Hi everyone.
Hope everyone is enjoying the beginning of Spring.
I was finally able to bathe the cat, shampoo my grandchildren's play room, mow the grass, use the weed whacker and whack those weeds, then pulled 1/2 the weeds in my front rock, saves some for next weekend. I still had to spend money. emoticon I also had time to relax. I felt like I had a weekend. For some reason this past weekend was just extra long. I am thankful for that. I wish every weekend would seem longer rather than shorter.

Ann: I know what you mean about needing to schedule time to do things.
I am glad to hear that you are making things work for you. I am also glad to hear that your boy friend is closer to you.

The update on my mom is that she is home. I am continuing to pray for comfortable living for her. I know that the road ahead is not going to be an easy one. I would like it to be as painless and stress free as possible.

I must go. My cat is trying to climb on my computer. Must be trying to send me a message of some sort. emoticon

Each day is a new day! Remember to breath and relax!

So, things are becoming more easier to manage. I am getting use to the "real" world now, and am better able to stay organized and use my time wisely. I've found that I need to plan almost everything to a T and to be really efficient during the day. I actually had to schedule time to post on SP. But, I will try to do so more regularly, as I see that I have been missing so much.

Update:

My boyfriend got a job andddd it's closer to me (about 20 minutes from where my mom works)!!!! Yay!!! Right now, we live about 200 miles away from each other (about 3 hours). So, I'm extremely thankful and excited. God is really working things out for him and for me!

I've been walking almost everyday. I'm back to drinking only water and I've been doing well with eating mostly natural foods. I have SO MUCH ENERGY now, and I just want to give back... to God, to my family, my friends, my church and THIS GROUP!! I am going to enjoy this time of joy and peace. No more worrying and unnecessary stress. God's got all things in His hands!

In about a week, I'm going to start an exercise regimen. I just want to walk for now. The weather has been so lovely, and walking gives me time to meditate and to think.

What's the key to success?

Well, after messing up time and time again, I've found the key to be based on 3 things:

1) Belief in God and in yourself
2) Keeping a Steady Pace
3) Refocusing your self and Redesigning your goals as often as needed

All the best loves!!!

Jeannie: It's great that you made the best out of your trip! Kids are so full of joy, and I'm sure that you all had a BLAST!! Your joyful/optimistic spirit is truly beautiful. Stay encouraged!! God has a way of working things out!! I will keep you and your family in prayer!

Anna, **God Strengthens Me**

I think keeping in touch in a great idea.
Support, keeping up and just saying hi how are you today?

Up date
My girls, son, and grandchildren took a road trip to see my mom. Had sisters who would not allow it, so we did not see her. On the bright side, we made the most of our trip. We turned it into a nice family outing. Had pizza, and a movie in the motel room, then had a nice drive back home. I can not let a few set backs upset my life. It is what it is. I can only pray and know that God is with me on my journey and will hold my heart in his hand. I know that my mom knew I was there and was not being let in to see her for reason that are burrowed in the heart of my younger sister.

That is all.
I am sorry for ramblings.
Hope everyone has a wonderful week. The rain was beautiful today. I had to take a picture of the down poor. Ill post one later.

Each day is a new day! Remember to breath and relax!

Hi Team;

Good the hear from you Anna, and I truly do understand how life is so busy and complicated at times.

I didn't get a chance to get any workout done today. It was raining to day, I went to Women's Life after work. I did eat well. I barely got the water intake down today.

My mom is in the hospital. She just found out she has cancer through out her body, she has a collapsed lung and pneumonia as well. Im trying to get to her but its hard when I have to work and my car is not as dependable as I would like and then there is the money.
I am praying that she be as comfortable as possible and not be in pain.
Asking for prayers for my mom and siblings to be strong enough. Thank you.
Good News is I know that God's Love is a Strong Love and a True Love. With him any Mountain can be moved. emoticon

Hello everyone!!!

I know it's been a while. Life has gotten really busy, and somewhat complicated, and I'm just trying to get the hang of things. I'm used to the college life!!

Thanks so much Jeannie and Leslie for reaching out to me!! That means a lot, and I really appreciate the both of you. I know I took a while to respond, and I apologize for that. I know that it's important to show people that you appreciate both them and their efforts. You two are truly wonderful!

I haven't gotten the chance to read through any posts yet, but I will soon. I just wanted to give an update. So, I've been doing an ALL NATURAL FOODS diet. So, I've been eating TONS of fruits and veggies, with some meat here and there. Oddly enough, I still find it difficult to get the proper amount of water intake. Before, when I only drank water, it was easier. But now, since I've started back drinking juices and sodas, it's a bit more difficult. Anyway, I'm cutting those things back out and embracing a healthier lifestyle, not just a diet.

I've been working out, A LOT. The weather outside has been so nice. Sunday, we spent a couple of hours at the park. We walked the trail, did the monkey bars and played tennis for a while. I've also been getting up early each day to do a morning walk. This is moreso for spiritual reasons, as I really need to get back in tune with God. So, I've been doing much better and I already feel so much more energy. IT'S AMAZING THAT, WHEN WE EAT RIGHT AND WALK EVEN A LITTLE BIT, HOW OUR MINDS AND BODIES RESPOND.

I hope all of you are doing well. I will read through the posts later today and try to respond by the end of tomorrow. LET'S FINISH STRONG!!!! I love you ALL and hope that you are doing well!

Anna

Hi Team
Hope everyone is enjoying the last few day of Winter. Spring is doing it's best to shine through around my house. The temperature has been nice during the day but a little chilly once the suns goes away.

March 2nd - 7th
I attempted to do the DVD, but I could not always get my computer to read the DVD, however I was still able to complete at least a 30 minute workout at least 3 days during the week.
I am going to have to buy a new DVD player, I can not depend on my computer. My husband lets me use his to play the DVD in , but then he as to start it for me. I wish that a computer could be what it was when I bought it. All the up dates change the way my computer functions.

walking the 5 miles did not happen. I can usually walk 5 miles a week easy, however, I have had a few challenges added to my life these past couple of months. So my walking will have to be on my time. I can not even walk around the play ground right now. Not possible at this time. To much going on.

Section B - Nutrition

I was able to drink between 60 and 100 ounce a day, more like 60 and 80
I had at least 3 serving of vegetables each day all week.
I did not have any fried foods, fast foods, or foods with heavy cream.

Section C - Reaching Out

I do believe that I was able to contact 3 member of the team.

I was also able to help a friend with her health goals. I didn't even know that I was doing it.
I had said I was giving up Sugar for Jesus for the month of March. She said that she was going to do that too. We both love the same things. Sugar, chocolate, yummy fun coffee, nuts and wine. We are not giving up the nuts.

Ann; I am glad to see that you got 5 miles in or almost, and reached your other challenge goals.
What you find of yourself is true of all humans. We all need serious prayer. We have emotions that like to take over. I am with you on the prayer. Guard you heart my friend.

So, I almost completed my 5 miles and I reached out to my family regarding living a healthier life style. Overall, I felt really good this week. I was able to eat 3 fruits and some veggies each day, and I drank lots of water during the second half of the week.

Well, today I did a huge self evaluation and I don't like what turned up. I'm really in need of serious prayer. I try to be loving and kind, but sometimes all the evil and negativity around me pulls me down. Even worse, sometimes I'm my own enemy. Anyway, I'm going to spend sometime away from everyone and with God. Please keep me in prayer.

How is everyone doing?! Did you all do some of the challenge?

Anna, **God Strengthens Me**

Hi everybody:
Today was a really smooth day: Work went really well. The kids started their Saint Patty's day leprechauns. They love to color, cut, glitter and glue. My granddaughter was happy just to try and knit with her rainbow colored yarn. I was able to finish one hat for my brother and put his wives hat on the needles. I am so excited to get them finished.

I made it to the gym tonight Deb had an ab workout that was really good. There was a list of 30 exercises, that were a minutes each, not sure how many we got finished in the hour, but I felt worked out when I was finished. I guess if we had to give it a name it might me 30 moves for 60 seconds in 60 minutes. emoticon

my no sugar challenge is going well, I have not reached for anything yet. I will take it one day at a time. This does not mean that I will cave in a moment of weekness, or take a day off, it just means that I am not going to say I can do this just because I have made it two days without wanting. I also know I can not sneak or hide to get this sugar.

