I love the SP nutrition tracker, but there's something I love about hard copy notes. I love being able to peruse my food log and emotional notes anytime. Your challenge today is to write down your food with pen and paper. It's somewhat cathartic as well. emoticon

Sparkpeople is all about small, manageable changes. Sleep is so important; being tired can lead to poor decision such as skipping exercise or eating unhealthy food. Technology's double edged sword rears its ugly head at night. The light emitted from TVs, computer screens, cell phones, etc are blue lights, which can rouse you. Give yourself a good chance at a great night's sleep by not using these devices at least 2 hours before you go to bed. emoticon

Take your measurements day! You know it has been a while...pull out that tape measure and write down your meaurements for:

*Bust
*Waist
*Hips

If you feel like measuring thighs & upper arms - go for it! Keep track in a journal, on your computer, or a notebook so you can see how well you have been doing. Remember that working out your arms *might* increase the measurement. Don't panic! You are replacing flab for fantastic fit muscles!

Also...can you get in 10 glasses of water today? Give it a try!

Thank Goodness for core muscles! We need strong core muscles for more than looking good.

A strong core enhances balance and stability. Everyday tasks as well as some on-the-job tasks rely on core muscles.

A Johns Hopkins study found that overweight people who lost 15 pounds, especially if they lost 15% of belly fat, improved overall quality of sleep by 20%

If you worked your core yesterday and need a break, get the cardio in today. Abs do not shrink by crunches alone!

Good morning! I heard February (among other celebrations) is international boost your self esteem month.

Let's take a mid-week break today to be good to ourselves.

Think of something nice to do for yourself today or make a plan for another day. Maybe make a new vision collage with positive words to describe yourself and your accomplishments big and small!

Maybe you could try yoga if you haven't before. Or listen to your favourite music. Treat yourslelf to a night out at the movies. Use you imagination so that you can boost your self esteem.

We are not perfect but I think we do a really good job and we deserve to reflect on our strong points once in a while to give us balance!

Lets find some balance today so we can power through the rest of the week with a smile!

Take a deck of cards, write down an exercise for each suit in the deck for example spades...jumping jacks, clubs....push-up etc.

You can assign other exercises to the aces, kings, queens and jacks too or just continue with whatever exercise you assigned to their suit.

I did this over the weekend, it took me 15 minutes and I was really sweating. You can make it as hard or as easy as you would like.

Don't go hungry ..... Stock your car and purse with easy, grab'n'go snacks. Some ideas include popcorn, trail mix, granola bars, or sliced veggies. I remember I use to worry about my calories being to high if I didn't eat on schedule, but if I let myself get hungry instead, then I'd overeat later. Make sure that you always, not just today, are prepared to combat hunger!

I want you to perform some sort of cardio during ALL TV commercials. Whether you watch TV during the day or in the evenings. Get up and march on the spot, do jumping jacks, maybe a few crunches. Even if you are sitting in a chair do some tummy cruches (tuck in that tummy and hold to the count of 5 and then repeat until the commercial is over)

Valentine's day is of course associated with boxes of chocolates and rich, decadent dinners out. I am all for relaxing eating rules for special celebrations such as this. However, if you do this, then you should treat V-day like any other day in terms of exercise.
