check out one of the keto calculators. i started with 5% carbs, 75% fat and 20 % protein, but now i'm 5-80-15. everyone is different.
Maria mind body has a good one that gives different ones for whether you are trying to lose weight or not and at what speed. ruled-me has a good one, too. type keto calculator into google there will be a bunch!

Sandy I believe thats incorrect..too much protein and it will turn to carbs and you will not see the benefits of a ketogenic diet. Protein needs to stay at or below 15-20% of your diet.

I was aghast at this among other things when I started researching keto. Goes against EVERYTHING we have ever been told....

Track carbs and protein! If you only track carbs then you might not eat enough protein to keep your body healthy. Not enough protein and you will start to lose muscle.

Best Wishes and GOD Bless to all!

I just track total carbs.

When I track I track fat, protein and carbs, and the carbs are divided into fibre and non-fibre.

Fibre is technically a carb due to its structure, and termites can digest fibre, which is why they eat wood and we can't. I don't think it is totally black and white. We may be able to slightly digest some fibres, but perhaps so little that we might as well consider fibre as having no calories.

So carbs, fibre having no calories, and non-fibre having about 4 calories per gram.

My goals are about 60 to 80 grams of protein a day, net carbs (not counting fibre) about 30 grams a day, and fat as it comes.

I track protein, fat, and carbs, but I'm also still learning to get the ratio right.