Ann: There are a lot of fun arts and crafts that Autumn, James and I do. Some of them are messy, and they love that. Autumn loves to do what ever I do. From what I have learned about working with small children, they love to cut, color, glue, glitter, paint, and create their own master piece. Their master piece may not look like what we have in mind, but believe me, they are excited about what has been created. I do mostly open ended art projects for that reason. Sometimes I will have a project that has to follow a plan like if it is to be recognized by the Adult eye. lol.

Hi everybody!!!!

Today is the FIRST day (in what feels like forever) that I've had time to sit and relax. It has been back to back tutoring, interviews and traveling out of town!! I'm really excited for the interview that I had Friday. It's for a programming (or software developer) position, and it pays really well. Please pray for me that I'm blessed with favor and can get some type of job there. I'm ready to pay back these loans and to get a car!!!

Today, so far, I've had a banana smoothie (with 1 banana, almond milk, spinach/kale and flaxseed) and 1 apple for breakfast. I'm chugging down some water to make sure that I reach 8 cups by the end of today. I really want to get in a good workout today. I'm thinking of going outside since the weather is beginning to warm up.

For the challenge, I'm choosing the following:

A - Complete 5 miles this week.
B - Between 60 and 100 ounces daily.
C - Reach out to someone in your life who needs help with their fitness/eating habits.

I'm gonna write this down and put it on my wall. I know that I want to reach out to my family. We've all been trying to stay on top of our eating and fitness, but it's been a rollercoaster. I'm hoping that we can all work together and get this accomplished.

I wasn't able to finish last week's challenge. I was eating fried foods and heavy creams almost each day. Sometimes I feel like I'm out of control, then other times I'm right on cue. Anyway, I'm really gonna challenge myself this week and try to post within our forum often.

Leslie - Working out definitely counts towards the challenge. Everyone doesn't have fitness tapes/games, so it's cool. But good job with your workouts!! You really do put forth a strong effort!! Those sweet potato fries are still healthier than regular fries!!! lol I'm really thinking about joining L.A. Fitness. What do you think? I feel as though being in that type of environment will motivate me. However, it could backfire and make me feel self-conscious. Perhaps I should join a smaller gym? Glad to see that Nick is really pushing you. It'll definitely pay off! Great job on last week's challenge!!

Jeannie - Good job with the challenge! All the best with the X-Factor and your own personal challenge. You can do it!!! It sounds like you're getting into some fasting too. It's definitely going to make a difference! It's nice to see you getting into the arts and crafts. I know that you have students. What kinds of activities do you do with them? My aunt and I went out and got a whole bunch of arts and crafts stuff: yarn, sun catchers, ribbon, paint and brushes, paintable frames, craft felt, glitter pens, paintable door hangers, etc. I really want my younger cousin to be well rounded and not watching cartoons or playing games all of the time. What would you suggest?

Anna, **God Strengthens Me**

Hi All
My cardio/fitness challenge for march is to follow the X-Factor:ST by Weider program.
I bought it just after Christmas, and opened it up today to see how to use the program.
I am going to start today with Week 1 video.

Hope everyone is having a great weekend.

emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon
Started week 1 this evening, it was a good workout. I believe I am going to be able to accomplish my personal Challenge for March, both the fitness and what I am giving up for Jesus.
Have a great week everyone!

Hi; I did not do any tapes, like I had planned, however, I did do at least 120 minutes of exercise each day. I was able to do a 14-14-14 Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday and this morning. I am going to try and do at least one of my exercise videos form library. I have to use my computer to play them because our DVD player broke a couple of years ago.

I have done very well on no fried foods, fast foods or heavy cream. yeah me.

I think I have contacted or commented on at least 3 team members, If not, I will go do that right now.

Hope everyone is have a great day.

Just so everyone knows, I did get out of that "rabbit hole"
My vices were chocolate, wine, and mindless eating. These are my drugs. they are addicting and I do have a difficult time when I am stressed and do not realize I am stressed.

My personal challenge for March is to give something up for Jesus (not lent because I am not Catholic) It is easier for me to give it up for Jesus because there is not sneaking or hiding from Jesus. I can hide from lent, because lent is just a word to me. Jesus is much much more.

Sugar is what I will give up for Jesus for an entire month. I can still have nuts, just not any added sugar, so no sugar in my coffee, no chocolate, no ice-cream, and no wine.
there you have it.

Jesus gave his life for me so I will give up sugar for him.

Each day is a new day! Remember to breath and relax!

Section A - Fitness (Choose One. Complete a minimum of 20 mins on 3 days. Aim for 30-60 mins)
- I don't have any Workout Tapes/DVD or workout games, so I went to the gym for my usual training sessions. I also shoveled lots of snow and sang songs from Frozen. Does that count? emoticon

Section B - Nutrition
- 3 servings of vegetables

Section C - Team Participation
- Contact at least 3 team members this week. This includes inbox, posting a message on their page or blog, etc.

Thought I would be able to stay away from fried food this week, but one of our marketing reps took me to lunch. I had a black bean burger, and it was accompanied by sweet potato fries. Whooooooooooops!!

I had a really good day. I decided to run to Wal-Mart on my lunch break so I could buy some yarn for a project and I was lucky enough to walk by a huge bin with hats, gloves and scarfs . Everything .25 cents. Needless to say, I bought several for my two little grand children. My grandson loves his Super Hero gloves, just not so excited about the hat. My granddaughter loved all of her sets. I found a Saint Patty's Day shirt that says "Grandma's have all the luck. and a shirt for my little granddaughter that says Do not pinch. We go to Women's life and the gal that works there said she will be pinching those who do not wear green. I am set!

I did get a workout in today, but it was not from a CD, I just did my own, to much of a hassle to move my computer to the basement, easier to just do my own thing.

Day 2 of no fried food, fast food or heavy cream.
I am working on leaving messages.

Hope everyone is having a nice Thursday.

Hope everyone is having a good week. The weather in my town has been nice enough to be outside for at least 30 minutes at a time and longer. I still wear my jacket but I am not to cold out there.

I have made it to the gym 3 times so far this week.

I am going to try and work out with a DVD tomorrow, Friday, and Saturday. I hope my computer will read the DVD otherwise I will have to use a workout on line. Ether way I will get a good workout.

Take care everyone and stay healthy, there is a yucky virus going around. emoticon emoticon emoticon

Friday evening I decided that I wanted to do a 14-14-14 cardio.
I didn't want to over do it, so I did a low impact cardio. It still took my at least an hour and I was very sweaty when I finished. It was the first time in a week that I burned up over 2000 calories for the day and reached my 10,000+ steps, and filled up my activity tracker. I felt good when I was done.

Today, I intended to do 14-14-14 twice, but I decided to move a huge heavy desk into my granddaughter room. That was the easy part, I ended up having to move furniture around in my living room in order to move the huge heavy desk into GD room. The desk was easier to move when I tipped it upside down so I could just slide it across the floor. I had to rearrange the bedroom in order for the desk to fit nicely in her room. My grandson was over thinking he was helping do all the moving (he wasn't helping, but he was enjoyable to watch) He said he didn't get it (he is 2) My GD gets a huge desk and he gets nothing. My husband and I were amused at his lack of excitement over this desk that has had his sister really excited for the past week. She was at breakfast with her other Grandma during this big rearranging move that took me most of the day. She did come over for the very end of the clean and rearrange. She was so very excited that she was willing to help clean up the small stuff. I will post a picture of her corner and his space. We did give him her old much smaller desk. I am sure he will like it. He has not seen it yet. They went home before I put the smaller one in the room. I am counting all my cleaning as exercise. I did burn up some calories and I was at it all day with just a couple hours of a break to go shopping with my husband. I did have to eat.
Hope everyone is having a nice weekend.

On Friday evening, it was another 45 minutes strength training and 60 minutes on the treadmill. This morning I had my TRX suspension training followed by 90 minutes of cardio.

Yesterday I had a session with Trainer Nick. He told me he wasn't sure if he was pushing me hard enough, so nothing he had me do was easy. I repped out 85 pound chest presses. He even hauled out the battle ropes. By the end of 45 minutes, I was pooped, but I did manage my 60 minutes on the treadmill.

