The Book of Morman sounds fun. I think Id like it!

Four days between 150.5 and 149.5 so far and I feel I've stopped that pound inching climb. It's a WONDERFUL WEEK to bring it back under the 150s for the New Year.

Went over my step goal for the week and proud of it! emoticon 77,+00

Rested all day yesterday once again. Have inconsistent energy and focus with low cold symptoms or weariness threaded through the last couple of weeks.

HOLIDAYS are a great time to shift recipes from full calorie versions to healthy versions and not miss out whatsoever on the taste. I PROMISE.

Was mia yesterday because I was too busy having a good time. LOL

Two of my cousins came from out of town and we went to see a touring company of "The Book of Mormon". We laughed so hard. The singing and dancing was great and the actors were all good.

Written by the writes of South Park, it is not for the faint of heart. Very irreverent.

Had dinner at a local Lebanese restaurant and they loved it. Erin lived in Kuwait for the past 4 years teaching and traveling on vacations to wonderful and exotic places. She is home this year and teaching in Cleveland, but has plans to visit other places to work.

She enjoyed the food, and thought it was very authentic.

They left about 11:30am, and now I am resting before rehearsal tonight at 5pm,

I've learned from my Aged Parents to focus on the good. And, yes, they've had their struggles, but do a wonderful job of always turning toward the light.

Your parents are in good health! That's the best. Are they upbeat later in life because they have security or were they always that way even during the years of struggle? They had some (struggle) in there, didn't they?
Enjoy their company! and thanks for reading my blog today. Probably needs to be simplified but I was trying to be fancy in my writing at the same time as spurting thoughts out. In the old days it would be rewritten many times before published. (But who am I kidding? I edit my regular posts all the time! In this case I probably should have on the blog, but want to choose other things within today.)

Forced myself awake, dressed, and in the kitchen before 8:30, I walked over 8,000 steps at 10:30. Couldn't fit it in and stay relaxed if I didn't sacrifice the needed sleep for the walk. Tomorrow I can sleep again.

In 3 hours I must be ready for a DC party so I can care for (feed and walk) all 3 dogs before leaving. Mom must stay home with her bad cold and in bed rather than outside even around the block.

Good for you getting that back brace on, layering up, and getting out there! You're exactly right: it's the only way I CAN break up lethargy.

Yay for your 2 days!

What I have done is to buy light bulbs that are supposed to be for SAD and put them into my ceiling fan in my bed/sitting room. I had bought two, and broke one, so Scott went out and bought me two more and put them all in for me.

I cannot afford the light boxes or lamps.

I seem to be better this year so far. Not sure if it is the lights, my working at the theater again, or just having a better attitude in general.

My two lead actors called me this afternoon to see if I could work with them this evening. I needed a break, so I said I could not. My friend Joyce was here cleaning and we were going out to eat after.

I was glad she was here, so I could not go, or I probably would have. I need a couple of days off. WIll be fine again for Sunday.

There is, however, a lot of satisfaction in being needed. They are really good about it and appreciate all that I do. I just needed a bit of time off.

I will only be involved with the show until Jan 2. Then the show opens on the 9th. I may go to the dress rehearsal on the 8th, but for sure will be there for the opening night.

It really is my joy, even when it is a bit tough.

Have a lovely weekend my friends. My back is beginning to hurt from typing so will have to stop now.

DALE I also am not being controlled by food for 2 days! We are on a roll together!

as for DD, she lives with us while going to her japanese college. she was in Boise for 9 months studying but is now back. she is due to be graduated in march, & hopefully will find full time employment. The difficulties betewwn us belong totally to her, not me. Except for last Aug, i more or less ignore her moods. i have learned well for self preservaton. I was ust caught off guard one moring thispast week. i am fine now. I am sure that she will not b e her a year from now but rathe residing in the U.S. where she really wants to be. I also believe that when she gets a REAL taste of REAL life, she will come around!

Not feeling well at all the other night took away my appetite. YAY! I was very uncomfortable but the sensations passed. Now I have 2 days where food is not controlling me (once again, halahluyah) so the party tomorrow night will work out fine. You never know when you can snap back into place your priority and ability... ( don't know how to spell hallahluyah )

In the meantime I am addressing my apathy with the shrink who does not want me to up or change modest meds. He said get a light box or light lamp, and I called the Internist to also ask if any ADD med might be worth trying in order to get me functioning. Looking online, the box looks like you have to sit in front of it. I want a room to open up so I can read or do whatever in several locations. Too many choices for me! Suggestion?

Glad your Mom time was within one day's attention. l know I'd love to get away for a few days but can't comfortably do so with my Mom having such wonky blood pressure readings. She says that they keep jumping!

MICHELE,
Oh DD. I didn't know she's home for the holidays, yes? If she isn't still at school next semester I would tell her to find some other relative to bounce off of and stay with. LOL. Let her stay in the states. It's such a hard age. Please don't hook into her emotionally. My Mom
always has with me and it's been stifling for us both.

emoticon Walking alternate days this week for really long, sort of double distance outings, I'm due to do it again. Can I make myself? I'll post my steps here every Sunday or Monday to keep you and me in touch with WANTING to be well.

emoticon Over the last few years I've had huge satisfaction by USING this season as a challenge I WIN.
It's so satisfying to only pick the healthy stuff, and if sweets are the garnish for the meal, make sure it's the highest quality and the smallest portion to satisfy. I'm so excited to be feeling like I have returned.
