I've been having fun with my February goals. Here's my progress to date:
1. Sketch of an owl in flight (pencil)
2. Drawing of a young woman (pencil)
3. Three artistic photographs (mountain scene, snow and shadows, and icicle hanging from clothes line)
4. Two new songs learned on the guitar (Irish folk tunes for classic guitar)
5. Pen and pencil sketch of my house plant
6. Drawing of a stag (pencil)
7. Sketch of a building and mountain scene (pencil)
8. Sketch of Mt Adams and building (pencil)
9. Worked on assisting my composer friend (I contributed the chords for her composition). One song I was successful; the other -- not so much ... (very complicated melody and non-standard chords)
10. Pen and pencil sketch of my wall clock
11. Oh, and Don's birthday card (watercolor) -- done on day 1
12. New song (Mexican folk melody) -- I'm trying to learn a new strum and rhythm on my guitar

I like three or 4 of these creations, and I am happy I tried all of them

Here's my week 3 update: still doing my art.

17. sketch of eagle in snowy tree
18. helped composer friend again with a another new song
19. painted watercolor landscape (this was a big project and I count it as 3 because the steps took me 3 days: sketch and block shapes. Paint color wash backgrounds. Paint details of scene)

For February, I am joining a goal to become more creative (inspired by the blogger Clever Manka). The goal is to do something creative each day in February, within certain parameters that you set for yourself. The overall challenge includes using materials that you already have (Use up those fabric scraps! Bring out the leftover yarn! Use your left-over paints!), and to not set quality standards (i.e., if your goal is to paint a GREAT picture, you might never be satisfied. If your goal is to just paint SOMETHING different, well you are bound to have fun and keep going.

So I will either draw a sketch; paint a painting; learn a new song on my guitar; or take an artistic photo daily. Here's day 1 -- I painted a birthday card for my friend Don, who turned 80. Sorry I wasn't able to change the photo orientation (sometimes I get that option, and sometimes I don't)

My goal for February is to walk a minimum of 1 mile/day, 5 days/week.
February 1 - 1 miles
February 2/3 - away for week-end
February 4 - 1 mile
February 5 - didnít walk
February 6
February 7
