Prayer To Conquer The Spirit Of Fear
By Kimberly Taylor
I am so mad right now. I just spoke to a dear friend who is combating the spirit of fear and anxiety. She is a strong woman of God who knows the word. And yet, fear is threatening to take away her peace and joy. I felt righteous indignation that the enemy would dare to mentally attack this precious lady!
I believe the increase of fear is not a coincidence among the saints of God. We have a real enemy who is out to steal, kill, and destroy us. If we are not careful, we can allow fear permission to mentally torment us. We must take authority over fear, being ruthless in slicing it out of our lives using the Sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.
Jesus warned that in the last days, the love of many would grow cold because wickedness would abound (Matthew 24:12). When you focus on the lawlessness, offense, and instability in the world, you naturally become more fearful.
Then your mind starts to focus on "What if..."
"What if I lose my job?"
"What if we lose our house?"
"What if I never get married?"
"What if my husband leaves me?"
"What if this is cancer?"
But Jesus never told us to focus on "What ifs." Instead, he told us to focus on "Let not":
"Peace I leave with you, My peace I give to you; not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid" John 14:27.
If you are born again, then Jesus has given you the gift of His peace. Your job is to guard your heart every moment so that it is not troubled and afraid. I have to remind myself of that often! Failure to do that can result in God's word being choked in your life and becoming unfruitful.
Ask yourself, "Even if my worst fear came true, do I believe that I can handle it with God's help?" You can do all things through Christ who strengthens you!
The antidote to fear is love: "There is no fear in love; but perfect love casts out fear, because fear involves torment. But he who fears has not been made perfect in love (1 John 4:18)."
Meditating on Jesus' perfect love for you casts out fear. It gives you confidence and strength to face life's challenges. So here is a prayer to combat fear:
"Gracious Heavenly Father,
Oh how you love me! I rejoice in Your love for me. You sent Your Son Jesus to die for me and there is no greater love than this. Perfect me in Your love, Lord. I open up my heart to You so that You can bring restoration and heal everything within me that is broken. Break up any stony places in my heart; clear out any weeds and thorns around my heart that would choke the word and prevent me from bearing fruit for Your glory!
In the name of Jesus, I rebuke every spirit of fear and anxiety that tries to influence my mind. I take every thought captive to the obedience of Jesus Christ. From now on, fearful and anxious thoughts no longer have a dwelling place inside of me. I evict them in the name of Jesus. I command them - Now go; walk out the door. Just turn around now. You're not welcome anymore!
My mind is being renovated into the mind of Christ. I am diligent to meditate on those things that are true, noble, just, pure, lovely, good report, virtuous and praiseworthy things. I am thankful Lord, that you have given me power, love, and a sound mind. By faith, I operate in that sound mind today, receiving the courage, peace, joy, and strength that can only come from you."

Take Back Your Temple
"Beloved, I pray that you may prosper and be in health, just as your soul [mind, will and emotions] prospers" (3 John 1:2 NKJV).