Last night, I got in a really good strength workout.

1. Push Ups
2. Squats
3. Sit Ups
4. Tricep Dips
5. Backward Lunges
6. Torso Twists
7. Bicep Curls
8. Bicycle Crunches
9. Chest Press
10. Supermans

I didn't over do it, but I did take my time with these exercises. They were complemented with a 5 min warm up and 5 min cool down. I've only done 1 cardio workout this week (2 if you count some walk and house chores). I want to try to get in another workout today. If it weren't FREEZING outside, I could go jogging, which is what I'm really aching to do. But who knows, I have to go to tutor near Piedmont park today, so maybe I'll be able to run on the trail!!!

Have an AWESOME day everyone!

I stayed in the house today. It has been freezing all week, but today was the cherry on top. Anyway, I did some tutoring with my younger cousin and reviewed my sister's resume. Yesterday, I did a cardio/strength combo workout! It was intense and my legs are still killing me, so I'm gonna take today off and workout again tomorrow.

I ended up cooking dinner tonight for the family: Steamed tilapia and fried tilapia, with honey glazed carrots, mixed vegetables and cinnamon rolls. Everything was yummy! And I think, like Lilorita, I need 2 more cups of water to satisfy my intake for today.

I had plenty of veggies today. I could have done more fruit but I kinda forgot about it. I plan to eat only unprocessed foods tomorrow. We'll see how it goes.

Leslie - Okay. I see that you do a bit of multitasking when working out. But it is true that it's a more intense workout also when you focus on two muscle groups at once! I will definitely try it! (Esp. the chest presses with bridges) Btw, you are NOT going to be cripple in the least! You are too active! About your boss and the nasty emails, I think it's good for you to try to be kind even if he is not. Believe me when I say that people's evil ways will change you if you let them. CHOOSE to be kind and loving, and perhaps it'll change him. And if not, in the least it will give you peace within yourself!! All the best!

Lilorita - Heyyyyy!!!! lol It's great seeing you on here! Great job on your workout! I rarely do an hr but I want to start back. I did an hr yesterday and it felt great! However, I am definitely feeling the after affects. Keep pushing!!! You got this!! Hope you're able to get back into your routine!!!

I am getting back to my routine, today I walked for 60 minutes and did some indoor cycling for 15 minutes, so far I have taken 4 glasses of water and still counting and had 2 servings of fruit/veggies. Looking forward tomorrow

I completed 45 minutes of strength training last evening, and they included a 5 minute wall sit and a set of 50 pound dead lifts. I need to work harder on my planks, because I couldn't get to 2 minutes. My arms gave out before my abs. Go figure. Anyway I also ground out 60 minutes on the treadmill. Since I'm a bit sore this morning, I'm going to take it easy this evening or maybe not. We'll see how I feel. emoticon

Hi everyone!!!

Here are the challenges I plan to complete.

Section A
- Complete 3 cardio workouts this week.
- Complete 2 strength workouts this week.

Section B
- Enjoy at least 2 servings of vegetables each day.

Section C
- Post on the team wall OR thread at least 3 days this week.

Bonus challenge - Stop exchanging nasty emails with my boss. He doesn't follow email etiquette and will capitalize entire words, add multiple question marks and exclamation points, and be overly confrontational. He can make me so mad! I've told him I'm doing this for Lent, so he said we can go at it big time today. Sigh.

Anna - When I strength train, I use machines, weights, resistance bands, kettle bells, and body weight exercises. When I do chest presses at home, I like to bridge at the same time. I'll get on my back holding a dumbbell overhead and do sit ups. When you do two things at once, it's a more efficient workout and adds variety. I also do structured workouts in classes and work with a personal trainer. On Saturday, it's TRX, and Sunday it's Team Training. I love, love, REALLY love TRX, enjoy working out with my Team Training group, and have fun in my training sessions with Nick. Whenever I'm at the gym, I include at least an hour of cardio. The treadmill can be tedious, but I get a lot of reading done. I've said it before, but it's always worth saying again; I don't want to end up a crippled old lady.

For me, eating 2 vegetables a day is easy lol So I'll stick with the hydration (which means I need to squeeze in 1.5 more cups of H2O). I wasn't able to complete last week's challenge. I was dealing with a lot in my personal life, and I kinda still am. But God is good and I'm much better! Hoping to knock this challenge out of the park!!!

Here's what I chose to work on this week:

WEEKLY CHALLENGE 5 - Complete one activity from Sections A, B and C below
(Feb. 15th- 21st)

Section A
- Complete 3 cardio workouts this week.

Section B
- Hydrate your body with at least 6 cups of water each day.

Section C
- Post on the team wall OR thread at least 3 days this week.

Me and my bf went out for V-Day and I ordered a healthy option. I had grilled chicken with seasoned vegetables and fried rice (not so healthy, but still good). My drink was a water with lemon and I had sushi as an appetizer. (It was my FIRST time having sushi, and I LOVED IT! It was a salmon wrap thingy lol) Now, I'm a HUGE fan of cheesecake, but I actually didn't order any this time. Then the waitress asked if I wanted to try it and I said NO! After she insisted, I gave in! By God's grace, all of it was frozen, so I took that as a sign! lol

Jeannie - Great job on not getting bread at your dinner!!! Yay!! lol I completely get where you're coming from with the bread cravings. I get them too and I have no idea how to stop it. Sometimes, I just eat some raisin bran or oatmeal, but other times I just want bread! lol It's great that you've still been able to manage your weight. That's commendable! All of the workouts that you do really make a difference!

Leslie - Great job on you and Jeannie completing the challenge. Unfortunately, I was unable to. Great job on your workout also! What kind of strength training do you do for so long? Is it mostly with machines? Do you do a lot of body weight workouts? That's really good for toning and sculpting! And don't worry, kittens are the PURR-fect valentines!! lol P.S. Thanks for the recipe!

Kathy - It's good to hear that things are getting better for you! You may post the challenges that you choose to do on your tracker if you'd like. However, things have become a bit less formal, so just try to post here whenever you get the chance! I'm glad that you'll be able to do some of this week's challenge. Also, it's really amazing that you've still been doing a lot of working out!! That's really wonderful, and it also means that I have no excuse!!! As far as eating goes, I'm totally with you! Sometimes I lose control and others I stay on track. But you're absolutely right about the scale. Learn to appreciate your NSV's (non-scale victories). Notice your new energy level, or definition in a certain area, or strength. If it weren't for this challenge, I'd probably only weigh in every 2 weeks. But I stay away from the scale bc I don't want to get discouraged. I hope that you'll get the chance to drop in some more this week! It is truly a pleasure to hear from you!

Have not been on here much lately. Life is starting to calm down a little now. Not sure where to post what challenges I am doing this week. They do seem pretty easy for me this week. I am still running every day, and have been since Thanksgiving. I have also bumped up my workouts and am doing a strength class twice a week, spinning twice a week, and zumba twice a week.

I still need to work on my diet. Even with doing all that working out, I am still not really seeing much weight loss. It would be frustrating, but I have learned that it is just a number and I am getting heathier and stronger even if it is not showing on the scale.

Hope to try to connect more this week. I am going to do the 3 Cardio for the week, and the 2 serving of vegetables. Did not pick the water as that is easy, because I already drink about 10 glasses of water a day.

Team Training was today, so I did 45 minutes of strength training. I also spent 75 minutes on the treadmill, and that makes me a true glutton for punishment. I made Southwest Black Bean Soup and will post the recipe tomorrow. emoticon

My kitties are my Valentines, so there was a lot of purring. emoticon

I hope everyone had a wonderful Valentines Day. My husband took me out to dinner. I ordered salmon, fried rice and vegies and a salad. It was so delicious. No BREAD! I did have some nuts and chocolate and wine. I love these things and I do enjoy them.
I also love to workout. I feel so much better after a good cardio workout.
Have a great evening everyone.

Hi Team:
Ann: I am there with you on the too many snacks today. Yikes. I had two and 1/2 beagles. and other snacks. I have been having powerful cravings for bread and I can not seem to overpower the craving and so cave to the bread. I had to do some thinking about why I am having these cravings for foods that I can usually say just a little bit to and then move on. I came to the realization that it began about 2 months ago and slowly got stronger. We got two new students within the past few months an it has been really stressful and very rough. Food has been my calm. Now that I know that, I can start to address it. The good thing is that I love to workout. I have been able to keep my weight off and loose a pound here and there. Sometimes I gain, and then make sure I do a heavy cardio.

