Ah yes -- I hear you. Today they call a snow day ever so quickly. Especially if they have already banked the days for use. I think we were a heartier generation. Now we're overly cautious and too distracted a society to dress, drive, and act safely.

If the roads (after 31" of snow) are cleared, I hope to be back home to worship. It's been a tough year seeing my Dad go through such drastic lifestyle changes. I'm fortunate to have had this last decade to develop a more meaningful father-daughter relationship. God's not done with us yet! Hug, hug, dear Ev!

I want you to be able to enjoy those things, too, Evelyn. Being with family and friends and church family is always the best way for me to spend holidays, though I rarely get to see my brother on any holiday, nor does Bob. When you posted about seeing your dad, it made me think, if my father were still living, he would be 101 on January 6th!! However, he died on my 30th birthday and I have already lived four years longer than he did. Praying your roads will be cleared for you to get out to see your dad. BTW, my father was the head of our road department. The kids would all get angry with me (in fun, I hope) because he did his job so well, we never had a snow day from school because of the roads.

I believe the healing from a cold is near complete. I'm grateful to be in a warm home as I listen to the many plows who have been by the house to clear the heavy snow. I'm hoping the highway plows have cleared the way so that I may visit my Dad tomorrow, join my church family for worship, and spend a quite Christmas Day with a good Christian friend. God is good! Hug, hug -- Evelyn

Evelyn, that's a really thing to do, especially at this time of year. Do you have any idea what you'll be doing for this new week?

I placed four paper shopping bags of paper to recycle in the recycle bin this week. I could probably do this ten more times . . . but am aiming for one more time this next week as I work to take baby steps towards the simplification that is needed.

What was your new thing for the week?

I tried some dark chocolate covered mini pretzels, but they didn't work for me. In fact, I ended up taking a chunk out of my front tooth! I am sure before all my mouth issues, they may have worked, but not now for sure.
