I also have enjoyed several of Matthew Kelly's books. I'm currently working on two right now--Rediscovering Jesus and I can't remember the name of the other-- ;)

Interesting topic. I have not read either of the authors mentioned, so I do not feel qualified to give a response about them.

I am enjoying Matthew Kelly's books right now.

I've watched their shows on cable (Meyers, Olsteen) and have found a lot of insight in their comments. When I watch the 700 Club it makes me happy that the Catholics are not the only ones doing serious mission work overseas, and also embrace traditional marriage, and are pro-life. I agree with Shapnup. If you are secure in your belief system, and refer to a Catholic bible as opposed to a Protestant one, you're good to go.

No problem. I'm surprised you haven't heard from anyone else. Maybe they don't listen to either of the people you mentioned.

Have a great evening.

I have read both Joel Osteen and Joyce Meyer. In fact, I have several of Joyce's CD series on different topics. I don't agree with everything these people say and believe, but in my opinion they love God, have common sense, are practical and have helped me in my journey to holiness. There are Catholics I can't say that about. As long as I am secure in my faith and know what the Church teaches, and am careful not to get caught up in any other religion's dogmas and doctrines, I think it's fine to explore other Christians. And I don't believe I have heard any Pope condemn Christian speakers, authors, etc. that aren't Catholic. You will always find opinions pro and con for every topic under the sun. Pray, use your best judgment, and don't worry too much about what others say. Great topic for discussion. Thanks for bringing it up.

I have a question about the other ministers in our lives. Joyce Meyer to be exact. I have read different forms where other Catholics call her a false prophet. Where does the Catholic Church stand when it comes to authors like Joyce and Joel Olsteen?

I have read a few of their books and they real shed some light in my life. I want to continue reading, but after reading a few forums (not on SP) I am hesitant.

TIA