Leslie; I am so happy to be your partner. I like the cardio and you like the weights. I really like that you post your recipes. Mine are usually just fresh vegies, fruits, and cold cuts. I am not to adventurous in the kitchen. Sometimes I attempt to be creative.

The funny for today is TMI and comes from my 2 year old grandson. He pooped his pants and then asked me if he gets 10 points. I told him no you do not get any points for pooping your pants. He asked how about 7 points. I answered trying very hard not to laugh No you do not get any points at all for pooping in your pants. He said AWE Okay

I love it when he and his sister are at my house. They are my sunshine.

Each day is a new day! Remember to breath and relax!

Today was uneventful. I spent most of the day with my sister though, so it was enjoyable. Unfortunately, I ate a lot of snacks today, so I'll have to eat really healthy for the next couple of days.

I haven't tracked my fitness this week, so I'll try to do so tomorrow. I'm hoping finish up the weekly challenge tomorrow. It may honestly be too much for me to keep up with, but I will surely try!

My fitness goals are completing a five-minute plank, a five-minute wall sit, and a dead lift of 100 pounds. Last night, I did a four-minute wall sit. emoticon

Although I can hold a two-minute forearm plank, I'm not so good at side planks. I've managed forty, but my form was less than stellar. Thankfully, I'm paired with Jeannie because she's ready, willing, and able to do fifty. You go girl!!!

So, I've been MIA for the past couple of days! I've been going from job interviews to job fairs and have been on the road driving for a total of 10 hours. I was able to get the job at Kohl's, but they only pay $7.74/hr, so I don't think I will accept it. I was also offered a position as a Mathematics Adjunct Professor, so I'm now considering that. I don't want to be too hasty because I got a lot of good responses from recruiters at yesterday's job fair, so I'll apply to some of those positions and see what happens!! Please pray for me!

Well, due to my busy days, I will be squeezing a lot of this week's challenges into these next 3 days. Thankfully, I did complete a about 1/2 of the mileage on Sunday and Monday. Today, I'm gonna kick things up with a nice strength and cardio workout!!! FULL BODY!!!!!!!!!! lol This will be tough, but it must be done!!!

Hi: Tonight I went to my lift class, I am sure I will be sore tomorrow. We did several squats.
I will get to the side planks tomorrow after work. This has been a very busy week. I haven't been able to keep up with my personal monthly challenge everyday, but am satisfied just knowing I am not brushing it off.

I have been eating veggies and fruits, but also a little indulgence in my husbands bbq burgers that have been left over. Not too bad though. I only use a bun one night and tonight I put it on one piece of bread.

sometimes I think when I am really craving a food I just need to have that food so I can be satisfied. The good news is, I like to workout a lot to make up for the foods that I like to eat.

Good night for now
Jeannie

We've done our 50 chest presses in a variety of ways; lying on the floor with 8 pound weights, lying with head and shoulders on BOSU while bridging with 12 pound weights, leaning into TRX straps, and using a certifiable chest press machine pressing 40 pounds. After all, variety is the spice of life. Helpful hint - towels on BOSUs make the experience much more sanitary. emoticon

As for the biceps curls, we used resistance bands, dumbbells, and dumbbells while balancing on a BOSU. The triceps dips were performed off the living room couch. When doing this exercise, kitties are optional but suggested for the entertainment value. emoticon The lunges were off the BOSU and with TRX straps. While waiting for the train, we also snuck in some side lunges. The crunches included TRX Spiderman crunches. You haven't lived or wanted to die until you try them. emoticon Squats were garden variety, using TRX straps, and balancing on a BOSU.

I dragged out a pair of dumb bells and did a 45 minute workout in the living room. The kitties were helping out! emoticon emoticon

Ohhhhh Valentine's Day!!!! How wonderful that you'll be able to share it with your boyfriend!!! I'm so pleased for you Anna and good luck at the job fair!!!.

Jeannie is doing all the heavy lifting in the challenge. Although they weren't the best, I did 30 side planks this evening. The longer I worked on them the worse they got. Best to save the last 20 for another day. With only 8 pound weights, I rocked my chest presses. I need to find something heavier.

Today has been great so far!!! I've been BUSY BUSY BUSY!! I wrote a couple of lesson notes up for one of my students and I'm about to review some reading techniques with my younger cousin. Aside from this, my boyfriend and I will be celebrating Valentine's day on wednesday, so I'll be traveling out of town to meet with him tomorrow. I want to plan something special for him today, so that's gonna take some time! I also have to prepare for a job fair that's Wednesday. Though I'm tutoring, I want a job with more hours, more money and more benefits!! I have a student to tutor today in the afternoon and my job interview for Kohl's is tomorrow, so I also need to prepare for that!

Leslie: Yes, I do need more time to focus on this team. I do understand that all teams want you to give you best, so maybe it's best for me to really dedicate myself to a select few teams and not spread myself out! Good job with your fitness minutes by the way!!! And thank you for always being so encouraging!! That really makes a difference!

Jeannie: Thank you very much for the compliment! You guys are really rocking out on this challenge!!

Anna, **God Strengthens Me**

Leslie: we are finished with the cardio except for the burpees, I know they will get done because I have gym class tomorrow. For the next 11 week our class is doing something called the Dirty Dozen. It is just like 14-14-14 only with 12. Burpees is usually one of the exercises we had to do 12 reps 12 sets of.
I did do 100 of the following exercise.
High knees, butt kickers, jumping jacks, squat jumps, ski jumps and crunches.
I also did 10 burpees just before dinner so we would have that one started. Don't worry about them. I will get them done.
The only exercise that I did not get to was the mountain climbers. I can get them tomorrow. I can put them in with my 14's as well as some of the other things on the straight.

Jeannie - I spent 75 minutes on the treadmill this morning, so we've got the cardio covered. I can do everything for the 50 reps. In fact, today's team training included lots of squats, lunges, chest presses, biceps curls, and push ups. I worked my triceps on the TRX, but I can also do dips. I'll be fine with the crunches. Although the side planks will be a challenge, I can get that done too. Since jumping jacks are really hard for me, I hope you don't mind doing them. As for burpees, they have to be modified for me to do them. I have no idea what a ski jump is.

Anna - It's too bad you had to quit a team. Since you work so hard with the 60 day fitness/nutrition challenge, it's probably a good thing for you to be selective.

Good Morning everyone.
I know for sure what I am having for dinner tonight.
My husband is BBQing cheese burgers. He is the BBQ king we call him "The King Of The Back Yard BBQ"
My dinner will be a bunless cheese burger, pickles, onions, lettuce, tomato, mushroom, avocado salad. No need for dressing. I will have water to drink. I will take a picture and post it later. I might had banana peppers and mini peppers to my salad. emoticon emoticon

Hi Ann: I am so sorry you had to quit one of your sparks teams. I am so glad it was not ours. I really love having you as our Team leader.
I understand the feeling you get teaching other to improve them selves. I get that feeling every day. I am a pre-K teacher. I also teach my grand children even though I do not think about it that way. Everything I do is a lesson in life of some sort.

Leslie I am excited about our challenge. I love cardio so I know I will do the best that i can do. My 14-14-14 includes everything but the burpees. I will do my best to add some to my workout. Maybe my Monday night class will help me out with that. I will do my best to take picture of a meal or a snack.

Hello everyone!!

I'm feeling a bit sad. I just had to quit one of my spark teams. They were demanding a bit too much from me when I already felt that I was doing so much within the team. I will miss them, but I'll still drop in and do some of the challenges just for the fun of it!

I have another job interview on Tuesday and I'm going to a job fair on Wednesday. I think that I'll have a full time job very soon, but for now I'm so happy to have even my part time job! I really do hope that I find something soon so that I can pay back my loans!

I've been teaching my little cousin how to read and he's almost got it!!! It really feels good to teach and help others! I love watching others grow and develop into stronger versions of themselves!! That is truly priceless. I think I should be a teacher or something! lol

My mom and I have another bet (for those of you who remember our previous bet). We have to lost 3 lbs in the next 2 weeks. I'm excited!!! I know it's not alot, but maybe it'll motivate me to do better!!!

