HI HG!

I've always been on a synthetic t4 or T4 & T3 combination.

My concerns about a medication harvested from an animal source played a large part in my decision to stay away from the Porcines.

But that's me... luckily in this country we have freedom of choice.

That said... your weight gain on either synthetic (synthroid ) or porcine (armour) thyroid meds may or may not be related to the medication you are on.

Especially if you've made a change in your diet, exercise, sleep, or living situation in the last 4 years.
Or if you entered perimenopause or worse, menopause, ha at the same time as your thyroid medication change!

In any case, I think its a super idea to test out your theory and give another medication a try.

Lots of people do just fine on Synthetics(t4) alone, others may need some Cytomel (t3).
You may have a bit of fatigue at first, bc your cells are going to have to start making their own T3 from the prohormone t4, bc Synthroid doesn't contain premade t3 as Armour does.

Keep us posted1
Be well...

Hi,

I think it's purely individual. For me I switched to Armour from Synthroid because I was not losing weight. Not that it worked, because it did not! But my fatigue was improved.

Good luck and let us know how it goes.

I know this is not the popular vote but I have 2 reasons I am doing it
1) Financial - thanks to my Insurance company - they will no longer cover it so I end up paying $100.00 a month :/
2) since being on Armour over the last 4 yrs I have gained 30 pounds. Prior I was on Synthroid and I wasn't gaining anything :(

Has anyone else ever done this flip flop?
