What a lovely photo of you and your Grandma Morris!!! It is so special - and how wonderful that she inspired a love of baking in you!!!
emoticon emoticon

I only have two memories of my father's mother and one of those is her baking biscuits. She was making little biscuits for my sister and me, along with the bigger one for the adults. I remember looking up at her and she looked SO big, but it's just that I was so little. I was only 5 when she passed away.

My mother's father I never knew because he left the family, as I mentioned. My father's father was a favorite of mine and my siblings. We loved him very much even though he had a temper. He was not mean to us.

I knew all four of my grandparents well, and met three of my great-grandparents.

I was the closest to my dad's mom, My Grandma Morris, and one of my favorite memories is of baking with her. To this day I love to bake. I think of her almost every time I make a sweet concoction.

My Dad's parents lived in England. His mother died when he was about 12 and his father remarried. I never met that set of g/parents, but used to stay most holiday's with my Mum's parents. My grandmother had to wear dark glasses all the time because she had a condition with her eyes which the sun made heaps worse. We used to love playing cards with her. It took her a very long time to figure out we could see what cards she had from the reflection in her glasses LOL! She wondered why we mostly beat her LOL! She was NOT best pleased when she discovered what my brother and I were doing LOL!

My Grandfather on my Momís side would come to dinner every Sunday.. he would always bring cookies from the Belgium bakery near his house. Grandpa has been gone since 1968, but the bakery is still there. Fond memories about Grandpa when ever I go by the store.

I only knew my maternal grandparents. My grandfather was a sweet, kindly man with a lovely Scottish accent. My grandmother was not so nice, but she sure could bake. I fondly remember all her cakes.

Visiting my Grandma in PA every summer - Just smelling her baked breads/pies/cookies and HUGE cinnamon rolls - She loved to feed us sweets!! Also sitting on her front porch swing while she would sing us this song "Poor babes in the Woods"......It was kinda sad and always made me tear up emoticon

I remember all 4 of my grandparents, although both grandfathers died when I was 8.
My grandmothers were very kind to me. One of my favourite things is a photo of my maternal grandmother wearing a caftan and sitting on a camel in Egypt when she was 70! She was always up for an adventure. emoticon

What is, or was, your favorite thing about one of your grandparents?

I don't have the typical memories of making cookies, etc. with my maternal grandmother or anything like that, but I have great respect for her. My favorite thing about her was her ability to survive against the odds. Her husband left when my mother and her siblings were little and my grandmother had to make a living off the land and rear her 5 children alone during the Depression years. I honestly don't know how she did it. It's very inspiring to me.
