Tigger and Michael both trying to fit into a kitten-sized cat bed... there was a cat fight before Tigger finally got the Lion's share... I wouldn't mind, but they have a bed each and one for luck... emoticon

We had an adventure on Friday and Saturday. Our cat brought a chipmunk into the house. The door was ajar because my sister was bring in groceries, so, the cat pushed the door open and meowed with the live chipmunk in her month. My sister looked and SCREAMED. The cat dropped the chipmunk, the chipmunk tried to run up the cupboard & didn't make it.
The chipmunk and the cat started a Tom & Jerry routine through the house. The critter ended up inside the couch with cat standing guard under the couch. After a while the cat grew bored and abandoned the critter. We thought the critter had left this earthly plain.

Saturday morning, I went to Water Aerobics. My sister was folding some laundry & threw a couple baskets on the couch. The critter did not like it & started running through the house again. My sister opened the door. It ran for the door but the storm door was not open enough. She tried to push the big door closed but the critter escaped to the couch again. Where was the cat on Saturday morning? Not anywhere around the living room.

My sister propped open the front big door and front storm door and the garage door with the big garage door open. Two ways to escape. She left the room and came back and now we are sure the critter has escaped. It was too much excitement for me.

Orzo likes to drink the bath water or lay in the tub after it's drained. Lately he hasn't bothered to wait until it is drained. He jumps in the tub when it is half full to get a drink. He used to jump back out when he realized there was water in it, but the last two times he just stood in there and got his drink.

Recently, too, he has started digging in his water before he will drink it.

Right now, Harleigh is sleeping on my bed pillow but she is draped on her side so that her body is on the pillow and her head is on the bed--usually she commanders the whole pillow so this is amusing to me.

I thought it was funny that when I first got Harleigh and she was happy or affectionate she would do a slow motion kneading movement and lift her feet up very high, like she was marching in place!

the funniest thing to see is bianca running on the kitchen tile. her feet go but she stays in one place as she takes off so fast she has no grip. last night she did this and accidentally ran into a small box of recycling. in true kitty style she pretended that didn't happen....

We have had Emerald for almost a year. Lately, she has started to notice my curly hair which is often wild. Last night, when I was sitting on the sofa, she climbed up and started kneading on my head. Then she sat down and started purring. I was supposed to be going out to buy dinner for our family but couldn't because her claws were partly dug into my head! It didn't hurt but it would if I moved!

Eventually, she got off my head. When my husband got home, I was just getting ready to go out. I had to explain to him that I couldn't go out because the kitty was sitting on my head!

Oh, that is not nice of Ember to complain about all your efforts. You are trying, after all.

Orzo really hated Cassie (dog) when I got her. Recently he started walking up to her in the bathroom and sniffing noses, then washing her ear. Now he will walk in and walk straight up to her and start washing her face. She has a nice, white Bentley (white mark on her forehead) now because he has completely cleaned it the last two days. When we go to bed he also walks over to the head of the bed to check that Cassie is curled up on her bed sleeping nicely, then checks on me, then goes to bed. Most recently it has been on my side (on top of me, not next to).

Probably the funniest thing Ember has done is the reason I refuse to exercise to any sort of workout video at home (aside from the fact that I'm a total klutz and can't keep up).

I had gotten a workout video included with some books I bought and I decided to try it one morning. I watched the whole thing first just to try to figure out the moves and rhythm. My husband got up so I made him breakfast and he settled down in his chair in the living room to eat it. I moved the coffee table out of the way and warned him sternly that he better not laugh at me trying to do this workout video, I know I'm a klutz and have no rhythm.

So I start the video and I'm trying to keep up as they step from side to side and forward and backward and I'm totally getting out of step and starting to get frustrated when my husband busts out laughing behind me and ends up choking on a bite of egg. Of course I was absolutely livid and I turned around and gave him what for. Once he had recovered from the laughing/choking fit, he explained why he was laughing (and it didn't have anything to do with me being really bad at workout videos).

