Drink strong black tea with creamer in it, eat fruit, or brush my teeth with a mint toothpaste, rinse with mint mouthwash. Sometimes have a 1 oz square of dark chocolate. OR==try drinking 8 oz water and waiting 1/2 an hour to see if I am still hungry.

I take a deep breath and then go do something for 10-30 minutes and if I am done with the thing and still want it then I'll have a small portion.

I have some tea or a piece of fruit. If that doesn't work I have a tiny piece of that craving so it will go away.

I try to wait it out, but if I can't I just try to find a substitute. It helps that I don't keep any junk food in the house and I don't have much 'snack' food (such as crackers, the kind of peanut butter that I really, really like, etc.). I sometimes fix some 'homemade' (not packaged microwave type) popcorn using my Presto popcorn popper (it cooks in the microwave, but doesn't contain those chemicals that everyone is talking about).

A friend of mine says that when she gets a craving, she brushes her teeth. When her mouth feels really clean, she doesn't want to 'mess' it up with food!

I grab an Ice Breakers sugar free mint and that usually does the trick, plus it freshens my breath!

You guessed it.......NF is nonfat. I also like to take just a tsp of PB (peanut butter) and as it is quite hard to get off into the pudding......I just keep it on my tsp. and dip it into the pudding......yum, and you have some high quality fat as well!!

I agree.......we have to set up new habits...and not give in right away or give in but to a low fat, low calorie substitute. I'm finidng the NF jello puddings/mousses are really quite good and it's portioned out for me, unlike a huge 1.5 quart of decadant ice cream!

Hi Klassy, this is a good one and a lot of people don't realize that drinking a glass of water and waiting at least 7 minutes will help curb that craving. Now if only I follow that rule of thumb I would have it made!

When I first feel the pangs of a craving I drink a glass of lemon water and wait 10 minute before deciding to cave in or not. Usually by then I have moved on to a non-food activity or I choose to munch on some fresh veggies or a piece of fruit. This is not always how it ends though...I have caved to my cravings on many occasion...but, I am getting better.

I love ice cream but not the regulars like vanilla, choc......no, I like the "party" kind......like birthday cake, peanut butter chocolotae fudge,anything with nuts and/or peanut buter, and they get me in trouble...right on my hips and thighs, so I am NOT buying t hose anymore unless they are small containers and not the 1.5 qt. sizes!! So I substitute either a Skinny Cow chocolate bar or Jello mousse frozen just a little in chocolate or caramel!

I haven't been able to stop cravings yet. I do try waiting them out, but I usually just end up wanting the stuff more. Not good, I know.

I am trying harder to follow a multiple small meals way of eating. It actually wasn't for losing weight, but because of my IBS and stomach aches when I drink or eat. The Oncologist said a lot of it is caused by scar tissue from my surgery and if I eat smaller amounts about 8 times a day it should help. He also thinks it will help me lose the weight and that will help with the IBS. Unfortunately, I keep forgetting to eat. I will keep trying, though. I am not too sure how I will get enough water because I was having trouble with that before.

Anyway, I think if I can get into that type of eating it might help to control my cravings.

Haven't had any. Since I dropped all refined and processed foods with sugar, flours, dairy and all sorts of unpronounceable additives. I don't eat any sugar free, fat free foods either. I haven't had breads or pasta either. I have not had a craving to this day. I just eat good natural whole foods. If I feel hungry I just grab a fruit. And I drink loads of water, and do exercise everyday. So what's a craving, do you ask?? lol

Getting and staying healthy is not an option, it's a lifestyle.

Thought we can share some of the things you might do to avoid giving in to a craving?

I grab a cold fruit flavored green tea, I do put a little agave nectar in it.
