MsBlum,

Nope, checked out the site you shared. While it's a great site, it's not the one. I filed it, just the same but the one I am referring to talked about how fillers can affect the absorption of the thyroid medication. It went into quite a bit of technical detail, explaining it all, as I remember. Certainly not a casual mentioning of the fact.

It may be another site on stopthethyroidmadness, I dunno. I thought it was About.com but maybe not!!!

Thanks for trying!!!! We'll figure it out, yet. I think it's good info for the reformulation argument. That's why I want to find it.

MsBLUM,

Just thought I'd chime in to tell you my joint pain of many years went away once I started ARmour. My adult acne/rosacea went away, too! LIke permanently! Forgot to tell you guys that. I struggled with that for years, as well.

Good luck with the Naturethroid. Don't forget to get back to us once you see how it goes for you.

Maybe that article was on the thyroid madness site. Could very well be.

Saund, I have read that article as well (that you are talking about) and I can't find it either! It's lost in cyberspace or something. IF I come across it, I will post.

Anyway, I have only been on Armour since the beginning of May and noticed a HUGE difference in how I felt over Synthroid. It was like night and day. My depression and feelings of being overwhelmed all the time went away and as the doc increased my dosage, all my other symptoms were going away as well. I was aware of the reformulation but didn't have any problems until I got my last refill (after another dosage increase) and all the pain, sleepiness, irritability, etc started coming back. I also gained like 4 pounds in one week - YIKES. I had some of the old meds and went back to them and started feeling better again (obviously they were the old formulation) and had my Walgreens call around to get another refill for me in the old stuff. I see my doc on Friday and will be asking for a script for Naturethroid because I do not want to go down that road of horribleness again!

I have not lost my mind - it's backed up on a disc somewhere...

For the member looking for information on Canadian dessicated thyroid, here is the URL thyroid.erfa.net/ . It looks like it is possible to get it outside of Canada, too, but I haven't done anything with that.

After reading some of the comments on Stop The Thyroid Madness.com I realize that I am having heart palpitations and sweats that are different from hot flashes ... which I actually had under control

Well, at least I'm pretty darn sure it was an About.com article. I would say 90% sure.

No, the link you shared is not the one (but I did file it for future reference, thanks). The one I am looking for is an About.com article by Mary Shommon. Yes, the article was very specific about the different fillers and the effects they have on different people. It was a good one.

I knew it! I haven't had a problem getting my 60 mg Armour, but I immediately noticed that it didn't have the intense "armour" smell, it didn't dissolve the same way and there is no sweet taste to it. I called my pharacist and they sworn there was nothing different. I knew there was!

I'm not having any side effects, but that might be because I still have some of my old Armour left and I use it for my mid-day 30 mg dose. (I'm taking 2-1/2 gr overall).

Here is what folks are having to say on Stop The Thyroid Madness.com www.stopthethyroidmadness.com/2009/0

Saund? When I run into these questions and I haven't remembered to bookmark the page then I google it by typing my questions straight out how do fillers affect absorption in thyroid meds...sometimes it doesn't work but it's worth a shot. Tried it this time to no avail but maybe it's my search engine of preference too. Is this though the link you were looking for? I think it isn't....the one I believe you're looking for specifically mentions about 5 common fillers and their effect right?

My daughter and I have had trouble getting 90s and 120s. I take a 90 every other day and a 120 every other day. When they're out of 90s I could take a 60 and a 30 or 3 30s, and when they're out of 120s I take 2 60s- no cutting! They only problem is that every time they run out of something, and you have to do combos, you have to have your dr. call in the prescription that way.

I didn't realize Armour had been reformulated. I've started losing my hair a lot, and am going to get rechecked. I'll ask my dr. about the new formula- thanks for the info!

MSTINKERBELL~
You are right, the Armour crumbles when you try cutting them in half no matter how careful we are! When Medco told my doctors office that they would send me 180 mg. and I could cut them in half, my doctor actually got on the phone with their pharmacist and said "No, the pills do not cut well and the dosage would be inaccurate." Besides, when I ran out of my 90 mg. once before I tried cutting my husband's 180 mg. in half - no good, there were little pieces that broke off.
This week I am leaving to go out of town for 3-4 weeks, and I am hoping someone can get the Armour dosge in that I need.
Someone previously mention that "some" people are having problems with the newly formulated Armour, I hadn't heard that, and I personally haven't noticed any changes. That is why I asked "what problems"?

Hippiegirl,

No, the links you shared are not the ones I had in mind. It was an article explaining how different fillers can affect absorption. It was not testimonials.

Thanks, anyway. I read Purrballs comments and read her links but I may have clicked on a related link at the bottom of the page and found it. I know I went back to Purrball's note to me and clicked on her links, again, and couldn't find it. NUTS!!

The About.com article explained it really well. I'd like to have it to read again. Can't find it!!!

I can't get the 90mg either. Pharmacy has me taking a 60mg and cutting another in half to get the other 30mg. Cuts terrible by the way! Which is probably going to throw my dosage off the way it loses some in the cutting (turns partly to powder, not a clean cut)!

My husband is on 180 mg. of Armour and has been for 1 year, so far no problems. My Armour rx was moved up to 90 mg.(from 60 mg.) in March, and I haven't had any problems either.
If people were having problems with the new Armour, what specifically were the issue's? Just curious.

Would someone please share the link to an ABOUT.COM article about how different fillers effect absorption of the thyroid med. I remember reading it. I can't remember if I got the link from Purrball or someone else but, looking back, I can't find it.

Thanks!

Wal-mart can't get any Armour. The change in formul did something to the pills. Everyone I know has had very BAD side effects happening to them. Saundrella has more on it. I switched from Armour to Nature-throid. It's doing a good job so far. No side effects to it.

Yep, for sure.....I'm on 90 mg., and both places are out of 90 mg. So, they thought they'd give me 30 mg. + 60 mg., but alas, they are out of the 30 mg. Walgreen's even called around, no luck.
No problem, I have enough to get me through the week, and hopefully we'll have them by then.
You're right about the change in dosages though, the one pharmacist said something about reformulating the Armour, and introducing new(?) dosages, and that they underestimated the supply & demand still for the 30 mg and 90 mg.

Not 100% positive but they have been reformulating and I'm thinking maybe that's the size they're working on now. Boy, wonder if they will keep going the way folks are complaining.

Is anyone else having problems finding Armour Thyroid in 90 mg. or the 30 mg.in stock?
Medco, who our insurer uses to fill prescriptions, had to back order and at present is out of both of those dosages. So, my insurer said I could get my rx filled locally, but even Walgreen's was out of stock on the 90 mg and 30 mg. They hope to have the 30 mg. in on Monday.
Does anyone know what's going on?