How is everyone doing?

Anna

Hi.
I needed the quiet time as well and did not realize just how much until after I suggested it. Wednesday as well as the days leading up to it, I should say months; have been very challenging day for me. I woke Thursday and did not want to go to work. I never feel this way. I cried because I did not want to go and could not call in, because I was not sick, I just did not want to go. I didn't have to pick up my granddaughter and take her to school, so I took the alone time to pray for straight to make it though, for wise choices, for a happy heart. It didn't seem to be working because I was my heart was heavy all the way to work. I was pretending to be with it and able (I couldn't find a smile although I tried) I was really happy when my lunch break came along. I sat in the office and knitted, prayed and reflected but mostly prayed for a solution to my struggle. Each time I would start to think about all the negative I would pray, bring me back bring me back, don't let me go there. Help me have a positive thought, please give me the answer guide me. I could hear the nap time music playing; it was so beautiful. When my break was over I was a able to finish the day in a different place. I had found a glimmer of my smile. Then at the end of my day while all my house was sleeping, I was knitting and working on the computer and I wasn't paying much attention to the tv until I heard a man talking, he was a sort of like Andy Stanly but not from the same church, at least I don't think he was. Anyway he was talking about things that how to plan your day so it is positive (he was talking about other things too) the part that really helped me was when he said prophecies your day. "It is going to be a beautiful day. I used that yesterday (Friday) to help me through along with much prayer. I believe that the lord spoke to me through a program on T.V. God is good to me.

I am glad I decided to go with the spiritual challenge rather than the fitness or nutrition. I figured I do those anyway so felt it would be a cheat for me to do that . I wanted something that would be a challenge for me. I find it difficult to set aside time for just me. I share my time with my Husband, grandchildren, grown children, and my job and anything else that pops up. I was happy that I chose that. It was much needed for me to.

I can relate to the comfort eating, that is what I do at night but didn't realize it. I am not hungry but just like the taste. I don't eat as much as I used to, because I like to see the scale go down, but there are time when I just can not stop because food tastes to good. This is why I work out so hard.

I must go and get my work out done. The day is starting
Thank Ann for explain the Shred diet.
Have a great weekend everyone.

I struggle with confidence. I had a particularly difficult meeting at work yesterday, so the meditation challenge couldn't have come at a better time. Although riding the "L" is hardly quiet and solitude, I shut everything out, thought about what's important, and decided I needed to make some changes.

Thank you Jeannie for suggesting the challenge and thank you Anna for choosing it.

I'm not ashamed to admit that I see a therapist, and she specializes in eating disorders. I was an obese child who grew up to be an obese adult, so I need all the help I can get. Last night I saw my therapist, and we talked about how establishing a fitness program has made such a positive difference for me. I had often read that exercising can improve your mood, and now I know how true that is. Joining a gym and working with a personal trainer has been life changing, and, at 66, that's saying a lot.

I've had a dramatic change in attitude about fitness, but I'm still having tons of issues with my nutrition. Along with all the really good meals I prepare, I eat junk - lots of it - and it's basically out of habit. I'm not hungry nor do I particularly want the food, but it's like I need some sort of "fix" to free my mind to move on to other things. OK. Maybe I'm dealing with a bit of an addiction too. Anyway, the bottom line is that I know all the truths. Now I just need to apply them.

emoticon I weighed myself today and my weight has gone up since Sunday *sigh*. I think I'm gonna weigh myself only once a week because I'm feeling a bit sad now.

So, I must say something positive now. NSV (Non-Scale Victory): I have SO MUCH ENERGY now, and I can feel a little bit of definition coming to my arms and mid-section.

I've been working out more than I have before, but the eating is quite difficult for me during the evening time. In the mornings, and during the day, I am on top of my eating. I load up on veggies and water and I don't over eat. I'm gonna try really hard to tackle the fitness AND nutrition this week!

Enough about me, how is everyone else doing??!! Anybody meet some goals this week??!!

Leslie: I hardly deserve the same credit as Jeannie. lol She's pretty awesome! I completed the 5-5-5 option, and THAT was tough!! lol You do some really nice workouts yourself. I bet that one of those strength workouts probably counted for the member challenge too!!! Btw, GREAT JOB ON HOLDING A PLANK FOR 2 mins 7 secs. Are you kidding me?!?! That's awesome!!! lol You should be very proud! I'm really hoping to get a gym membership also! While I can workout at home, I prefer going to the gym. I will definitely take a look at the DASH diet! I don't have high blood pressure, but it couldn't hurt, right?!

Jeannie: SHRED is a really great diet! My friend has lost nearly 20 lbs in 4 weeks! I, however, have not been sticking with it as I should! Some days I do well, others I don't, and others I just don't have the right foods. *sigh* I think I'm gonna start doing some of the workouts that you and Leslie do. You all are must more intense than I am, and I need to get on it!! It is a lot to do with classes, job hunting, and teaching my cousin 2 hrs a day, but I'm really going to do it because I want to get over this hill once and for all!!!!

Good morning ladies!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm in awe of Jeannie and Anna completing the 14/14/14 workout. First of all, I'm just not that disciplined to complete that sort of regimen at home. It wasn't so very long ago that I couldn't carve out 10 minutes a day to move my body. For that reason, I joined a gym and started working with a personal trainer. I strength train five times a week. Since I'm working with a trainer or an instructor, I do what I'm told, so I don't pick the exercises or the number of reps/sets. Last night, I worked with mostly machines, and I did three sets on each. When the weight increased, the reps decreased. With the last set, I worked until my muscles fatigued. After all that craziness, the grand finale was holding a plank as long as I could. I was disappointed that it was only 2 minutes 7 seconds, but my arms were killing me. Afterwards, I got on a recumbent bike for 25 minutes.

I took a quick peek at the SHRED diet, and it looks interesting. Kudos to you Anna!!! You might also want to check into the DASH diet. It was actually designed for those dealing with high blood pressure but has been consistently rated as one of the best diets for weight loss. Having been on the dieting roller coaster for over five decades, I count calories, because I cook/make almost 100% of my meals. I'm not one to broil a chicken breast and have a side of vegetables, so it's soup, stew, or chili for me. I enjoy complex flavors and texture and prefer vegetarian meals. I don't know what I would do without my crockpot. In the end, it truly comes down to changing one's lifestyle.

Take care everyone!!!

Leslie

Hello;
Leslie wow; you have all the snow that my granddaughter and grandson would love to build a snowman with. I do hope you were able to shovel it before it grew to dark and cold. Unfortunate that I live so far away, I would be more than happy to help you clear the snow away from your drive way and clear off your side walk.
Thank you for sharing your recipe.

Ann: I still have not checked into the Shred diet. I have been eating all sorts of freggies. We have quite a lot of veggies left over from Taco night.
Tonight I had a very large taco salad. I drank at least 10 glasses of water. I completed a 14-14-14 work out it was combined with cardio and toning. I did not get the outside workout done today, because of rain, and it got dark to soon for me to walk my grandchildren home. That would have been a 2 mile walk.

Good night all.

I started back on my SHRED diet today. I stopped for close to 2 weeks, but I've decided that I need to take my health and fitness more seriously!

Today, I have 6 servings of freggies, 9 cups of water and 30 minutes of exercise (20 strength minutes). It feels really good to be back on the ball again!!

I'm hoping to lose 8 to 10 lbs this month, which means I really have to focus! It has been pretty cool outside, so I'll try to complete my other outdoor workout whenever it warms up a little.

Online classes are going great! I was a week behind, so I've been watching lectures all day! I helped my little cousin with his shapes and colors. He's come a long way!

I'm gonna finish up my day with some bible study and yoga! So, today has been really great and productive!!!

Well, have a wonderful night!

Since Linus dropped 19.3" of snow at Chicago O'Hare, getting an outdoor workout has not been a problem. Yesterday, I spent 3 1/2 hours getting the white stuff off the driveway and sidewalks, and this morning it was another 80 plus minutes. When I get home tonight, I get to clear the snow away from in front of the garage. I hope I can get it done in under an hour, because, of course, the snow blower wouldn't start. Oh joy!

