Don't despair. With all that you have been through, you are doing a wonderful job in maintaining. Please recognize how well you have done. Don't be sad.

I was in the pool today. Swam about 40 minutes, and then played in the pool with Scott and his daughter and his son for an hour or so.

I try not to go out early in the day, because when the weather is good, as it is now, I am in every day, and I don't want to get too much sun. The pool is in shade after 4:00pm or so.

The water is a good temp as we have not been having the cold nights. I have actually left the solar cover off this evening because I am planning on getting back in when it is dark later. I really love to swim at night.

My left knee cap is bothering me, but that was my really bad leg from top to bottom before having the surgery on August 20th. There was a lot of atrophy in the muscles in that leg, I walked by swinging the leg out, and so the muscles need LOTS of work.

I know it will be fine once again when I get up in the morning. It is not that painful, it basically just feels stiff, sore and odd, if that makes any sense.

It's all good though. They told me that it takes a year for the knee to totally heal, and I am not there yet. The right knee is very good because when I was rehabbing the left knee, I was taking pain pills, and was able to rehab the right knee as well. I had the range of motion in my right knee at 106 degrees before the surgery on that knee, so it is MUCH better.

After both surgeries, I had my range of motion at 110 to 112 degrees, which is more than my surgeon wanted, but what my therapist wanted. My surgeon want 100 degrees, so he was very pleased that my wonderful therapist was able to lead me to working really hard. I was very blessed.

As usual, I am free associating and I digress. The same thing would happen if you were with me in person. I pretty much have no filter. If it goes into my mind, it comes out of my mouth. lol

At least when you are reading, you can skip ahead, or whatever. LOL

yep, I plan on weighing in July 1, and I know it willnot be real pretty, but not bad, it has been a busy busy eating month, lots of walking but not that much working out.
but I went to the gym this morning, did one sparks video and am planning on a walk this evening,
Dale, sure hope you get to feeling better, and Lisa so happy you had a great weekend, and a new job that you are really looking forward to, I loved working, I kind of looked at it as my social life, and I did work hard, just really enjoyed everyone I worked with, this is how I feel about my gym, just a bunch a great guys and gals, it is a silver sneakers class, and lots of fun,
I really envy you Founder with a pool, I think I would be in it today, if I had one, well not with my ear, but the good news about that is that I have not had an infection in quite awhile, my next appointment is the 8th of July and if it is still looking good, I hope my ear drum replacement will be in November. fingers crossed.

Hi Everyone, I'm back from a weekend in Reno. I'll weigh in tomorrow to see what kind of damage I've done from all that dining out.

DALE: You asked me for 3 good things in my life. Hmmmm, how do I pick just 3? Right now in this moment I would choose my wonderful husband, the wonderful weekend I spent with my in-laws in Reno and my new job. But of course I'm also grateful that we didn't come home to a houseful of ants (we were overrun before we left for Reno and were afraid they would come back while we were gone), and I'm really happy that we finally caught the rat that's been sneaking into the guest bathroom at night. Ha ha, it doesn't take much to make me happy!

Oh, and I start my new job on the 14th and I'll be working 40 hours a week. Looking forward to my training!

I had meals out, walks, and even the first facial in decades to perk up my spirits.... but

I am actually ending this quarter of our challenge on a high note, and that ain't pretty! (It's a bit of a shriek sound; euuu.) See my crossed eyes in your imagination!

this morning:
Tired and quite under slept night to early alarm for a gym appointment to set up my 2x/week strength and endurance 60 day program... Bill paying day big time but all I want is to get back to sleep asap. Ug. Later my fine feathered friends. I want to be able to return with exercise posted and encouraging words. Right now I'm dumbfounded.

Glad you had a great trip.

I was pretty tired today. Had a sinus headache this afternoon. Was reading, and kind of fell asleep. My friends Nancy and Diana were coming over to get into the pool. When they got here, I woke up and my headache was mostly gone. We had a nice time in the pool, and then went for a nice dinner.

Just hanging out now.

back from my train trip, and bus, it was great, such gorgeous country we live in, but I have 1 day before I weigh in and am hoping for a zero gain or loss, we will see.
I will go out and walk this evening, too hot right now, but I am getting my 10,000 steps in daily, and at least 1 sparks exercise so it sure could be worse, If I can just stay away from that bread and butter, it seems it Is always calling my name, and of course, I answer emoticon
I see we are all working at keeping motivated so important, I really need Sparks to keep me on the straight and narrow, and I will weigh in tomorrow or Tuesday, and share my month.

my fine tuning has been lacking, but I still have a 123 or 125 goal by December and that is not unattainable. if I stay motivated.

Hello!

I went into D.C. with Scott to hear a singer from NY perform songs of Sarah Vaughn which was a real change of venue. Held in the Smithsonian Anacostia Museum in S.E. DC, we never had been there before.

