Great work BUTTERFLI21!!!

Today I ran my usual mile and did some weight lifting. Getting bored and used to this routine, so I think I'll definitely change it up next week. The only change I'm making this week is the amount of weight that I'm lifting, and trying to run the mile a little bit faster.

I weighed myself today and my heart broke. I'm gonna work really hard and not weigh in again until the end of this month, April 30th. I'm hoping to lose between 5 and 9 lbs by then!

Ok with calorie count today, but dealing with a food hangover from yesterday's overage of calories. I've learned one thing:

Nothing tastes as good as thin feels

I just can't believe I ate that way before changing my eating habits. I'm not sure I can go back to that way of eating because it zaps your energy and makes thinking clearly difficult.

Glad I joined Sparkpeople and this team.

I started today with a green smoothie (soy milk, spinach, strawberries and banana). I think I'm gonna try to do this for breakfast for the remainder of this challenge. It's actually very filling.

I walked a little over 3 miles yesterday, today I plan on doing a mile jog along with some strength training. I won't lie, it's been a struggle to maintain both healthy eating and physical fitness, but I think I'm starting to get the hang of it.

For the past few days, I've drank at least 8 cups of water. After the cruise, I continue to skim on the water and veggies, but thanks to a good friend of mine (who is also aiming to live a healthier lifestyle), I've gotten some motivation back!!

Lastly, I think I'm going to reduce the amount of meat that I eat. I also want to start spending more time in solitude, reflecting on life and talking with God. It is so wonderful to finally have some sense of direction and purpose in life!

From our house to the main highway is 5k so today because it was a nice enough day I decided to try, for the first time which I thought would be a different challenge, to walk to the highway and back to see how my body would react to the outside walking conditions. About 1/3 of the way I started feeling my baby toe on my left foot complaining it didn't have enough room and was rubbing the toe next to it. At about the second third of the walk my right hip mentioned it had a kink and once I noticed that the rest of the body wanted to tell me their woes also. It took me 40 min. to walk and the wind was a bit too cool for my comfort level but other than being a little discomforted it was an enjoyable experience. I definitely could see myself doing this again on a warmer day when there was no cool wind. This is just the first small step to finding the person I once was and loving myself again because I can do anything I put my mind to.
I am right on track with my tracking my healthy foods and no cheating because I know I am only 12 lbs. away from my targeted weight and I'm looking forward to stage 2 the maintenance part of the new eating lifestyle. Changing the way I think about food has been an evolving experience. I am so glad now to not depend on the scales to show me that I am going in the right direction but knowing that I am active and eating wisely finally.

To me HEALTH means Energy. Stamina. Flexibilty. A relatively pain free body. Enjoying healthy food. You are your body, and your weight loss efforts will succeed exactly to the extent that you mange to do the work on behalf of your embodied self. You’ll do much better when you focus on making positive changes to improve your health and well-being, rather than on fighting your bad habits.

Today's exercise went well with 83 minutes of Wii fit, but not as happy with my food choices. I stayed within my calorie allotment; however, I could have made better decisions concerning food.

Working to improve a little everyday. I'm just going to be kind to myself and look forward to another opportunity to do better tomorrow.

Today is here and now, and tomorrow is yet to come. So, live in the moment because this day will never come around again. Each day is a once in a lifetime event.

Today I ran a mile and actually went to the gym to lift weights. The mile nearly killed me but I'm sure it'll be better Wednesday. I ate healthy today (even though I did have 3 tv dinners, which are high in sodium). I also had fruits and veggies, and more water than I've been drinking. Only 2 tv dinners left, so after they're gone, I'll be eating more fish and veggies/fruits.

Tomorrow will be my at home workout. I'm gonna do my Just Dance 3 and some bodyweight strength exercises. Ready to get back into shape!

Below is the outline for Phase One. All phases and the corresponding plans will be posted as both an announcement and photo on our team wall. Also, each phase will have its own forum. You should aim to post within this form at least once per week.

PHASE ONE

** Clean Eating (Diet) **

Just as it sounds, you are to keep your diet as clean as possible. Basic requirements:
1. no fried foods
2. limit fast foods (You are to find an alternative for any fried foods. E.g. baked, grilled, poached, sauteed, etc.)

Allow yourself no more than 3 cheat days during this 20 day period.

** Build It Up and Walk It Out **
(Cardio and Strength Training)

Basic Requirements
1. workout at least 2 to 3 times per week
A list of exercises can be found on the team wall. In addition to walking, you should complete at least 10 minutes of strength training using your own body weight.

(Note: I am not a trained health/fitness professional. All fitness/diet plans are suggestions that have worked for me, family and friends, and many others. You should always complete any plan within your own abilities while remaining safe. Use your own judgement. However, you should still gently push yourself past comfort level.)
