I haven'[t been able to make the vanilla shake because I don't have any vanilla protein powder & the car won't be fixed until Tuesday. emoticon But I do have chocolate protein powder & now I'm off to the kitchen to make this shake on a moderately hot summer's day!

I'm about to lose my mind trying to re-enter this recipe from that website into SparkPeople's Recipe entry... Why ?? doesn't SparkPeople have software that does the automatic recalculating of "5 tablespoons" into "(decimal fraction of a) cup" ??

And of course, we all enter in ingredients like Truvia as we see them... but then "one serving" is rather nebulous. So off to the Truvia site I go (and I would use Stevia anyway because I don't like the extra junk that Truvia corrupts their stevia with...), and they have four downloadable conversion charts for the various products. Oooohh NOW they tell us! After I totally fell off the wagon eating a gut-busting Sonic Concrete. Don't know if there are Sonic Drive In's in Canada, James, but its at least a regional mid-USA fast food joint headquartered in Oklahoma... on the positive side, my husband and I split the one. But anyway my own dumb fault... drinking some bitter guard tea now to try to rachet down the glucose level a little.

Later: Thinking this might be a place where I could add a bit of my unflavored beef gelatin to give it more of the soft serve texture? I don't think it has carbs, will check...

Here is the link to the recipe I used:

Ingredients
6 tablespoons heavy whipping cream
5 tablespoons unsweetened almond milk
1/8 teaspoon sugar-free vanilla extract
2 tablespoons cocoa powder
1 1/2 teaspoons Truvia or 2 tablespoons equivalent sugar substitute

Instructions
Start whipping cream with mixer until soft peaks form.
Slowly add remaining ingredients.
Continue beating until stiffer peaks form.
Put mixture in freezer.
After 20 minutes, remove from freezer and stir with fork to break up frozen areas around edges.
Keep checking mix every 20 minutes and stir until itís cold enough and the right consistency.


*My changes to the recipe: When I first start making the drink, I use equal parts of heavy whipping cream to almond milk (I use Califia's unsweetened toasted coconut almond milk). I use 3 TBS of cocoa powder instead of 2 and I like to experiment with the extracts. I've used vanilla, almond or peppermint extracts to give a different taste. For the sweetener, I use 1 TBS of monk fruit sugar and 1 TBS of powdered stevia. I follow the rest of the instructions. Once it starts getting frozen, that's when I change things up again. I add more of the coconut almond milk to make it a creamy milkshake consistency. (I usually add a total of 1 cup of coconut almond milk to the drink. One cup of the Califia one I use has 1 gram of carbs which is 1 gram of fiber)