It seems that Ember had come up behind me while I was stepping and bouncing all around and she'd started yelling at me to stop. When I ignored her, she decided to take matters into her own paws and MAKE me stop. She tensed up and leaped at my back with the intent to swat me on the butt with both front paws... right as I took a big step forward. She completely missed hitting me and in embarrassment, she shot between my legs and ran into the kitchen. I was so intent on the video that I had no idea she'd just run past me. It was her failed butt-swat move that sent my husband into paroxysms of laughter and made him choke on his egg.

She doesn't even like me dancing around and singing to a song. If yelling at me doesn't make me stop, she'll stand up on her hind legs and walk toward me yelling and waving her front paws. Silly kitty!

My ticker reminds me that activity, fitness and good health are a gift I'm giving myself. How generous will I choose to be this month?

Circe loves to come on our vacations to the beach. She sits all day around the house, intent on the movements of the mice that are around the yard. Well one day my DH was out fishing. It was so early in the season he wasn't getting anything. Finally, he caught one, and decided he would let the cat have the first one. He cut it up and put it in a dish, and placed it next to her. So there she is sitting in the sun, head down in the grass, fixated on her favorite mouse noises. The suddenly she gets a whiff and turns her head towards the bowl. The sound she made was priceless - kind of like a trilling groan! My husband said that was the best fish he ever caught.

If you really want to be happy, nobody can stop you.

K, so my Matty, if I don't lock the basement door he will lay there and keep tugging at it to open it...NOT for himself but for his sister to go down...He was afraid of the basement but had no issue letting her go down..and then he would follow taking the most cautious steps down just to turn and high tail it back up...NOW he lets both his sister and our new addition into the basement...of course I have been trying to keep it locked and can hear him checking ever so often..OH ya, now his sisters do it...they are so smart.

K. one other story, Matty will also ram the bedroom door with his head and body to see if we forgot to shut it all the way...you can hear him doing it so funny.

TabbyJoy, how cute about the marshmellow!

Omg I have to pick just one?

Smudge was always up to something, one of my favorite things she did was if she got locked out of a room she would sit at the door and "knock" she would paw the door and "Ask" (not always nicely) to be let in.

She was also the only cat I've ever met that LOVED marshmellows. She would get into the pantry steal a marshmellow, run like her tail was on fire to our room and under the bed with her prize. She would growl at you if you tried to take it from her.

I've occasionally shut up one of my cats in a closet or the laundry room, but I'm paranoid about making sure I know where they are if I'm leaving the house for more than a couple of hours. I know that Maggie was shut up in my closet for an entire night one time, and I'm still not sure why she didn't meow for me to let her out. She was about three feet from where I went to bed and I would have heard her or saw her if she put her paw under the door to signal me. She just curled up on some folded jeans on the shoe rack and went to sleep, I guess.

Alice was shut up in the laundry room all night one time. I went looking for her when she didn't come in TOO EARLY to wake me up like she usually does. When I opened the door from the laundry room to the kitchen, she came rushing out and ran right past me meowing all the way. She made a beeline for the litter box. I apologized (but had to laugh). She was really telling me off as she ran past me.

Oh, that would worry me not knowing where Orzo was for that long. I went looking for him the other day and didn't see him. He used to go downstairs for 3 hour naps, but the comforter is now up here to cover up with in the chair, so he mostly stays upstairs. He did get locked in one room one day and it took a while to find him.

This isn't in the funny category but sweet category, his new fave spot is on top of the Direct TV box because it's warm. Last night I went up to him and told "Good Night Sweetie" and he was in the back of the box, wiggled to the edge and put his paw on my cheek, love him so much, he is a lot like my other cat Pippen who I lost in Aug.

I have two cats and they are such a big "help". One is usually under the sheet and the other is pulling on the sheet. When they lay down for a bit I try to get one corner on then work on another. It seems to take much longer to put sheets on the bed then it use to! LOL

That's so funny! Sometimes I come home and find every rug in the house all scrunched up and knocked every which way. Then I know my cats have been playing 'chase' through the house.

Fancyqtr, whenever I get out a comforter or blanket for cool weather, my cats think I got it out just for them. They're like 'Hey, something brand new for us to shed on. Yay!' Whatever makes them happy, though.

