Don't get too down on your body. A lot of times when I am doing yoga and a position feels uncomfortable to me I think to myself "This is what my body can to today, if I keep it up tomorrow my body will be able to do more" This thought has helped me countless times.
Good luck with zumba!

What a great story with a happy ending!!

Well, I do know what it is not to want to move. I was 296, which although isn't 380 but it came with it's own challenges. I would stay in bed all day long and not leave on my days off. I didn't clean house at all because I didn't want the reminder of how big I was.

But when I started moving, I used my zumba wii and ea active. I started doing 20 - 40 minutes a day. I just started small.

I know some of how you feel. I always felt like I was bumping into people, was always afraid I wouldn't fit into a chair, hating my stomach bumping into counters, and so ... I would just go to bed where none of that would happen.

I'm really glad you talked to your husband and that he is being so supportive.

I hope you love zumba! I do.

Good for you for your communication. I agree that unless you find a cardio activity that you really like it is difficult for self-motivation. Hope the zumba goes well.

I understand not being able to tell dh - or to admit you are struggling. My husband is much healthier - not to mention skinnier than I am. He never struggled with his weight and he just thinks "just don't eat that" and "exercise is wonderful and everyone should do it." So - admitting that I wasn't motivated or that I craved things from time to time just wouldn't work. He still doesn't understand it at all - but he was raised in a home where dessert was fruit after every meal. They only ate cake or any treats on very special occasions. It is not easy. Because of that - you really should feel good about being able to break down and tell him. That is a step in the right direction.

Don't always feel that cardio has to be boring - or that it has to kill you. At first - take it slow and do whatever you can. I read a very motivational post a while ago from someone on SparkPeople - and she lost a LOT of weight. She actually would go to Walmart and push the cart all through the store. When she felt that was too easy - she started loading her cart with Kitty Litter. As that got too easy - she loaded it with more. She was such an inspiration - and she didn't use any fancy videos or buy any expensive equipment.

Just walking is great exercise for us. Try to walk a little the first day - as much as you can manage. Try that for a few days and then see if you can go longer - or faster. Take it slow - in baby steps - and it will get easier. Most importantly - when you reach those small goals - make sure you don't beat yourself up for not climbing a mountain. No one expects that of you - and neither should you. You have to take it slow - and just keep building up what you try to do. You can do this - and I'm so glad I can share this journey with you.

I am rooting for you - and hoping you find some activity - even walking in your neighborhood or in a park - that you truly love.

I agree with all the posts about how great it is that you asked for help and that your and your DH communicate so well that he understood what you needed.
It took me a long time to find a physical activity that I loved.... I finally realized it is only when you look forward to whatever activity you have chosen that you have found the right one and will stick with it.

Asking for help is difficult but is a sign of strength not weakness. Glad you were able to ask your husband for help.
I hope you enjoy zumba. I found when i finally tried it that i loved it. We each like different things though just keep going and keep trying new things and you will find what you like!
You can do this!!!

emoticon I'm so happy for you that you asked for help! And so proud of you that you did so much exercise last month! To me, that is amazing!!! When I was 300 pounds, I could not have done that! I did a little bit each day and gradually worked my way up to being able to do 30 minutes, but it took me a long while. I was so uncomfortable trying to exercise. I hope you realize the feat you accomplished last month!! Keep taking good care of yourself! You're sooooo worth the effort!!!

That is awesome. I know how hard it can be to ask for help. It's wonderful you have such a loving hubby there for you. He's trying to help. I sure hope you enjoy the Zumba videos. A friend of mine loves yoga too. It looks so passive, but you can burn calories doing it as well. Just my two bits. Something you may enjoy.

Take care of you. You can't help others if you don't.

I am sure everyone goes through the same thing. But, I thought I would share for some inspiration to others, if nothing else.

I have been fighting to just move. Being 380 lbs, I have difficulty just cleaning house. That being said, I have begun an exercise regiment that puts me doing 30 mins of cardio 3x a week. I managed to get through it for an entire month! This month I have completely stopped all exercise and have just been very down. I absolutely loathe cardio (and I am usually a positive person).

I do not talk to anyone about my problems because that is not why I am put on this earth. I am here to be there for others! Right? Well, I finally snapped yesterday and slept most of the afternoon. I asked my husband for help in the evening, since he could tell that I was just not my usual self.

I don't try to explain the troubles I have being someone my size to him, it only makes him see me as less than who I am. So, I found the words I needed last night to ask for help without getting pity or disgust. He is buying me zumba videos to try!

I am now looking forward to trying a new type of cardio and I have not given up on me!
