I just cant keep up with the write down tracker, i dont know, its just i'm on the computer so its easier.
I found another food tracker website that i can access at work, its called my food diary dot com. it has some threads to post on and good info, but it doesn't have the community that spark has, but i can access it at work. i'm gone all day 2 or 3 days/week, so being able to track immediately after lunch has helped UNBELIEVABLY. the only drawback is theres a $9 charge per month, but while i get back into better habits, its really a necessity. so if anyone out there has issues with not being able to access lots of sites, this is a good one.

You are most likely to succeed in your weight loss goals if you develop a plan and set realistic goals. Your weight loss goals need to be specific and attainable. This means that they outline exactly what you intend to do and that they are within your reach. For example, a goal of "walk more" is a good idea, but it is not specific. A goal of "run ten miles a day" is specific, but not may not be attainable. A goal of "walk 30 minutes a day, five days a week" is not only specific, but it is also attainable.

Rewarding yourself for sticking to your weight loss program is a good way to keep yourself motivated. Rewards need to be meaningful and realistic. Focus on giving yourself a reward for each step along the way. For example, reward yourself after sticking to the first week on your diet and exercise regimen. You might buy a new music CD or go to the movies. Bigger rewards, such as tickets to a concert or treating yourself to a vacation or a weekend trip, can be saved for reaching long-term goals.

My goal has been the same since day one lower my blood pressure top and bottom number by 10 points and lose 20 lbs by Christmas 2008 and to just feel better about myself. This is all just for me not for anyone else. I'm now looking out for me.

Sounds like you have a good attitude and a willingness to keep on working the plan and that is a good thing!
Have you looked at the printable resources at Spark? They have a tracker that you can carry with you and lots of great motivational things like a special tracker to remind you to keep to your goals on weekends and stuff like that. Some of those items may be helpful when you can't use the site directly.

Also, if you carry your lunch to work, could you plug in your foods before you go to work and just know that you won't deviate from that? Then it would be like using the tracker.

Please let us know when you need support and if anything in particular works for you so we can see if it would work for us as well.

You can do it!

the 30 day goals are a great idea. I set 6 month goals in january, and reset goals for Mays big bathing suit challange, but yet after 2 days life happens and i'm off the momentum.
I'm so frustrated ... a couple of months ago my company upped the security in their internet limiting more of the web pages we use and now I cant access my spark pages, which makes it so hard to keep track of my food and get the motivation i had found so encouraging in re starting my process again.
i set goals for myself, but i break them cause it doesn't matter anymore and theres no one to know anyway...
starting the 1st of the year my goal was to lose a pound per week (way doable) before my birthday (the 30th this month) and i haven't lost anything.
hopefully this will help with the positive outlook again.
its just so hard - my 30 day goal is to loosen up my fat pants and to get active again 3 days per week.

Have you tried making a concrete "image" of your goal with pictures and words and posting it where you will see it often? That can help to keep a goal front and center in your thoughts. It's kind of like a collage.

I got over the hurdle of my last months goal. I was to learn to be okay with walking in public and being gawked at for being 'did you see that fat chick?'! Guess what?! I saw that fat chick and I lost her 3 pounds! This month, the goal is to go in public twice as much as last month. Can I do it? We will see, starting today when I go get groceries. I'm not going to chicken out and send my fiance' this time.

do you guys know haow many goals i have set for myself that are way past due? i mean , im glad there's no bill collector for failing to achieve goals.

whats is it that i can do to help myself stick to a goal? i know they say that you should do them one at a time, and i do...really. but it always slips my mind afte a week or two and then i have thought up a new one.

i need to figure out how to fight that... that i guess would be a goal/.??? im confused.

I guess my goals would be:
Exercise at least 4 times a week
Cut down on soda
Eat healthier

While we're on the subject on goals, I wondered if anyone had any idea of what kinds of small rewards I could give myself when I do achieve a small goal, such as going to the gym. Something that isn't food, but something I would actually want to work towards. Feel free to email me. I really need some advice on this.

The only folks that would worry about "a fat chick running" would be lazy folks who won't get off their own butts to do it.

Looking at the ticker, I noticed that I am bigger than you and I am only 5'2 so I am guessing that I look a lot bigger than you. I can only share what I do to make me feel better when I am out walking in public, but maybe it will help you. I usually listen to music if I am walking alone and I turn it up loud, really good, fast paced stuff and then I am so busy telling myself how I am kicking that 1/4 miles' butt and how I am looking thinner by the minute. In my mind, I am singing along to the music, telling myself "girlfriend, you rock" etc. It really helps. If you focus on the good stuff in you, you really can't think of the negative stuff at the same time. That's how I try to avoid being self conscious.

We all should work to be mindful to say kind things to our inner selves. It has taken a long time for me to learn that, but it helps a lot.

Take care, hon. You are worth so much more than some small minded person who might think something negative.

I will endeavor to be more active. I sit at my desk for nine hours without even taking a lunch. I will make it a habit to take more walks during work hours.

THIS MONTH I WILL DO LESS THINKING AND MORE DOING. HAVE YOU EVER THOUGHT OF THINGS TO DO TO IMPROVE YOUR HEALTH BUT NEVER GET TO IT? OR GIVE REALLY GOOD ADVICE TO OTHERS AND NEVER FOLLOW IT YOURSELF?..... THATS ME. BUT THIS MONTH I WILL MAKE A CHANGE FOR THE BETTER. I NEED TO CARE FOR MYSELF AS MUCH AS I CARE FOR OTHERS.

WE ALL MUST START SOMEWHERE. TAKE THE TIME OUT TO REVIEW THE INNER YOU, NOT THE OUTTER YOU..... SET A 30 DAY GOAL FOR YOUR SELF... AND TELL US WHAT YOUR GOAL WOULD BE AND HOW IT WOULD HELP YOUR WEIGHTLOSS ACHEIVEMENTS. THEN RETURN TO THIS POST IN 30 DAYS TO TELL US HOW YOUR DOING....

REMEMBER: TO ACHIEVE GREAT SUCCESS, YOU MUST DO IT ONE STEP AT A TIME.