At 8:30 pm I went around Wilde Lake for the second time and it became just as humid then as the morning was. Drip drip. But Scott promised me a back rub and actually hung around until I cooled down a tad for it; ahhhhh! I took a benedryl and slept WELL. Thankful for the combinations of the day.

But now it's Sunday and I am tardy about everything again.. I haven't even walked around the block. Yet, here is what I just posted on a sparks dog lovers thread where I had never been before:

I see from my spark mail that I was invited to this team back in 2011. Must have lots of distractions..

Not new to Sparks, I live with my 9 lb Bichon/Maltese named Oliver, about to turn 7 years old in 2 weeks. Walking with him is very important to my maintaining ANY motivation in general!!

The more he exercises, the livelier he becomes -- what an inspiration.

I decided not to go to my friend's house. I just wanted to have a day at home.

I rode the exercise bike for 30 minutes, and then spent time in the pool swimming, and on the deck reading. I am glad I did, it was a good day.

Glad you got your walk in. Good for you for not letting the weather stop you.

Hi team,

Have had a good day. Went to the park for a nice walk with my friend Joyce. Walked about 35 minutes.

Very happy about the exercise I am getting.

Thanks for the support Team. What a difference one day now made.

TODAY
I WILL do some chores. Next.

Improved mood - told Mom how I have become depressed in morning and talked with Scott about it in the afternoon, both supportively responded
Improved motivation - was then able to get myself to walk the mall for an hour all by myself
Improved sleep - last night I got 9 real hours
Improved weight - ate dinner upstairs with Mom and Scott (salmon, brown rice, bok choi and cantaloupe) and ate dark chocolate bar with almonds at night

I am feeling so much better about everything because of the exercise. This morning I rode my exercise bike 6.5 miles in 32.5 minutes.

Went to the movie, came home, walked 30 minutes, then got into the pool to cool off and do some gentle movement for my knees.

I feel so much better when I get my exercise. I also am feeling so much stronger. YAY

TB You are doing great. Hoping you have a great time at your events!

Honey, I have to say that I think you have come back from your illness really strong. I agree with MICHELE, sometimes you just have to listen to your body, as it appears you are, and give yourself a break. Really hope you sleep well tonight. I am certainly a person who understand how not sleeping is so difficult.

got over 5000 steps in today Yippee-broken up in little bits as I ease into walking routine again. Stitches still pull a little.

Bonnie thanks for the Zumba information, doesn't sound like it is an exercise for people with knee problems. You sound like you are doing a lot of exercise minutes...way to go!

Today is a planned day off. I have 2 social events tonight after work and so I organized my cardio and strength sessions around today. I have gone down one to two clothing sizes, so that is a good sign.

We had a lovely day. It was supposed to be mostly sunny, and it was more cloudy than sunny, but we still got into the pool and had a nice time.

I had just turned the filter off, and was in the pool pulling the solar cover off, then as I stepped out of the pool, the big raindrops began.

We sat under the screen house and watched it rain really hard and for quite awhile.

Finally we went in got dressed and went to dinner. The roads were very flooded in some places. It stopped while we were eating, and it was sunny coming home. Crazy weather.

Had a good day though.

Well ladies, the humidity is 76% today; I have to bike ride 40min. mostly uphill to my piano lesson & tone chime pracitce. I am going to sweat. A LOT!

I have not done Zumba for a long time due to all of the surgeries I have had. Would like to get back to it again in a couple of months. I did not do it all out because if my back and knees. There is a lot of bouncing and jumping, that I just did not do, and probably won't be able to do if I go back. I would just step and move as best I could It is fun because of the music, so that is why I would like to try again.

Waiting for my friend Amy to come over and we can go out to the pool. I did 31 minutes on my exercise bike already this morning.

Did over 13,000 steps yesterday but ate disgustingly. I am in an insecure place emotionally if I'm shoveling in sugars. It's tempting to go up to the Chat Thread and whine about the things that are crowding out my good humor, but that's not facing forward to focus on whatever IS right. Harumph.

Nice addition to your week to have an easy income added. That the job is no stress has tons of value, too. How many hours will you work, do you know yet?

BONNIE,
We do the best we can. Yes, but I know when that isn't working right for me. So right now I'm overdue for a few tweaks. My consultation about meds is overdue and I'm still trying to get an appointment (at U of Md Hosp) rather than at some local doctor. I'll have to make a plan B soon.

Rain threat today. Off to walk Oliver at least around the block,

Lisa- congrats on the new job, hope that it gives a little incentive to your day. Have a great hike and burn some extra calories while enjoying the outdoors.

So for all of you Zumba people (Bonnie, FitMary and others) I have a question. Is Zumba hard on the knees? Can it be low impact? I don't have to worry about humidity like FitMary, it is so darn dry where I live but I have to be super careful with my knees.

Dale- your step total looks really good especially all that you have had going on. I hope that you too have a good last week in June!

