Glad to be an encouragement for you, HAPPYDOES ... drop by my page anytime if you need some commiseration or a pep talk ... been there, done that with the fibro for a lot of years now and STILL trying to figure out what works and what doesn't. Good days and bad days but at least we HAVE days :)

I have fibromyalgia too, HAPPYDOES, and I have discovered that once I push past the pain when I first start an exercise program, I MUST keep it up EVERY day or it's like starting all over again. But it DOES make me feel better, and I do better in general, when I am active daily. And kudos to you for striving to be a runner, no matter how fast or slow ... in my head I WANT to be a runner but at least for now my body says I will be a walker. But I do what I can so that's good enough :)
Good luck and best wishes to you ... and to us all!

I read an article yesterday on Glycemic index. Everything I had read before about it seemed to think this was the way to go. I tried the low glycemic index diet and couldn't make it work because it didn't make any sense to me. According to the glycemic index scale, Frosted Flakes are low GI and watermelon is high. I can't work with what doesn't make semse to me. It was nice to see that the author of the article had a similar problem with it.

Read 'How to start eating healthier'. Nothing I didn't already know to be honest but its actually putting it into practice. The article says that the more you eat the fruit and veggies and avoid the bad stuff the easier it will get. Your palate will change. I cant see that happening but would be so pleased if it did LOL!!

One thing I do need to realise is there is no point planning a meal that is really healthy but which doesn't appeal to me because when it comes to it I will end up not eating it and grabbing something else quick and easy that will probably be junk!!

I need to plan healthy foods that I will like and remember that I am NOT on a diet but changing my lifestyle for EVER. So it has to be sustainable!!

read an article on motivation and learned that just because i miss a workout or overeat I shouldn't let my motivation hit bottom. It's just a slip up and I'm not the only person that has ever done it.

I was encouraged to read an article about carbs! Oh my goodness! Everybody was on a huge kick about low- or no-carb diets recently, but look at something I found in the article!:
"For fat to be metabolized properly, carbohydrates must be present. If there are not enough carbohydrates, then large amounts of fat are used for energy. The body is not able to handle this large amount so quickly, so it accumulates ketone bodies, which make the body acidic. This causes a condition called ketosis."

And I just know from other research that I believe acidic bodies are more prone to serious issues. :( Good to know! Knowledge IS power!

Reading an article a day is a personal goal of mine and I am happy to join this challenge. Yesterday I read about why it is important to set the fast break goals and why it is important for goals to be specific and time oriented. Setting goals is the first step to success.

I am thankful.

Hi Team,
MARISSARZ - I agree that you don't have to give up your favorite foods. When I was losing my weight I would have one Sonic Vanilla Dish per week. It was a treat to look forward to. I used to have the Sonic Blast so I did compramise some. Also, I would have my favorite Mexican Food meal every now and then (NOT ONCE A WEEK THOUGH) :)

Today I read an ariticle about arthritis. I'm having some pain in my right hip that I have not had before. www.sparkpeople.com/resource/fitness

I read 10 Habits of Unsuccessful Dieters. Very good article, I learned that you have to set realistic expectations and not to give up to quickly. I also liked the tip about not giving up foods altogether "all things in moderation" feels less restrictive and more in my control.

I read "De-Stress in 3 Minutes or Less." I discovered that emotional eating is the biggest problem facing those of us trying to get healthy. According to the article we should follow this plan: Minute 1: Stay Grounded, Minute 2: Reality Check, and Minute 3:Putting Things in Perspective.

I read "How To Stop Thinking Negatively". The article was not all that helpful. Easier said than done in my opinion.

I did take away to point out a positive thing not "just" negatives and try to force yourself to do the opposite of that negative thought or action.

Hi, I just read 7 ways to a better sleep. It is full of good reminders. I find I struggle to get enough sleep as my hubby is a night owl and I want to spend some time with him but my wake up time for work is quite early (5:30). I need to find a good balance to sleep well and for a long enough time.
