And my dh is soooooo busy at work lately that I barely see him. Having some "big" activities planned helps to get through the day-to-day of seeing him for mere minutes.

My dh and I get to go to a colleague's 40th birthday party this Saturday. Should be nice. Then, next month, we go to a dinner/show. And then, in June, we have free tickets to a play! I'm so excited!

Our typical date night is movie and snacks after the kids go to bed, it's fun because we laugh together...we rarely have time to do that!
But on the down side, it's not a good time for communicating.

Another good date night option is going to dinner at a quiet place and sharing topics of information that haven't been brought up in a lonnnng time. Like, where do you see yourself in 10 years, and what do you love most about life, what do you want to change about yourself?
We have very young kids, so we don't get to talk too much.

We have done date night ever since we got married. This Thursday (April 24) is our 8th Anniversary. Sometimes it is a date day depending on his schedule! ;-) Our favorite thing is to take our books and go to Starbucks, (or here in Albuquerque we prefer Satellite Coffee) and just read. We do other things too sometimes stay home or go to a movie, "winging it" is fun and keeps a 'spark' there! teehee

For date night we just went on a hike last weekend up the mountain near our house and then drove to Red Rock and hiked round 6 miles there so it was an active time~

That's nice, Sharon! My in-laws love doing puzzles together.

My dh is not a puzzle fan, but my younger two kids and I enjoy doing them together.

TAYSTHENAME, love the date at Starbucks with your son. I bet a lot of people are inspired by you two.

My husband & I did a puzzle together. I never thought it would be so much fun.

We don't have a specific day that we call date night. We are huge on spending time together any time we can, especially with him being in school and working at the hospital, life gets crazy. Each night we spend at least an hour together running/going to the gym, this hour is perfect! We are able to share about our day, things we learned, prayers for others, and complete silliness. We are still 12, I think. Sometimes we feed the kids pizza or something they want early and then he and I cook a nice dinner just for the two of us to have a date at home. We are big fans of just randomly getting to go out to lunch or dinner just us. He'll get a day off or something and the boys are at school so he'll ask me out on a date- it's adorable.

During the summer we try and do a getaway just the two of us. Our wedding anniversary is June 30th so we try and plan it about that time. This year we'll have to adjust that because his first day of his summer term is... june 30th. We live in Ormond Beach which is 20 minutes from the Daytona Beach pier so we stay down by the pier and do the activities down there. Right before school starts we also do a getaway with the kids down there.

Oh and I take my boys on dates. Really, they take me. Sometimes it's just to Starbucks, but we have the best time! Noah and I just sit and chat. He is content to just be. Zackaree has to be doing something. He's not ADHD or anything, he's just a worker and mover. So he and I play rummy. Imagine being in the middle of quiet Starbucks, your 14 year old beats you in a hand of rummy for the first time ever. He stands and does a touch down dance. Not so quiet in there anymore. LOL

Grace and Peace,
Teri

Date night with the SO?
Yeah, at least once a week we do this because we are so busy with work, sleep, 2 younger ones that if we didn't we'd never see one another!

What did we do?
Oh, we have done hiking, walking at the park, my cooking his favourite meal and serving him for the evening, he reciprocated by taking me on a trip, taking drives, staying in and getting into one another with talks, questions, just being with one another quietly listening to music~

Would we like to start or do more?
Well, we are taking a wedding trip over the summer for 2 weeks, so that is doing more together. We enjoy each others company alone away from others so that is the doing more :)

We try to get away for our anniversary too. I live in Michigan and there are so many wonderful places for us to go. Last year we went and visited several wineries and did some tasting. I came home with several bottles.
This year I'm thinking the U.P. and going to pictured rocks and going some hiking. What ever we do it will only be for a short weekend but we will not be going to any of the larger cities.

We started doing this back on our 20th Anniversary ... Since our anniversary is in the SPRING we try and get away for a 3 day weekend. We leave on a FRIDAY as hubby works 1/2 day and then comes home and then we take off to some place new. And so during this weekend away we talk about what our plans are for the summer ... if it means vacation, growing the garden or we talk about the kids. We even have some time to sit down and do some BIBLE reading and share what we have read.

I usually bring a bottle of Sparkling NON - ALCOHOLIC Red Grape Juice & some glasses w/ us. I also bring along some strawberries or whatever fruit is in season at the time. Hubby is in charge of sweets for us { chocolate } & we do bring along some other stuff too. If the hotel has a pool or hot tube we bring along our suits and sit and soak. However recently some of the rooms we have stayed in have Jacuzzi & so we do not bother to leave the room when we have one of them in the room.

We also try and get out & do a movie or two. We also do go out to eat & find healthy choices instead of JUNK. So, we do get out and do some WALKING along some hiking trails at a few of the places we have stayed at & see the signs of spring and so it has been fun ... then wee turn around & do it again in the fall of each year. So, this year we are going to a wonderful place that faces a lake and in their add they say each room comes with a FREE SUNRISE & SUNSET and so ... I am looking forward to going here. Then in the fall we will be taking a trip to the EAST COAST { NH } because one of my sister's is getting married in September and I am looking forward to heading out there for a week. As my parents are up in years and I do miss them very much.

What to bring on these weekend trips:

* Chocolate
* Fruit of the Season
* Sparking Non - Alcoholic Juice of your choice
* Plastic flute glasses
* Bible w/ notebook
* Books to read
* Bathing suits
* For the ladies ... Something sexy to show off

Just have some fun with it. As I said I am going away on my spring weekend trip in about 27 more days so I will come back and share how it went ... so stay tune !!

Other date night ideas ... When we are home ALONE when our daughter is at work we normally have some cuddle time ... and watch movies & maybe go out to eat !!

PS: This year on April 1st marks 36 years being married to each other and we have been together 37 years this week on the 25th of February 1977 when I met him at a Valentine's Day Parti and kissed him and said I LOVE YOU ... the rest is history !!!

We have been trying to do something together at least every 26th of the month (our day of our meeting, as well as our wedding anniversary day).

So far, we have played a game together one night, went to a party/dinner out once, went for lunch this month, and another time went for a walk or skiing, can't remember which.

We plan to go to a dinner theatre for our actual wedding anniversary, but until then, I hope to continue the tradition.

We do a lot of stay at home date nights. They usually include a nice dinner and a game night. Every once in a while we go out in the afternoon and have a nice lunch and go bowling. Most of the time we stay in but we usually have some kind of plan to make it special.