While waiting for the snow to slow down, I made Tuscan Portobello Stew. It's really good, so I thought I would share the recipe. Plus, it's quick and easy!

Ingredients

2 large portobello mushrooms, coarsely chopped
1 medium onion, chopped
3 garlic cloves, minced
2 tablespoons olive oil
1/2 cup white wine or vegetable broth
1 can (28 ounces) diced tomatoes, undrained
2 cups chopped fresh kale
1 bay leaf
1 teaspoon dried thyme
1/2 teaspoon dried basil
1/2 teaspoon dried rosemary, crushed
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon pepper
2 cans (15 ounces each) white kidney or cannellini beans, rinsed and drained

Directions

1. In a large skillet, saute the mushrooms, onion and garlic in oil until tender. Add the wine. Bring to a boil; cook until liquid is reduced by half. Stir in the tomatoes, kale and seasonings. Bring to a boil. Reduce heat; cover and simmer for 8-10 minutes.

2. Add beans; heat through. Discard bay leaf. Yield: 4 servings.

Nutritional Facts

1-1/4 cups equals 309 calories, 8 g fat (1 g saturated fat), 0 cholesterol, 672 mg sodium, 46 g carbohydrate, 13 g fiber, 12 g protein. Diabetic Exchanges: 2 starch, 2 vegetable, 1-1/2 fat, 1 lean meat.

I left out the salt and used low sodium beans. To make up for the missing amino acid, I included a cup of cooked brown rice.

Hi everyone!!!

So, I've decided to do all of the Week 3 Challenge because I will likely do it anyway! lol I walked outside today with my mom, sister and little cousin. We walked up and down a few steep hills for about 20 minutes. So, this week, I'm aiming to...

- Complete 2 outdoor workouts.
- Complete 2 strength workouts.
- Eat as many freggies (servings of fruits and vegetables) as you can!! (Please track the amount that you eat BOTH daily and weekly.)
- Post on the team wall OR thread at least 4 days this week.
- Post a picture of a healthy meal (or snack) on 3 days this week.

I'm really excited and hoping to drop 1 to 3 lbs this week! I will do my best!!!

Hope everyone's enjoying the challenge!

emoticon I have realized that my February challenge may be more than I can handle, because of who long it will take me to complete the workouts until I get the number down to at least 18; therefore I have decided to revise and make February a 14-14-14 month.
I will chose 14 exercise to do 14 reps, 14 sets. This is my personal goal, not the 60 day challenges. If there is something that we are supposed to do for the 60 day that is different, than I will do that as well.

I will change it on my page later.

Hope everyone is having a nice time watching the Super Bowl: that is if you have an interest. This year I do. My grandchildren are Seahawk cheer leaders. emoticon My grandson is sing to them Jesus Loves You. That is his favorite song. That is the song I exercise to song my my grandson over and over. It is sweet. emoticon

Hi team
I did the member challenge to day for my LCW lots of hours. I was going for 12-12-12 for the member challenge. Jump rope, ski jumps, high knees, toe taps, straddle taps, box jumps straddle jumps, steps, standing crunch, side bends, side twist and sit ups. I went even further bicycles, scissors legs, squats, wide squats, side lunges, regular lunges, calf raises, weed pullers, bicept curls, overhead press, push up (some were on the wall) 28 second plank, mountain climbers, Russian Twist, Crunch knees to elbows, Jumping Jacks. This was really tough. But I did it. My 28-28-28 took me all day to do. I filled up my tracker before I was even halve way through. By the end I had burned over 2200 calories, my steps were at 32.7K and I finished at 7:30 p.m. I started at 10:00 A.M. I took one break to take my granddaughter and her mommy to Girl Scouts, as well as a few necessary breaks. Needless to say it was a very tough workout, I will not be do a 28-28-28 again. it was a bit much. I will attempt my Feb challenge to work down to 7-7-7, which means tomorrow is 27s. I am not going to cry if I can not complete it. I will do what I can and move on! Wow.

I drank all at last 8 glasses of water and ate 3 serving so vegies. I am only going to clam 6 hours of workout time for today. Sorry that I just can not quit until I finish what I start. emoticon

So, I completed the weekly challenge (which I will be posting in my tracking along with the weekly weigh in). I did 2 days of meditation and 1 day of yoga. I found that doing yoga is not as relaxing while I'm doing it, mainly bc it requires muscle control that I don't have yet. However, on the day that I did yoga, I was the most alert and felt so relaxed throughout the day! I will definitely try to incorporate it into my weekly routine!

I've drank tons of water throughout this week. I did a video workout yesterday for my LCW and finished my Member Challenge today. I did Option 1 (L1) which was the 5-5-5. I chose squats, jumping jacks, modified pushups, burpees and tricep dips. It was TOUGH! lol

I really hope that I can get up to the level where I'm working out for an hour or two. I'm not quite there yet, but I'll keep pushing.

Jeannie - lol Your granddaughter is hilarious!!!!

Leslie - That was a good core workout. I've never had a trainer, but I can imagine that transitioning to someone new can be pretty tough, esp. if you're used to doing things a certain way. Hang in there!!! Feel it out a bit! If you don't warm up to his style, you can always try for a new trainer! emoticon

Hi everyone!

I belong to a gym and work with a personal trainer 3 times during the work week. On Saturday, I take a 60 minute TRX class at the Park District and follow it up with 90 minutes of cardio - treadmill/recumbent bike. Sunday is not a day of rest for me, so it's Team Training and another 75 minutes of cardio. Since the trainers are the professionals, I keep my preferences to myself, so I don't always do pushups, sit ups, lunges, and squats in the same session. Last night, my core workout was reverse crunches, flutter kicks, and planks. I used machines for my upper and lower body workouts.

I had been working with the same trainer for 16 months, but he recently left to take a job at another gym. For all sorts of reasons, it wasn't practical for me to follow him, so I have a new trainer. In a lot of ways, the transition hasn't been easy for me. First of all, their styles are completely different. Nick has been training for 8 months. For Tom, it's 12 years and counting. I'm not saying that Nick is a bad trainer, but Tom is damned good. On Monday, it was a "party" day for Team Training, so the sessions were free. When I finished with Nick on Tuesday, he discouraged me from doing any type of training on Wednesday and suggested I might want to consider cutting back my sessions to 2 a week. It's all a bit disconcerting, and I probably should have a chat with him about what concerns he must be having.

Take care everyone!!!

Leslie

Hi;
I did the same workout today as I did yesterday - the lift class.(120 minutes) My granddaughter helped me mark them off as I did them. She likes to be the tally girl. She is so sweet.

I drank all the water.

Comic relief for the day;

My granddaughter has been trying to go to my staff party with me all week. It is on Friday. Tonight she was making one final request. "I sure wish I could be invited to that birthday party" (it is a Christmas party/staff party) After much back and fort of why she could not go, I finally said "you have to be 21 to go to this party" I thought that would be the end of it. Being the quick thinking that she is. She quickly asked "you have to be 21?, how old are you Grandma?" I answered “54” thinking that I was on top of the game and it would be the end of the struggle. Once again she has a response “then you are to old” I had not comment. I just giggle and was finished with the conversation. Leaving her to believe that she had the last word. She did try one last time when I took her home, she said…”Grandma I will miss you so much when you go to your party tomorrow night. I kissed her and said “I will see you in the Morning before school..

Have a great evening everyone.

Each day is a new day! Remember to breath and relax!

Hi All:
I drank 10 8oz glasses of water today, did 8 countdown workouts, mostly toning exercises, I did do some cardio, I also went my lift class.

I have to share:
Tonight my granddaughter told me she was hungry and could we stop by McDonalds so she could have a Happy Meal. I am not a big fan of McDonalds, but on occasion I do have something. I told her If you can say the Pledge of Allegiance, she stood right up, placed her hand over heart and said it. I asked her if they sang a song as well and she started singing, "Your a Grand Old Flag" she even did the hand motions. It was so good, I could not deny her the special dinner she requested. What sweet girl

Have a great evening everyone.

Good Evening everyone.
Hope everyone had a wonderful day. I did. Work was good. I love that I can do my count down during recess and have the students either do some with me or let me know what I haven't done yet. Anyway I got 5 of my 100 count down's done at work, during recess (3 of them) I did the final 3 at home in the basement with my grandchildren cheering me on and providing the music. My grandson likes to sing to me while I work out. (Jesus Loves You; he version of the way the song is sung.)
I drank 9 cups of water.

