My greatest challenge lately is staying focused to get things done! I can get up with the best intentions and a list that needs done, but get too easily sidetracked by things not even near the list and never get anything needful accomplished. I am trying to write things out with hope that having it in front of me will help me focus to get it done.

I will try that. I do 200 sit ups a day at the gym and 60 side ones. So I am sure that helps too!

Have a great day!

Cathy (Topaz) here is another vital practice that helps greatly to increase support to the back so I can exercise:

Click the "sorting last post on top" option for the instructions. When I was taught this, the PT thought is so important that my first week of instruction was to do this only. He did not give me more until I firmed this belly area and got some strength to it. I can tell when I am strong here because I don't have to think to firm this area before moving. It is automatic, as he said it should be.

Cathy (beachmom), I am praying for you, girl. Being without adequate rest is miserable. I have to take melatonin periodically. It seems to knock me back in cycle to take it a week or so, and I will do well again for a long while before sleep issues begin anew.

Cathy (Topaz), I understand the back issues. For me it is stretching that helps and allows me to exercise. There is one stretch that really hits the spot for me and I use it after exercise a lot, and then just when my back is bothering me. Using an exercise band (or a long towel that will allow your leg to lie straight if you don't have bands), wrap it around the foot of the leg you are working and stretch it out straight holding the ends in each hand while lying on your back. Bend the other at the knee to relax and flatten the back area to the floor. Lift the straight leg up, using the band to help you--no straining, and pull it back till you feel a good, yet comfy stretch in the lower back and buttocks. Hold for a 30 count. As you hold it, let your back relax into the position, pulling for a little more stretch as it does; then carefully lower, controlling the lowering with the band. Repeat 5 times. Reverse legs. I got this during my first PT session for the issue and it is the one that helps more than any other. Praying you find what works for you. BLESSings.

My challenge right now is lower back pain. I was recently diagnosed with degenerative arthritis of the spine. I tried chiropractic but didn't get much relief. The problem this presents is finding a different exercise regimen that helps keep me flexible without making the back pain worse. I haven't found that balance yet, and my fibro symptoms are increasing again with the lack of regular exercise.

My challenge right now is sleep. I was taking flexiril which made me sleep all night but also made me put on 6 lbs and the scale was going up still. I worked much too hard this last year to lose 10lbs so I stopped it and down 4lbs already. But having a hard time sleeping up off and on all night.

Have a great day!

My greatest challenge right now is my mindset. Fibro brings brain fog that challenges my ability to keep my motivation for the changes I am making at the forefront. I too easily fall to frustration and discouragement when I can't recall why I am here on this journey. So I am working through some blog posts that are outlining my motivational reasons, giving me focus on days of struggle.

As we seek to encourage one another to press past Fibro to make the healthy lifestyle changes that will help us, let's share our greatest challenges. What is the greatest challenge to your journey today? And what are you doing to address the issue? If you struggle in the same area as another of us, be sure to encourage one another with your experiences that have helped you to overcome.