That's cute, Susan. Everything of mine would be broken if Orzo got in one of my cabinets. There is too much in there.

I got out a new comforter (actually have had several years) because it was cold the other morning and Orzo has decided that is about the best place to be now.

Such funny stories about the potato chips. I have another one, but this one is about BeBop. He's very quiet, and just in the last year has started to meow. He loves getting in cabinets, and a few weeks ago I had left the coffee cup cabinet open. When I went in the kitchen, there he was just laying in the cabinet. He's so gentle, he's never broken anything. I just posted the photo I took of him in the team's photo gallery:

My friend told me that one of her cats used to eat Fritos. She and her DH were watching TV one night and had a plate of chips on the coffee table. A little black paw reached up and took a Frito off the plate and then they heard him crunching it under the table. She said he took 3 of them and that satisfied him.

That's funny! The first cat I had used to love to lick the salt off of potato chips. I would set one down (I only allowed her to have one) and she would lick all of the salt off. Then she would just sit there and wait until I turned it over so that she could clean off the other side. She would then just walk away and not try to eat the chip at all. Cats!

I was talking to a friend today and remembered something my first cat used to do. He was a barn cat where I used to keep my horse. We had one of those old chest pop machines and would often stand by it eating lunch, which included potato chips. Tipsy (from the white tip on his tail, not drunk) would sit on the machine watching us eat. He would wait until we were just about to put the potato chip in our mouths and then swat the chip from between our hand and our mouth. Never hit the person, just the potato chip.

Lady Krissy sounds adorable! I totally agree with the 'no plastic bags' thing. Alice ignores them, but Maggie May will eat the handles off of grocery bags. I have to constantly check to make sure that I haven't left any around. If there aren't any grocery bags around, she'll try to chew on the end of the bread wrapper (so I have to tuck it under the bag) or sandwich bags. I found that if she can't find plastic, she'll sometimes nibble on the end of the toilet paper on the roll. I don't have a way of hiding that away, so I have to drape a folded washcloth over it on the spindle to hide it. That seems to work so far.

Hmmm, funny thing one of my cats did: I already reported on Alice, but one time when I was fixing their supper (they get so excited), I was bending down to get their dishes out of the bottom cabinet. Just as I opened the bottom cabinet door, Maggie decided to zoom across the kitchen towards the 'feeding area'. Bonk! She slammed right into the open door! I was worried that she was hurt, but she didn't seem to have any lasting results (her plastic-eating habit was already there, so this incident didn't trigger it or anything). Once I knew that she was okay, I laughed and laughed--it was just like a comedy sketch.

We bend over backwards to accommodate Lady Krissy. She sleeps on the bed with us at night and during the winter months she will snuggle under the blankets with my hubby. Only time she does this. During the day she sleeps in specially made beds that are fur lined to help keep her warm. She was the first Munchkin we bought for our breeding program many years ago...she is 10 now...and soon discovered her several problems that caused us to take her out of the show rings and to stop using her as a breeder. She gets x-rayed once a year to keep a check on her hips and knees. When she indicates to us that she is in pain we will do the humane thing for her. I will not have her living her life being stuffed with pills just to keep her comfortable...to me that is not a quality life.

Orzo has been playing with a tennis ball lately. He rolls over on his back and hooks his claws into the ball on his way over. Then he will bat the ball against the wall. He seems to really enjoy that tennis ball.

I also just found out he likes Chinese food as I apparently spilled some fried rice on my shirt (I am trying to use chop sticks).

That's so sad to hear. I was watching "My Cat from Hell" a few weeks ago (old episode as I tape them) and there was a cat who had something else plus hip displaysia, and could barely walk. I'm glad she does good in the warm months.