One good lesson that I actually learned from Spark is not to keep waiting until Monday or a new month or a new year to get back on track. It sure makes a difference to "put" things right immediately and not to always wait.

I think you did great with your steps last week! WOO HOO

Today I walked outside, it was quite humid, then came home and got into the pool. Swam about 20 minutes, read in the sun, read in the shade, swam for another 20 minutes, and feel much better today.

I am doing the best I can every day, and working to make myself understand that is all I can do, my best.

I have so many good things to report! First, I was offered a job this afternoon. I'll be working as a Receptionist at an Assisted Living facility about 15 minutes from my house. The pay is not great but certainly better than the zero that I'm making right now!

TB2BEFIT: Yes, I'm doing another race in November. It's a 5k and I've just started training for it. I know it's just over 4 months away but I would like to be able to run the whole thing, so I thought I'd better start now. FITMARY: I think 5k's are the most fun because they're short and I always push myself to beat my previous time. After running in September you should consider signing up for another one.

I'm also going on a rigorous 5 mile hike tomorrow, that'll burn about a million calories!

Aloha BONNIE, how was the luau? Congrats on the 8 lbs, that's AMAZING!!!!!

PAT TB JULIA MERRY -- we're going to pace and space and listen to our bodies and encourage their use and do well this week! I'm so glad everyone returns to do what they can, since the only one we're improving are ourselves. (I wish I could change others but dang, the buck stops here.)

My step total for last week was 64,652 so I didn't quite make 10,000 per day but I did the most I could fit in. I have the $1/day for 60 day gym program to begin so I'm excited to be adding that in.

HUMIDITY and ZUMBA - dangerous mix. Humidity and any excursion, be careful.


Oliver is barking with insistence!!! so I must go right now,

Greetings! I hope today finds you all well!
Julia, good luck with your recovery. My gym buddy had a foot problem and ended up having to use only arm machines for her fitness for a few weeks. But she lost weight that way! So, go for it!
I made it to the gym last night and did Zumba very carefully. No spinning around and only careful, careful jumps. It was so humid, but the cautious approach worked and I avoided a headache! The 5 K race is my first (perhaps my only?) and I hope to jog it...

I will be out for a couple days while I help a friend. Hoping to return at least no heavier!

Best wishes on your recovery. Don't push yourself, your body needs most of it's energy to heal. Check with your Dr before you begin exercising. You do not want a set back. God Bless

Did ok with my eating today. This has not been a good positive day today, but I have been having a lot of good positive days, so one blue day won't kill me.

Am going to try to get some extra sleep tonight. I actually need to order a new mask for my C pap, as I think air is escaping from the old one. I have been putting it off because they are very expensive, but I am going to call tomorrow and order a new one. I need to get enough rest so that I feel good. That is more important than anything. I will figure out how to pay for it. They are pretty good about it, will give me time to make payments. I just have so many other expenses right now, that I am being penny wise and pound foolish! LOL

I will be good tomorrow.

Julia I had an appendectomy 20 years ago & could only walk slowly for a while after that. Easy does it!

Hey gang-I'll be rejoing in the next quarter fitness challenge. Had a hysterectomy on Wed and can't exercise for awhile other than walking. Will probably do arm work outs with light wts. Looking forward to getting going again. Hope everyone is doing super!

Did get in the pool last nighty. It is still a bit cloudy, but I am going to take water back to the pool store today, and see what they recommend.

So I need to regroup or at least recharge for the last 7 days in June. I was a bit free with my eating the last few days.
Challenge for the last week in June:

4 cardio sessions, longer than 45 minutes
2 or more strength training sessions
one extra exercise session (for variety)
keep treats under 150 calories per day
water,water, water

Merry Mary- good to hear from you again, you'll get back in the groove soon. It always takes awhile when you have been away.

M & M's are addictive, so I don't even have one...otherwise stopping is pretty hard for me.

FitMary - a 5 K race sounds like a good plan. I haven't done one in years. A good goal for your birthday. Are you going to walk or run? I can't run anymore because of my knees but I know that I could walk a 5K.

Lisa- Are you doing a race again soon?

Oh, my. That headache was a doozy! But the day finally ended and the pain is gone. I'm going to the gym this morning just to walk on the treadmill and lift weights. No jumping!
I hope you are all doing well and can get some relaxation and a little movement worked into your day.

My party was great fun. Visited with lots of people that I love, and lots of people who love me. Ate reasonably. Then I saw the M&Ms. Ate too many. No one loved me any less.

Hi been back for almost a week, and stil not on line as much as I would like, went to exercise a couple of times, had the flu, just can not get in the hang of my walking yet, been hot here, we are getting ready to take off on a train for a week, sounds like fun and something my husband will enjoy, not much walking and the last 2 nigts at Tahoe, so that will be fun.

I did weigh myself, and really need to do something in the next week or so, and that includes losing a [pound that I am up, can't believe it, but I willk try harder

been reading the blogs, and will get back on board I enjoy it and need the added motivation.