I tried pan noodles. they turned out pretty good.
Rather than boiling the noodles in a pot, I broke the noodle in half put them in the frying pan and added 1/3 cup of water, covered the frying pan and checked it every 5 or so minutes, if the water was gone and the noodles were not as soft as I wanted them I added 1/3 cup of water, stirred and covered. I did season them with garlic and a little butter. the kids loved them and asked for more. I served the noodles with a salad and fruit. I don't usually eat noodles, but I wanted to try this new way of preparing them that my husband posted on my fb page. He had what the kids did not eat and I think he liked them. He did not say "don't ever do that again" He just ate them all.

Have great night all.

Each day is a new day! Remember to breath and relax!

Hi everyone!!

Here are my choices for this week's challenge:

Drink at least 8 cups of water on at least 4 days this week. (Sec. A)
Complete morning a meditation/stretch (e.g. yoga, pilates, etc.) on at least 3 days of the week. (Sec. B)

Of course, section C only has a requirement of a cardio workout, which I plan to complete on Friday.

Well, this week has been interesting. My boyfriend came into town and I kinda got off track with the eating and working out. I'm starting back today and I'm not taking NO for an answer. I prayed that God would give me the strength to do this, and now I just need to do my part. I've been eating well and working towards my 8 cups of water!! I feel great!

Leslie - Completed goals should go on your trackers. I actually see that things may seem a bit confusing, so I'm going to send out an email shortly. CONGRATULATIONS with the TRX "butt-kicking" lol Way to show them that you've still got it!!!! That's pretty awesome!

Jeannie - CONGRATULATIONS on your weight loss!! It may be 1 lb, but it's a pound in the right direction! I totally understand the time constraints with trying to complete morning workouts! I'm actually not working right now, so I'm gonna try to do some yoga in the morning to relax myself before the day begins! Btw, NICE WORKOUT!!! You always do really well with that!!

Kelli - Hi! I understand some confusion about how things will work this round! I'm going to send out a very detailed email today explaining things. If you still have questions after the email, PLEASE contact me. emoticon

Lilorita - Good job with the healthy replacements. Water is so good for our bodies, and we need a good amount of it. Your body will start to crave juices/sodas less and less!! Btw, netball sounds like a great way to workout!! Keep u the good work!

I forgot to note that the training session included BOSU pushups, TRX lunges, sit ups, and crunches. Along with the prisoner squats, there were squats to a kettle bell press and squats holding the kettle bell.

Since Monday was a free team training "party" at the gym, I said "what the heck" and joined in the fun and merriment. With balloons and streamers, it was very festive. Anyway, there's always something weird that I've never done before, and this time it was prisoner squats. The workout includes kettle bells, dumb bells, BOSUs, TRX, resistance bands, and plain everyday body weight exercises. It's a noisy, fast paced, total body, 45-minute workout. When it was over, I was drenched with sweat. While I can't always keep up with the young'uns, I can at least surprise them by kicking their butts using the TRX and out lifting them. I also got in 60 minutes on the treadmill and survived by reading the current issue of Self magazine.

When you get to be my age, knowing the location of the nearest restroom is a must. To avoid embarrassing situations, I can't be continually guzzling water, but I managed to drink six cups.

Here it is the end of another Monday. This week it was a good Monday.
I drank 8 glasses of water.
My husband bought me a 50.7oz bottle of water so I drank that and then at 16 more 0z of water.

I did 7 sets of 100 count down workout. I did my sit ups on 30, lunges on 20 and push up on 10.
When I went to the gym this evening. We did a list of 30 of each of the following exercise 3 times with 3 laps around the gym in between each set of exercise.
30 back work lunges with a knee lift (each leg) On a balance disc
30 sec planks
30 side to side squats using the disc
30 push ups
30 full arm length plank with a leg lift
30 burpees.
3 laps around the track
so each exercise was done 90 times by the end of the hour. I did it.

I wasn't done yet, because I still had 4 sets of 100 count downs left. I did more lunges, sit ups and push ups, along with squats, jumping jack, jump ropes, running the stairs. ball pass, and then I worked with the weights too. I was so glad when I was finished. WHEW.
I put in 2.5 hours today.
Now I have 3 day of 8 X 100 count down and then I am finished with my personal January challenge.
Have a great evening everyone. emoticon

Hello everyone,

My week has started well, I hope I can continue. Today I managed to workout, I did Aerobics for 15 minutes then played netball for 45 minutes and did my walking for 40 minutes. I am slowing eliminating soda and replacing it with water, so far I have taken 4 glasses now on my fifth. Still have to woork on my diet and see what works for me. Goodluck everyone!

Hi everyone.
I have been really busy today; The day just flew by.

My choices from A B and C are as follows.
A Drink at least 8 cups of water a day for at least 4 days.

I could chose the no soda or juice, but I feel that would be a cheat, because I very rarely drink juice and even less of a chance that I would drink soda. I would rather get my juice from fresh fruit or veggies..

B. Incorporate lunges, push ups and sit ups into 3 workouts this week.

C LCW complete any cardio on either Friday or Saturday .
must record your total minutes for your workout on your tracker.

Thank you Leslie and Ann for your nice comments and words of encouragement. I was able to loose a pound this week even though I ate 3 pieces of pizza. They were not small pieces. But I must have been eating the right foods to break the foods down and burn the calories up. Or I just burned it up with all my 100 count downs. I did get 2 hours of work out in today too.
I do want to mix up my work outs with yoga and zumba, but I think I will do that in March. Unless yoga and Zumba become a must in a weekly challenge. I just can not do it in the morning because of my schedule, I would have to do the yoga or Zumba in the evening...

Have a wonderful evening and a magnificent Monday Team.

Each day is a new day! Remember to breath and relax!

Since I am totally clueless, I have no idea where to post the completed goals. The stuff I managed to do is as follows:

- Eat at least 5 servings of vegetables and/or fruits on 5 days of the week.
- Eat at least 1 serving of raw vegetables on 4 days of the week
- Complete at least 30 minutes of cardiovascular exercise on 5 days of the week.
- Complete at least 3 miles this week.
- Complete at least 20 minutes of strength training on 3 days of the week.
- Post a motivational quote on the team wall at least 2 days of the week.
- Post within the team chat forum at least 3 days of the week.
- Send a goodie to your buddy AND another teammate.

Well, tis been an interesting week. I'm half in, half out right now!! I make sure that I eat my veggies, fruits and drink water.... and more! lol So, I need to limit the "more" that I'm eating and stick to the healthy stuff, at least for now! Weight loss is the goal!

I'm on my 2nd Week of the SHRED diet. I haven't stuck with it as closely as I did last week bc I haven't had the chance to workout much (though I did do quite a bit on Monday and Tuesday). I've been so engrossed in interviews and my online class. However, I will definitely workout today AND eat properly. It won't be long before 60 days is up!

Gay - Glad to see that you got in that mileage!!! But indeed the weather has been a bit "iffy" lately!

Leslie - Thanks for the recipe!! You gave it out before (I think lol). I'm definitely going to make it! Just need to pick up some shallots and paste! And yes, chivalry is NOT dead! I know we don't see it as often as we'd like to, but it is very much alive and well!

Jeannie - lol I've been eating things that I don't necessarily want to, but I do think it's important that we still eat the things that we need to. For example, I've have a bit of cheese lately, but I've still managed to eat at least 5 servings of freggies and drink a good amount of water! That helps!!! And great work on the exercise!! I've really been relaxed in that area this week, but I'm hoping to get a good workout in this evening!!

Hi

Getting into my first week. Got a buddy and I am moving forward. Try track my mileage but had some trouble. I had no problem with my walks outdoors but I've used the treadmill this week because of the bad weather and I can't seem to track that. I got my 3 miles in though.

Hi everyone!!!