We have a little cripple girl named: Lady Krissy. She has luxating patella and hip displaysia, during the winter months it is hard for her to get around. But, when it is warm and she is feeling good she will come out of the master bedroom to roam the rest of the house. While out she loves to play with her little jingle balls. She will start off by gently pawing them around then as she gets going she will hop around and chase them...she looks like a little rabbit with all the hopping she does! emoticon

Susan -- Our cat Dracula just did this very thing a few days ago...only with an empty plastic bottled water wrapper. When I caught him his poor little heart was pounding so hard...I held him for a long time while he calmed down. Plastic is such a huge danger for our little fur-babies. I lost a very sweet boy due to him eating plastic of any kind...he was a very big boy and could jump up onto the counters and table..so keeping plastic from him was very hard. I would bring in the groceries and place them on the floor while I went out to get more and come back in only to find him eating the plastic bags...went to putting them on the counter...same thing would happen. With grocery stores "going green" I have taken advantage of this by buying some of the cloth grocery bags just to keep from having so much plastic in our home.

It wasn't funny to her, and a bit scary, but it was still funny. Izzy got her head stuck in the handle of a plastic bag and ran through the house like the emoticon was chasing her. I finally caught her and now don't leave ANY plastic bags around. Also a warning to others to keep your plastic bags away from your cats.

Rocky is a mighty huntress. She brings me birds, mice, voles, moths and once a worm on a regular basis. She doesn't - yet - eviscerate them and leave them for me.

But occasionally, as if she thinks I need help as a provider, she brings me her kills...while I am eating and drops them on my plate. emoticon

Apparently she thinks I am not eating enough protein and she's trying to help. She's thoughtful like that. Either that or she understands reciprocity and is paying me back for sharing pieces of shrimp and chicken with her when I cook.

One of our kittens during our breeding days jumped up onto a jacket that was hanging on the back of my rocker and started kicking the back of the rocker making herself swing while fighting the jacket. She did this for about 30 minutes! I have one still picture of her hanging from the jacket. emoticon

I'm sure I can think of lots of things when I have a few minutes, but I'll start with this one:

One day, I was sitting on the couch watching TV and had a fan that was on a pedestal next to me with the fan on 'high'. One of my cats, Alice, was sitting on the arm of the couch between me and the fan. Suddenly, she sneezed and the fan blew it all on me! I had to laugh though, and 'scolded' her for getting her 'kitty crud' on me.

-Toranaga (Tori--the cat in my photo) used to shut himself in the bathroom. He could get in, but could never get out! We'd be doing our thing in the studio or watchign TV, and I'd hear "thunk". I'd get up and ceremoniously go and open the door, and he'd be sitting there like, "Look what I can do!" :P

-When I first got a Scat Mat for my couch, Fujiko went to jump on the sofa one time. She was on the arm, and I just sat watching as she jumped onto the sofa, felt the mat, and shot straight up in the air, her eyes really wide. It was the funniest thing I have ever seen, but unfortunately, I did not get video of it (and of course, the Scat Mat doesn't actually injure them.)

My cats delight me every day. I could watch them for hours.

I may have told this story before but I still laugh when they do it.
KoKo is all boy and when he wants to drink from the faucet in the bathroom sink he gets up there and I turn on the water and he just gets down into the sink and laps at the water, getting it up his nose and water on his face. Doesn't seem to bother him at all.

But then CeCei, my little girl, will wait until KoKo is done. Then she gets up there and will only sit on the edge of the sink and reach over with her paw and place it in the water stream and then lick her paw. She is too much of a "lady" to just stick her head in it!!! LOL

Finish each day and be done with it. You have done what you could. Some blunders and absurdities no doubt crept in; forget them as soon as you can. Tomorrow is a new day; begin it well and serenely and with too high a spirit to be cumbered with your old nonsense.

Orzo will just meow suddenly and take off running down the hall. He seems to be just calmly sitting somewhere when he will do that.

My last cat loved my dogs Annie and Ben (and hated Annie's pups). One day Ben was chasing her down the hall in a game of tag. The next thing I knew, Ben was coming back down the hall with April chasing him. They also slept together.

My first cat was a barn cat. He used to watch us eat lunch and when we would have potato chips he would wait until we got them just about to our mouths and then bat the potato chip away. He never hit any person, but we lost a lot of chips.

I was watching Lily (my tuxedo) yesterday playing with the light laser, and she went to jump up on the coffee table, missed, did a flip and was turned facing me. She looked confused, ran off embarrassed, and I couldn't stop laughing. She is always doing something funny. I did try to tell her, I was sorry for laughing and she wasn't having any of it.