I live in a suburb just outside of Chicago but can walk to public transportation. I take the Blue Line to and from work. The Blue Line is part of the rapid transit system of elevated/subway trains. For short, it's known as the "L". As to be expected, the trains are usually packed during rush hour. When going home, I get on the train at the last stop out of the Loop, so there are seldom any seats available. Heck, I'm usually happy to just be able to board and not have someone's backpack shoving me into another rider. Anyway, last night it was crowded, and a young man offered me his seat. I'm 66 with curly grey hair. Since I do consider myself to be rough and tough and hard to bluff, I declined, but he insisted. He told me that he wasn't giving up his seat because he thought I was old but because chivalry isn't dead. Another man gave him a thumbs up, and I sat down. After I got home, I changed into my workout clothes and headed to the gym. I lead a life full of contradictions.

Trainer Nick is a little concerned about all the cardio I put in. He thinks I'm overdoing it, and Trainer Tom once told me that I was over training. I must admit I'm a tad bit flummoxed. I have no problem admitting that I'm not a spring chicken, but I'm getting a kick out of pushing myself. Besides, if I sit home in the evening, I feel guilty. Of course, if I would cut out all the junk I've been eating, the whole guilt issue would disappear. I'm sorry to be so disappointing. What can I say? I'm Catholic, so guilt is in my DNA. emoticon

Hi Team:
Thank you Leslie for the recipe for spice curried lentils. I may have to try it next time I invite my oldest son over. He loves hot hot hot food.

My day started out with my mouth wanting everything I didn't want it to have, my mouth sort of won. However, I did eat 5 serving of fruit and vegies with more vegies than fruits. I drank at least 32 oz of water and worked out for at least 120 minutes. I usually stop counting when I get to 2 hours. I did my 100 count down workout 6 times. burned at least 2000 calories all together. 15735 steps and filled my activity tracker on my Polar Loop. The not so goo thing was all the nuts I ate, the coffee beans. I had to put a rubber band around the bag and tuck it in a place that I had to work to get it out. Then just when I thought I could come home and have a nice peaceful salad and maybe an apple, My husband ordered pizza. It was just to yummy and I couldn't stop eating. I ended up having 3 pieces. The good thing was that I did make sure I put a salad on my plate and I did eat it.
I can only pray that I have a better day tomorrow and do not go burzerk and just eat all day. I think I will wear my skinny pants so I can encourage myself to eat what I need to be eating and not the foods that are piled high in calories.

Good night to all of you
Have a wonderful Friday.

Jeannie

Since I've been "talking" about it, I decided to share the recipe for Spicy Curried Lentils. I'm copying a pasting, so here's hoping that it all makes sense.

Yields: 6

Total Time: 8 hr 10 min

Prep Time: 10 min

Nutritional Information
(per serving)

Calories 335
Total Fat 9g
Saturated Fat 5g
Cholesterol --
Sodium 670mg
Total Carbohydrate 48g
Dietary Fiber 20g
Sugars --
Protein 19g
Calcium --

Ingredients
2 medium shallots, quartered
1 can(s) (6-ounce) tomato paste
1 jalapeño chile, stemmed
4 slice(s) (thick) peeled ginger
2 clove(s) garlic, peeled
2 teaspoon(s) ground cumin
2 teaspoon(s) ground coriander
2 cup(s) vegetable broth
1 1/2 cup(s) lentils, picked over
1 can(s) (15-ounce) light coconut milk
3 cup(s) large cauliflower florets
1 cup(s) frozen peas, thawed
1 tablespoon(s) fresh lime juice
Cooked basmati rice, for serving
1/3 cup(s) chopped shelled unsalted pistachios
Salt
Black pepper

Directions

1.In food processor, pulse shallots, tomato paste, jalapeño, ginger, garlic, cumin, coriander, and 1/2 teaspoon each salt and black pepper until mostly smooth; transfer to 7- to 8-quart slow cooker bowl.
2.To same slow cooker bowl, add broth, lentils, coconut milk, and 1 cup water, stirring to combine. Place cauliflower on top. Replace lid and cook on high 5 hours or on low 8 hours or until lentils are tender.
3.Into slow cooker bowl, stir peas, lime juice, and 1/4 teaspoon salt. Serve over rice; garnish with pistachios.

I'm not a fan a hot, hot, hot food, so I seeded the jalapeño. To ramp up the vegetables, I recommend at least four or five cups of cauliflower. For those concerned about sodium, I didn't add any salt and used water instead of broth. If you prefer adding broth, you can make your own. When I cut up vegetables, I put the scraps in a bag in the freezer to later be dumped in a crockpot with water. It's easy, it's cheap, and it's better than the stuff you get in a can.

lol @ Leslie, you don't need to be TOO extreme! The oatmeal, coconut milk, etc. is fine. Processed moreso means pastas, breads, etc. I'm glad that you got a 3 mile walk in!! I seriously want to work up to that!

Jeannie emoticon on all the vegetables!!! Hope you feel a boost in your energy!!!

Kathy I am sorry to hear of your loss, and I hope that you find peace during this time!

I never thought it was possible, but I've become a bit of a gym rat. I keep subscribing to magazines, so that I have something to read as I walk on the treadmill. My three mile walk is checked off my list. I'm really good about eating fruits, vegetables, and raw vegetables, but an entire day without processed food is going to be tough. On the weekends, I cook old fashioned oatmeal for breakfast. Is the oatmeal considered to be unprocessed? I'm guessing that cottage cheese wouldn't work either. The Spicy Lentil Curry I made includes a can of lite coconut milk. Processed?

Hi Team;
I got my time into Walking and did a little cardio as well.

I had an apple, carrots, cucumber, broccoli, celery and mini peppers for my 5 servings of fruit and vegies. I was able to eat more vegies than fruits.

I had an enjoyable evening because this is the third Tuesday of the months and that means it was Women's Life.

Each day is a new day! Remember to breath and relax!

Good evening everyone.
First I would like to send my condolences to Kathy and prays for healing hearts.

I chose to eat 5 serving of fruits and vegies a day too. I am going to try and eat more vegies as well. I have been trying to add more of a variety of vegies to my diet. I have been some what successful. I used to have to cut them up and eat them in my salad, now I just slice different vegies up and eat them with out the dressing. Sometimes I roll them up in my sliced turkey. So yummy.

I also chose to do 30 minutes of exercise at least 5 days a week. I did more than 2 hours today. I stopped counting at 120 minutes because that is all I can count on my other challenge. Anyway. I did my 30 for this challenge and then some.

I chose to chat on this page at least 3 days a week.

Today is a good day, My youngest daughter turned 26 years old. Can not believe time has passed by this quick. My baby just turned 21 before Christmas. Wow, it really makes a person think about how to spend your time. Make the wise choice today so you will not regret it tomorrow.

Finally getting a chance to look over the specifics of this challenge. I will try to get my base assessment done tomorrow. I guess better late than. Never! Things have just been really hectic here. My Dad passed away on Saturday so I have not had much time to get on Spark. I have continued with my running which has helped me stay sane , and will be ready to bring it once I get through tomorrow.

Good afternoon everyone!!

Here's what I've chosen for the challenge:

- Eat at least 5 servings of vegetables and/or fruits on 5 days of the week. (Sec. A)
- Complete at least 30 minutes of cardiovascular exercise on 5 days of the week. (Sec. B)
- Send a goodie to your buddy AND another teammate. (Sec. C)

I've been doing this SHRED diet, so I'm already doing the 5 servings a day! I'm gonna try to make it only 1 fruit and 4 vegetables (if possible).

30 minutes of interval walking/jogging today, along with 20 minutes of Just Dance activity. I've drank about 40 ounces of water so far!! Definitely aiming for 64 or more!!!

I am doing good. I had one boiled egg and one piece of wheat toast. Did my 35 minute workout today

Hi everyone. I completed my base assignment. I am so glad that I had been continuing with my workout during the break, because pushup are not so easy for me to do, but I had been including them in my workouts so I was able to do 58. I did 20 on my toes and the last 38 on my knees.

water toast and an apple for breakfast. Coffee.
vegies and fruit and mixed nuts for lunch and snack
Steak, salad, more fruit and vegies home made cranberry smoothie for dinner.
ice-cream for dessert.

Today is my day to just eat what I want. This is what I wanted to eat. It is my junk food day, but the food was not junk food.
I have sparks to thank for my replacement of healthy food choices for my cheat days.

I will be back on track tomorrow. Not ice-cream.

Each day is a new day! Remember to breath and relax!
